You have it right now, it never went away. Press the center 'T' on your screen and then all the different easter eggs should pop up. If not, there is a small triangle in the middle, composed of thin lines. Swipe right and you'll find everything.

Is the issue of side mirrors not folding in resolved; I want to try this but thought many on forums had the issue that if you ran the easter eggs the side mirrors stopped auto folding back?

No, the Xmas show still can "break" your mirror controller. I'm waiting until we're told they've fixed that issue.

It's supposed to be a quick reset, but, still, it takes a while sometimes to get to people that know what you're talking about. I'm waiting.
