25 min Tesla car wash with 4 gallons of water

Every so often, I see posts with questions about the best way to wash your Tesla Model 3. Just thought I would share my preferred car wash routine for my 4-year-old 2018 Tesla P3D. Total wash time is 20-25 minutes and uses 4-5 gallons of water.

I basically do a rinsless wash using ONR or P and S ...

My 1964 Corvair Monza EV

After owning a few Leafs, Smart EV, Model 3 and Model Y as my daily driver, I decided to convert (or in my case acquire) a classic EV.

I own and have owned many classic cars over the years and knew that I just drive them around town, never very far, and so any limitations regarding range didn’t b...

Most efficient charging level

Sorry for the TL;DR

Over the last few months, I've been curious about charging efficiency for my Model 3P and so I decided to do a small test:

My wife has a very consistent driving schedule with it and so if you tracked from day to day and week to week, the charge level of the car (as well as the ...

My 12 month review of owning my 2022 Model S Long Range

Ordered before the price hike/at the $79k price point. Took about 9 months or so to come in at that time. 11/2021 build. No matrix headlights/no pivoting screen. (not that I'd ever pivot..the screen from the default position). White on white, 19" wheels, no FSD(had it on the 2017. $15k is a ri...

PBS Newshour story says EVs cant be driven cross county - while it shows a person charging at a Tesla Supercharger!!

Tonite on youtube a PBS Newshour story came up. Talking about EVs in general and why they arent practical yet, and various enviro concerns. I couldnt believe how many things they got wrong, and how much they emphasized negatives without mentioning hardly any positives of driving elecftic. The '...

Another Direct Model X vs. Rivian Comparison: My Personal Experience

TLDR:
It is hard to make a direct comparison between these vehicles. They are both good at different things. If you want to offroad or get adventurous in your car, go with a Rivian. If you already drive a truck and want to get into an EV, you should probably go with an R1T. If you want incred...

Model Y initial impressions after delivery

Took the delivery of my first electric car, Tesla model YLR on 2/4. After almost a week with the car, here are my impressions.

-Coming from busy instrument clusters of Audis and BMW’s, the interior is plain and simple and has grown on me. I still think there should be at least a small screen in fro...

Yoke and FSD (Beta) don’t mix

There have been a lot of debate threads over the Yoke and in general I prefer the Yoke. But I don’t recall a discussion of Yoke in the context of FSD (Beta). If there has been, mods feel free to merge this.

I recently started using the FSD (Beta) and found the Yoke does NOT play well with it all. I...

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

2021 Model Y owner, love the car but hate the suspension. Ordered a 23 for the comfort suspension as soon as the major price drop happened and just test drove one locally ahead of upcoming pickup. Very disappointed in both the ride quality and build quality of the newer car.

Test drove 2023 Model Y...

Hardwiring Accessories in Newer Model Ys (2022-2023)

Hey all, first time starting a thread. I recently picked up my 2023 Model Y, and one of the first things I wanted was to hardwire my phone mount charger. I like the clean look and convenience :). There are quite a few threads and YouTube videos on how to hardwire your dashcam, phone charger, etc.:

Mobileye's taxonomy to replace the SAE Levels

Mobileye published a blog that details their new proposed taxonomy for autonomous driving that they introduced at CES.

They propose 4 axes:

You get 4 categories that can be actual products:

DIY repair: EPB_w053 - Parking brake did not release, EPB_w052 - Parking brake functions degraded

Hi all,

I know it's been talked about a bunch over the past couple years, but I wasn't able to find a thread discussing the DIY repair method for these two errors.

Recently my 2015 S 85 started reporting the above two errors. After having my wife stand outside the car and cycling the car between P...

After 5-weeks, I turned FSD Beta off!

After years of waiting I finally got my FSD Beta! After 6-weeks I turned it off.

I found the promise of the FSD Beta to be overblown. Yes it is very cool that the car will navigate on city streets to a destination. But the car is far too timid to be usable. It is worse than driving with a student d...

Tesla ADAS Incident Reports

I'm starting this thread to analyze incident reports that Tesla files with NHTSA regarding crashes involving cars that might be related to FSD or AP or NOA. Note that Tesla has to report any incidence where the crash happens even if AP/FSD/NOA was engaged within 30 seconds prior to the crash.

FSDb improved speedometer accuracy (still ~1 mph high)

Here's one interesting thing I've noticed since activating the FSDb option last month:

My Tesla's speed readout used to register significantly high, like 6% or more. If the speed readout claimed 45 mph, the real speed was typically 42 mph. I noted this based first on my own judgment, then confirmed...
