Backwards tire?

I'm not a tire expert here but have a question.
Three of my newly mounted Ion Evo AS tires have been mounted with the date stamp on the outside, and the front left has been mounted with the date code on the inside. I know that the tires are non-directional, but would the odd mounted tire make a difference to handling or tire wear? Maybe they did it to hide the fact that it my have been a newer or older dated tire. As it is - the three that are showing are dated 4122 which would mean that they were manufactured October of 2022.

Local Electric Company wants EV owners to pay for upgrading neighborhood infrastructure.

Reading the info that our Electric Company has under policies, a new EV customer wanting to install a level 2 in home chargers may have to pay
$4,000-5000 bill for upgrading electric service to their neighborhood. What is not said is under what circumstances that may happen.
I have a phone call into the company (who are not seeing customers face to face anymore) and will try to find more information on that "$$$charge.
A message was left for me: " Distribution Engineering has become concerned about the increased loads from EV charging and is trying to gather information ahead of time. And, if it looks like the car charger will push the load over neighborhood capacity, they are billing the individual EV owner the cost of the upgrade."
I take that to mean that if I am, say # 9 in my hood to request an EV charger to connect to their grid, I may be liable for at least $4000...I have a lot of questions....

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Greetings. I know a lot of people in my area have Solar on there homes. Some have Tesla Solar. I didn’t see a Thread for My area discussing the Install time , Permit time and PTO time of Tesla Solar. Also I would like to find out What type of systems Tesla has designed for your home. How is it working? What Energy company did you sign up for ? Do they offer net Metering? Tesla has advised me to use MP2( Shell). Tesla has also said a 9.6kw system would be good for my current energy usage of 13,500 kWh’s per year. I opted to get a Powerwall. Only 1 to keep cost down. Should I go for two? Tesla. Said I absolute have 2-3 days back up.

Robotaxi? Really??

I'm reading today that Tesla is scrapping plans for the Model 2 in favor of... the Robotaxi? Really?

After the Cybertruck debacle that has sent their stock plummeting, this seems like another really stupid decision, if true.

It's my understanding that Musk no longer has the controlling interest in the company, so this can't just be because of his usual childish and impulsive decisions.

Is there any definitive word on this?? If it turns out to be true, I'm going to have to turn to Hyundai for my next EV...

Supercharger - West Hollywood, CA (LIVE 2 Sep 2022, 8 V3 stalls)

What: Tesla to install an 8-stall V3 supercharger station in the Sunset Parking Lot in West Hollywood.
Address: 8759-8775 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069

GPS: 34.091635, -118.382241

Yes, this is an access controlled pay parking lot. Yes, Tesla owners who choose to charge here will have to pay both their normal supercharging costs and the full parking rate, which at this time is $2/hr from open at 8AM until 6PM and $5 flat rate after 6PM Sun-Thurs; or $8 flat rate after 6PM Fri & Sat. Here's the West Hollywood Parking webpage which should list any rates changes in the future.

In addition to the 8 supercharger stalls, Tesla is also going to do the electrical infrastructure work to support up to 4 universal DCFC stations in the same lot for the city to install and operate if they choose to do so. The Staff report also included this comment pointing to the likelihood of further supercharger developments in the city:
Staff and Tesla are exploring other potential locations for installation of additional Supercharger Stations. If Council approves this Agreement, it will serve as a template for future implementations. In addition, staff has introduced Tesla to several private parking lot owners for potential expansion of its fast-charging network throughout the City.

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

I just found out that there is no spare, and no good and easy place to store one either. It's a little worrisome for me, but I think we will be able to work around it.
I searched and read a lot on it, like this thread for example, but still have a few questions left:

1) is Modern Spare still the preferred option to get here, and the smallest with the 145/85R18 tire?
2) What is the diameter of the 19" OEM wheel / tire?
3) Has anybody tried places like LesSchwab or Discount Tire, to see if they can get you an even smaller tire and wheel combo? Like a 135/80R18?
4) For a longer trip, could a spare be stored behind the passenger seat, wit the rear seats folded down flat?

Thanks a lot for any help with this!

Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

News yesterday is that the entire 500+ person word-wide SC team has been let go. That is alarming. Why would Elon sack the execs and all the employees of this important part of Tesla's business? Could Tesla be selling the SC network off to a third party? Opinions? Other theories?

good videos featuring Star Trek actors

Watch: William Shatner Reviews Impressions Of Him As Captain Kirk - the 1st video here should be amusing to TOS fans who've picked up on Shatner's funny speech pattern.

I thought the first 3/4 or so of the 17.5 minute video at Laughing at Directors and More: William Shatner Looks Back on Making Star Trek - IGN was good. Was a good Q&A focused on Trek vs. what I typically see on Galaxy Con Live Q&A that are all over the map. Probably wouldn't be for folks who didn't watch TOS or the TOS movies.

Coffee Spill and the Center Console

Hello

This morning, my coffee took a tumble in the center cup holders and overflowed into the center console, right over the usb-c ports.

I'm an overthinker so I thought it'd be better just to ask -

  • Do you guys think it'd cause any damage to the vehicle, or are there safeguards wherein damage to a port won't affect the entire vehicle?
  • I have an appointment when mobile service next week. Is it likely they'd replace the usb-c ports? If so, has anyone ever seen the charge for that type of service?
  • Lastly, I didn't see it get under the seats. But would the mechanism that allows the seats to move forward and backward be protected from liquid damage?
Thanks for your time

Cybertruck is a scam.

Cybertruck is such a scam. Tesla bypassing early reservation holders to see who will pony up an extra $20K ON TOP of a ~50% price increase on all models from reveal. Terrible ~320 mile range that will be like 250 miles in real life and 200 in winter. No spare tire. If you get a spare tire it will take up most of the bed.

"Range Extender" is never coming out and is complete Tesla BS vaporware. That would take up the remaining bed space. Not even a way to connect it in the bed. So a Cybertruck with spare and range extender isn't even a pickup truck anymore. Tesla's idiotic fixed headrest seats that give you neck pain after an hour.

Stupid white interior on a truck. No opening moonroof or rear window are huge misses. No HVAC in the bed as promised. Towing is going to be laughable with that tiny 123 kWh battery. The sales of this truck will tank once Tesla scams all of the "gotta have it now" Tesla fan-bois out of an extra $20K while pissing off the rest of their customers by putting them to the end of the line.

The REAL price of the Cybertruck is dual motor $100K and Tri-motor $120K. Only "Founders Editions" will be made for 2024/2025. The RWD is also vaporware and not coming out for many many many years if at all. Neither is the "$80K AWD" or "$100K Beast".

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Figured I'd start a thread to discuss experiences of new Model 3 Highland owners specific to the Australian environment. Any gripes, things that could be improved, work arounds, etc etc.

Has it burst into flames when you try to use the indicator button on a roundabout?

Do you have the new 3d park assist, and how have you found it?

etc, etc.

Wiki Superchargers Visited

**** NOTE: We have transitioned to a new platform ****
More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

For daily driving for those with home charging primarily. I read Tesla says the car should be left plugged in when at home and not in use. I wait until I’m down to about 40% or so and then charge to 80%, usually overnight. Does it really make a difference?

I’m not asking about exceptions, like charging to 90-100% for a longer road trip. Or those who don’t have home charging available.
