Clattering/Chafing sound emanating from M3 front end when driving at high speeds

I have been noticing a loud clattering/chafing sound coming from the driver side wheel region of my M3. I first noticed it when driving 92mph some months ago, but the sound went away after backing down to 75mph.

Since then the issue has progressed, and now I hear the sound at 70mph after driving for about an hour.

Tesla service center has not been able to recreate the issue and they're refusing to take the car apart or even look at it.

I've provided a video clip that clearly relays the sound, but that's apparently not adequate for them.

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any advice on how to get Tesla to handle the issue

  • Question
Is 23-65 kWh at a supercharger normal for a 2015 model S 70D with recently replaced battery pack?

A friend of mine was very kind to lend me his 2015 Model S 70D so can see if i want to replace my ICE for a free supercharge Tesla Model S (2016).
His car is 2015 and has 250.000km (150K Mi) on it, but less than 40.000 km (24000mi) the battery pack was replaced (refurbished?) under warranty by Telsa.
The car has free supercharge.

Now comes the problem.

Even after driving to a Tesla Supercharger point (using the route planner) for over an hour, arriving at the supercharger with 34% remaining, the car starts to charge at only 63 kWh.
This very quickly drops to 30 kWh as the battery is at 50%. There were no other cars at the 250 kWh charging point.

If I went to the nearby 120 kWh Supercharger, a 15 minute drive, it starts a 34 kwH, quickly dropping to 23 kWh.

Driving to an non Tesla supercharger makes no difference.

Now the quesiton:
Is this normal? This slow charging speed makes the free supercharger a lot less attractive.

Many thanks for your experiences, remarks and advise.

Tsportline wheels to replace 19" Tempests with OEM tires?

Hi!
I'm new to TMC and a new Tesla owner (taking delivery of an Ultra Red MSLR this weekend!). After doing research I ended up ordering 19" Tempest wheels even though I like the look of the Arachnids much better. From what I can tell, the aftermarket wheels that look most similar to the Arachnids are the TSS wheels on Tsportline.

I'm a car noob so this may be a dumb question, but it seems like the 20" TSS wheels will definitely not fit the OEM tires, and the 19" TSS wheels... might fit? I recognize even if it would fit, it'd be square wheels on a staggered tire setup. Not sure how that affects aesthetics/performance/handling/range. My goal is to get cool looking wheels (not above 20" though) without having to buy new tires if possible. I know Arachnid-like wheel covers are an option, but it seems like those are much more available for Model 3/Y, and for Model S it's really just these Tesmanian wheel covers that I don't hate but I also don't love.

Hoping for insight into whether I could get TSS wheels while keeping the same tires, and if not, any tips/recommendations for other aftermarket 19" wheels that are the same size as the Tempests (ex. the staggered Tsportline TSRs).

Thank you in advance!

grease on brand new gen 3 wall connector charge port, is this normal?

I have the gen 3 wall connector installed yesterday. After a full charge, I pulled out the charge port to see that there are some grease inside the charge port.

Is this normal? I am worried something is leaking as I heard the charge cable uses liquid cooling now? Would appreciate if someone can confirm if this is normal. Thanks a lot!

Model 3 highland alloys

I’m currently looking at ordering the model 3 highland in ultra red with the white interior. I am undecided on which alloys to get on the car and I was after some opinions.

The 18” photons with the aero caps removed are nice and the black against the red I think looks good. I’m just concerned they look a bit small. I have a white m3 lr at the moment and the 18” look a bit small.

The nova are a good size and I like them but I can’t decide whether they look as good as the photons.

I suppose I could look at some aftermarket alloys in 19” or 20”.
What’s your thoughts?

Model X damaged wheel arches

2022 Model X Plaid. Started hearing noises when accelerating quickly. Couldn't ID t until I noticed that the wheel arches are cracked in the front. The cracks are in the same spot on both sides and there are no scratches or damage around them. They broke right where the air channels through the front bumper. Could the wind or a deep enough puddle cause this? At high speeds, the wind is starting to pull the clips our that hold the rest of the arch. I've had a lot of Fit & Finish issues with this car....

  • Question
Falcon wing edge damage/not closing fully

2022 Model X, picked up June '22. The very bottom of my driver's side falcon wing door had intermittently stuck out when closed. On-sote service rep couldn't recreate when there but whe shown pics he said it was probably just the rubber settling. It seems to be permanent now and, due to its location low on the side of the car, sand and road debris is chipping off the paint. Has anyone else had this?

Thanks.

  • Question
Steering wheel stiff after Tesla SC completed wheel alignment

My Tesla service centre failed to align my wheel and centre my steering wheel 3 times in 2 months.

The first 2 times the steering wheel came back way off centre, and the 3rd time (last week) I got my car back with a centred steering wheel, however the steering wheel is probably 50% stiffer than it was before. Something is definitely not right.

What could they be getting wrong?

  • Question
clarification of gen 3 wall connector torque specs

I am installing a gen 3 wall connector on a 60 amp breaker - using #6 gauge thhn for the current carrying conductors and #10 gauge thhn for the ground conductor. The torque specs in the manual state using 50 inch lbs for the 3 terminals. Is 50 inch lbs of torque too much torque for the smaller #10 gauge wire and can possibly cause damage when tightened? Should I use #8 gauge thhn instead?

I don't see the Camera Preview

I have a 2018 Model 3 LR, EAP No FSD, SW Ver 2023.38.6, App is up to date, but I don't see the "New" feature Camera Preview under Service (Or anywhere else for that matter) in car or the App. I also don't get the grey dot for the Cabin Camera in the App when trying to view the Live Cameras as some have mentioned. I have sentry mode enabled. Is there some other "options" I need to turn on to activate the Camera Preview feature? I mean, it's not there at all (not even a greyed out choice). I tried searching the Forums but haven't found anything addressing this issue.

Another question, how do I determine the HW level . . .since it seems many posts mention their vehicles level.

Thank You for any help you can give.

2023 MYLR Inventory Vehicle Delivery Time

We ordered a Model Y (LR) last Sunday (11/05/23). We were immediately assigned a VIN number since a vehicle matching our preferences is in the inventory. The original delivery date range was 11/19 - 11/28. Later, it changed to 11/15 - 11/24. We went to the showroom and an advisor there was able to ping the vehicle. It is still in Fremont.

However, from his account, he can see the estimated delivery date as a single date (11/18/23) as opposed to the range of dates being shown in my app.

Now, how reliable is this estimated delivery date? Has anyone here recently got an inventory vehicle delivered to them? If yes, can they shed some light on the accuracy of these delivery estimates.
FYI the delivery location is Fayetteville, GA.

2014 S Broken Motor

What can I do with 2014 Model S with broken motor? The original motor was replaced less than 2 yrs ago and we found out it had no warranty since it was replaced under the original car warranty. Tesla estimates it will cost $6000-$8000 plus cost to tow (~$350). Biggest concern is paying that and getting another one that only lasts 2 years like this one did. Any suggestions as to what to do?

  • Question
Model Y camera

Hello,
Does anyone have a solution to frost, overnight accumulating on the camera on drivers door side that allows you to open the door to get in, I havn't had my Model Y long range long enough yet to go thru a winter but my wife ran into this situation this morning here in Michigan. My wife forgot her phone and had to use the key card to get into the car on that instance.
I posted this in driving dynamics may not be the right place but I took a shot.

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

Hi all, have a 2023 MYP that I want to home charge.
I have a new 3-phase board. I plan on buying 16mm2 (4C+E) cable to run from the board to the Gen 3 wall charger.

My question is, what size 3-pole breaker do I install, 32A or 60A ?

I’ve been reading online that 60A is good to support the 16mm2 cable however the manual says 32A.
Bit confused.

If I’m limited to 32A breaker is the 16mm2 overkill?

[Canada] Looking for advice on buying a used Tesla, is it worth the savings if I'm keeping it long term

Here are the options I have currently. I do want to have Enhanced Autopilot so if I buy a car with just standard autopilot, I'll have to purchase it separately. Don't really care much about FSD since it doesn't seem valuable.

I want to keep this car for at least 5-10 years so is it worth getting a 2021 model with FSD for a good deal or should I go for the 2022 or 2023 ones. Probably won't get the new Tesla since I am not eligible for the 5k federal credit

psi in wheel not updating/low

so I've been dealing with one of my tires (right tire) psi not updating I was on a trip with my girlfriend my tire lost air which I just went to a random gas station to have some added but it was not going in. I cannot find a hole or something damaged to my tire but I added air and the psi has not gone down since still at 26 psi. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem because I test drove it a couple days ago and the drive feels good but I don't want the tire to just randomly pop on me or something happen to the tire that I am aware
