    Tesla Software updates - Australia

And you’ve got radar and USS which Tesla Vision still struggles to match!

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The Model Y is about three years younger than the Model 3 and continues to sell extremely well. With Tesla's recent staff reduction and alleged focus on lower cost models I doubt you'll see any significant updates to the Model Y any time soon.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Very interesting to see significant features differences between the older Intel models and the newer AMD Ryzen models. That's going to annoy a lot of early Model 3 owners.

EV Community funded DC charger is operational

Woa. What happened? Is there any explanation from the business? Suddenly turning off a charger could leave people stranded.

    Queensland Electric Highway

While I respect that increased costs result in increased prices, this is an 83% price jack. I suspect that this is less about sustainability and more about a sudden budget deficit or change in operating model.

    Queensland Electric Highway

Wow that’s a huge jump. Charging 55c/kWh for a measly 50kW seems a bit egregious. I will avoid them where I can.

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

The front bumper camera will definitely come. Given that the CT has a front bumper camera, and the S and X are reportedly getting it shortly, it will come to the 3 and Y eventually. I reckon resale values on the USS-less Teslas will take a hit when the front bumper cams reach the 3 and the Y.

Euro crash tester says carmakers must return to physical controls - Impact on Australia?

The European crash testing association (Euro NCAP) have announced that they will be deducting points if some certain controls aren't physical. These include turn signals, wipers, horn etc. The reason being is they feel that touchscreens oblige drivers to take their eyes off the road and increase...

Does using Tesla Tyre Repair kit require you to pull the nail out first?

I've used the cheapest one from Kings (the automotive 4WD store). It's can be a little difficult to do but the repair is damn near permanent.

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

I think you're confusing a bad implementation with the concept of a 360 surround view. The 360 view I used on a 3 year old BMW 5 series (part of the parking assist pro package) produced a very clean image with minimal distortion. It would easily have seen the obstacle in the example above. It...

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

Unfortunately the vision parking assist is not good for distance estimation at short distances, especially from the front where your bonnet blocks your camera view and the car has to guess it's position from memory. It tends to be inaccurate and says 'STOP' fairly early when you need that...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The main benefit of LFP is a long cycle life, twice as long as NMC if not more.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Disagree. Tesla's maps are pretty bare bones and their overall app support is terrible. I use a cradle holding a phone that runs Waze. Its navigation runs rings around Teslas poor efforts. Tesla doesn't even have a plugshare app. I honestly think Tesla would be better off handing over to...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

My MY RWD is also pretty sluggish at the start. It definitely picks up over 40km/h but the throttle tune seems to limit acceleration at low speeds.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I hope you're right but I won't be holding my breath. The auto wipers on Model Y are vision based and are terrible. If they can't fix those then I'm dubious about Tesla ever getting vision based parking working.
