California Utilities Plan All Out War On Solar, Please Read And Help

Therein lies the root of the problem. Politicians beholden to donors, and not constituents.

Yep. Only bat-*sugar* crazy fanatics would pay the prices for a Disney Cruise. No joke, often these cost as much as a car, and sell out quickly.

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

From the one friend I had in Tesla management, this is common. Burnout is always at start-up levels for this company. My friend left for similar reasons (quality of life).

Go look at Google and GM's margins on these ventures. They are crushing alright . . . just not in the way you were thinking. Billions in losses for each.

Cali utilities propose Income Based electricity rates

Details matter. NO, the CA Gov DOES NOT share info for people to get lowered elec rates if they are low income. Those people have to VOLUNTEER that information and provide it to the utilities. It's a VERY VERY different beast when the CA Gov would just hand it over, en masse, to PRIVATE...

Cali utilities propose Income Based electricity rates

We should not even be discussing ACCEPTING an income-based fee for electricity, or anything else. What's next? Income based charges for groceries? Income based charges for water/sewer? Once the legislature gets away with pushing this through ONCE, it opens the floodgates for everything to be...

You live in LA, smog is going to impact your performance as well, even on a "clear" day. I'm on a mountain, I look down into the smog, and it's been impressive this year.

If anyone has a brain in the burgeoning EV marketplace, some OEM will snap him up and make him their EVP of Engineering or something like that. A guy like this let loose at Rivian or Lucid would really make a gigantic difference for those companies.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If memory serves me, F and GM both build things in single-story facilities. GigaTexas is 3 (sometimes 4) floors. You need to compare utilized floor space, not plant footprint for an accurate comparison (and even then Tesla is far more efficient).

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

I would be those "talks" are basically reminders to the Kremlin of certain lines not to cross. If crossed, they would immediately result in US direct involvement, not just weapons sales. Believe it or not, keeping the lines of communication open like this, I view as a good thing.

So, you need to brush up on how academia works (I have a Ph.D. and a M.D. - I'm speaking from experience here). While true that Elon did not complete a TRADITIONAL pathway for physics, his work after his degree was completed was considered so extraordinary that Yale bestowed him in 2015 with an...

The S is a hatchback. That's the kind of design I was referring to. A model 3 with an S-type hatchback would have far more utilizable cargo space with pretty much zero compromises.

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

They can't make it difficult. There is a battery cell shortage, effectively. So while you have a niche players like Lucid that are pumping 500-mile range cars, they really aren't making that many of them, compared to the hundreds of thousands (soon to be millions) of Model Y's being cranked...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

You do realize that there is space in the current 4680 pack for 2-3 more bandoliers? See Munro's teardown. You simply re-center the cells you have, problem solved. There is nothing in the structure that would prevent this. Back to my MAIN POINT - Elon has made it CRYSTAL CLEAR on many...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Yes, they are removed in groups, in this case a string of (don't remember the number, but there are pretty pics from GF TX with them). The motors work just fine in a moderate voltage range, they don't have to be locked in at a precise voltage, which is going to vary as the pack discharges as...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

No blank cells. Pack is just filled with additional structural foam, that is it. They already do this, as there is actually already room for nearly 100kwh of cells in the current structural pack, but space is left open, and they certainly do not put empty cans in it. I suggest you go watch...

These could be just test mules. I.e. use the structural frame of an existing 3 with the add-on parts from Highland to test functionality of those specific parts (camera placement for calibration, headlights, etc. etc.). The mules would likely change as production nears (i.e. true front+rear...

Most interesting part of that video for me was the Gigacasting expansion that is visible. That's VERY good news for something like Highland. Appropriate downtime in order to boost production. Love it.

I don't disagree with this, but one counterpoint - I think COVID added to legacy auto's complacency. In the end, as painful as COVID was, I think it actually benefited Tesla more than anyone.

Yep, this is the hidden "cheat code" for buying a Tesla if you want FSD. You may have to be a bit patient and accept that it will have a few miles on it (10-20k is fine in my book), but you can get FSD very cheaply this way. This is the approach we took last year with our Y.
