And can they set up a delivery centre on a reservation?
  2. W

Tesla walks away from public funding for Superchargers because of payment system integration

We use pre-paid RFID cards on FLO and BC hydro stations. 100 percent serviceability for us. But they also don’t have screens.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’d rather start with passing 200…and then shoot for 300. 😊

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yep. We spike at 254 KW and it really doesn’t drop below 250 until around 24 or 25 percent. That at minus 7 celcius last time.

Coming up on end of quarter soon and haven’t seen anything recently on Semi production. Does Pepsi have their hundred trucks yet? Are they still building them? Seems quiet regarding the semi production.

    Nissan Ariya

Yep. Our local dealer told us at most they would see two per year for the next few years. They also have pricey maintenance schedules with mandatory annual battery checks etc. Weird.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Some good points and perspective there. One of the more dangerous things it will have to figure out is the constant wrong lane and turn signal selection. That has gotten very marginally better. That’s not just annoying but dangerous. Cheers.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yep. We are running FSD beta. Don’t get me wrong. It’s pretty cool. But if you think about it from a hands off approach it’s not even close. A 10 kilometre ride around town would rack up thousands of dollars of fines and puss off dozens of drivers. And yah 20 years is probably a stretch but I...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah. Elon is such a smart and capable guy that has moved things forward in huge ways. But it seems he is completely disconnected from the real world on FSD. He must drive on FSD. He has to know what’s happening. I don’t for a minute think he is a bold faced liar (he’s not an evil guy although I...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hmmm. I enjoy using FSD but it is making only tiny incremental improvements. Unless there is some massive fix coming up a real autonomous L4 is more than a decade away. Maybe two. It’s just not even close in any way shape or form. It’s fun to use but absolutely no where even close to being used...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Pretty good point. Honestly I think we are probably a decade away from any kind of autonomous driving car but it’s very true. We use FSD every single day in some pretty tough circumstances. It fails regularly which we don’t mind because it’s still fun to watch the tech grow and intervening is...

    Mexico Superchargers

That was Tamaulipas. Completely different part of the country. Generally speaking I would say Mexico is much safer than the US for tourists. In the US shootings are a regular occurrence and just a part of society. A single shooter can take out 61 people in one day and the next day everything...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We are in Mexico right now travelling around some of the small towns north of Mazatlán. I have looked at the plugshare app a few times just for giggle and grins. There needs to be a LOT of superchargers and/or CCS infrastructure before the climate of EV’s can even begin to grow. I can see Tesla...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I can’t see any kind of robotaxi happening for at least a decade. And certainly present progress suggests even longer. The rest seems doable.
  15. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah, good point. It’s a ways off in the future. By then we’ll probably all know better how Rivian is going.
  16. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That’s kinda cool, especially if they open all of them. We have had our eye on a Rivian since we saw one in real life a few weeks back. I wouldn’t even consider it without access to superchargers. Hopefully Canada will see this as well.
  17. W

    Mexico Superchargers

Yah. And it would seem a no brainer if the open a Mexican Tesla plant. We are in maz right now and have seen a few threes driving around. An affordable tesla here would have demand, but only if there is a corridor from Canada to Merida…or at least the pacific coast.
  18. W

    Mexico Superchargers

The pacific route is the one that interests us. Huge gaps yet. Has anyone seen a uniquely Mexican planned supercharger map?
  19. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So, are these Superchargers with the Magicdock that are popping up in New York funded by NEVI funds or are they just part of teslas plans to open the network. It just seems they don’t come even close to the NEVI specs. Weird.
  20. W

    Western Canada Superchargers

He’s wrong on the opening to other brands. That is a US funded program.
  21. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I was kind of under the impression it was a supply chain crisis. Not sure why.
  22. W

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

Some cars will have to take up two spots.
  23. W

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

if they make the cables really long like some we have seen one could drive a Tesla in front first and the cable would reach the back of the car. This could make it easier for teslas pulling trailers assuming there was room in the back for the trailer without blocking the lane.
  24. W

Are any of the new V4’s in North America CCS1 compatible?

They could use the trailer stall setup…which would suck for us towing trailers.
  25. W

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

it will be interesting to see how this develops. It is definitely not as simple as just slapping an adaptor on the end of a cable.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Makes sense. For what it’s worth our car has done that once. Eg. Realize it’s in the wrong lane, make the turn and recalculate. Normally I just take over and it never becomes an issue, but wife wanted to see what it would do and it made the turn. Having said that it has also got stuck in never...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So, I kind of get the impression this recall OTA update is ready to go. If they managed to get a fix that fast to this never ending wrong lane intersection thing why wouldn’t they just have done it. Or is there some kind of time limit or else sceenario here? Weird.
  28. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Walk me thru it. What’s the connection?
  29. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think that recall nailed it. We have had issues with all those things. Especially being in the wrong lane at an intersection (although since a couple updates ago it’s not 100 percent wrong all the time now). But the speed limit thing will get you a ticket for sure when speed limit changes to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

😊. We do that regularly at superchargers, but only if no one is there. And we make sure that if a bunch of people show up there is an escape route so we can free up superchargers. Cybertrucks are coming. Tesla really needs to think about adding more trailer stalls.
  31. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes, but how will they monitor it and how will they penalize it. The other side of this is that some charge chains may just decide to throw in the towel.
  32. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well, if you are going thru BC the northern highways haven’t been populated with DC fast chargers yet by BC hydro. 2025 is BC hydros target date. North of highway 16 is still a charging desert.
  33. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I know many have reported the addition of CCS facilities to some superchargers but thought I would put the link to the Washington post article. Keep in mind that this is only in the US. Canada and Mexico will continue as per normal...

We don’t need no stinking cyber truck to tow 😜.
  36. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah. Canada took a different approach. Here the government hires Tesla to install reliable CCS/Chademo facilities. They are co-located at superchargers. Upon completion they are turned over to FLO and FLO operates them. They are super reliable. Typically for every 8 supercharger pedestals there...

Just catching up on the various publications re energy, EV’s etc. One re-occurring theme that seemed to pop up is the feeling that tesla is about to open the tesla supercharger network and the various meetings that seem to be taking place. I’ll link one in clean technical below for context...

No. It’s europe. It’s a CCS2 connector. Some superchargers in Europe allow non teslas to charge at some locations.

    Supercharger - Nanaimo, BC

On one of the Facebook groups there are a few reports with pics. It is about 6 kilometers from the other V2 supercharger. Looks like 8 stalls. They really need one in Courtney or Campbell river. Betting that’s the next location on the island.
  41. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yep, in Canada too although no US money would ever go to fund chargers in Canada. Still lots of lineups in the last few weeks in Ontario. Opening those superchargers to non teslas would be devastating to the Tesla owner experience in those areas. They’ll have to pick carefully which...

I’m thinkin the folks that think Robotaxis are close have never been in a car with FSD beta. I mean, don’t get me wrong. We love ours. It’s freakin amazing. But really? If a cop followed me across the city he would use every blank citation book he had with him and the accumulated fines would...
