    Dual Motor now $5000

I haven't done a survey of other similar car configurations, but I can say I've never looked at a car before that offered a 2000 paint upgrade. I wonder if it's a combination of the paint shop being a bottleneck and just a pure cash grab.

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

Wow, a lot of the reddit people are kinda being dicks to that guy. Good luck getting him to provide more info.

    Dual Motor now $5000

Who has two thumbs and feels even better about their existing awd config? This guy ;)

Just test drove a Performance 3D

They didn’t mention the ability to simulate the performance of the awd so no I didn’t do that. They knew I had an awd order and was considering upgrading so if simulating other versions was an option I assume they would have meantioned it.

Just test drove a Performance 3D

So this is going to go against the grain a little bit. But I test drove a performance yesterday, and I walked away more sure of my awd order. It’s crazy fast, but it doesn’t have the crazy initial jerk I was expecting (“feels” fast) and I found it way too easy to get up 80-90 on the freeway...

I see a thin red line on the pawd chart. How did someone order a pawd with 19s?

Does your map traffic info auto-update?

I wonder if this is a cost saving measure to reduce data usage or if it’s a bug.

Just test drove a Performance 3D

Huh, I suppose with air suspension you could try to dynamically increase the rear suspension during heavy acceleration to combat the weight shift to the rear, though I doubt any air suspension system is able to react quickly enough to really help there.

    Future performance upgrade?

If we assume the cars are identical hardware wise (from what I’ve seen, most signs point to them being the same) I see 3 possibilities 1) Next year Tesla in a drive to be more profitable lets AWD users upgrade their car to a P for 12k or more (it’s going to cost more than getting a P) 2) Tesla...

Stripped down P over fully-loaded AWD?

I’m still wrestling with this. I’m sitting on a fully loaded AWD config right now and still thinking hard about switching to a base P with custom color (I like the silver, I know it’s not popular, fight me) for basically the same price. I can always add EAP + FSD and rims later is what I keep...

Posted 0-60 times using which wheels?

As far as I know, the only reason to stagger the wheels is acceleration. I’m sure lighter rims would also help with acceleration, but Elon recommending staggered wheels implies to me that the Performance model 3 is being held back by the grip of it’s tires.

Posted 0-60 times using which wheels?

Is that standard practice? To use a rollout on your high end models and a dead start for the lower end models? That seems pretty shady to me. Though if that is what they are doing it makes the AWD an even better deal. I wonder if that’s one of the reasons they’re not letting anyone do a proper...

Posted 0-60 times using which wheels?

Totally get that the wheels matter. I guess the crux of my question is: which wheel + tire combinations are being used to produce the advertised 0-60 times? If I buy a base performance model with stock aero wheels am I going to see the advertised 3.5s 0-60? Do I need to get the performance...
  17. T

Posted 0-60 times using which wheels?

Are all the posted 0-60 times using the base model of each drive train? Meaning the advertised 0-60 times for AWD and P are using Aeros? Seems like the 0-60 times would be affected by the grip of the tires, so it seems like either the base P with 18” Aeros would be slower than advertised, or...

How do you update the wheels displayed in the car and app?

Yes, I lead a blessed life. So sounds like people have gotten the graphic changed by talking to their SC, good to know it’s possible to be changed. I suppose when I eventually get around to doing this conversion I can just tape a picture of my bitch’n car over the center display as a constant...

    Model 3 Cooling System System

Huh, I wonder why they didn’t use the heater for the cabin to heat the batteries as well (like how the cabin and batteries share the same compressor for cooling).

How do you update the wheels displayed in the car and app?

I’m thinking about ordering with the areos and upgrading the tires later. What is the process for updating the look of the tires on the virtual car in your app and in car display?

Vendor T Sportline 19" TST Wheels For Tesla Model 3

To clarify, if you buy the wheel and tire package does that also come with the pressure sensors? Do you just need to take it out of the box and mount the new wheels and everything works?

    Model 3 Performance Test Drives

I agree that it’s not all that clear that there are any real physical differences in the motors. Especially when it is clear that they are obviously prioritizing P deliveries first so there can’t be too much bin sorting going on if they are mostly trying to build as many Ps up front as they can...

    Automatic Emergency Braking Issue

My understanding is AEB is just designed to reduce the severity of an impact once it’s determined that an impact is imminent (as in it’s decided you are definitely about to have a collision, it’s just a question of how bad it’s going to be). AFAIK it doesn’t prevent collisions.

Edit button gone, as is ability to change payment option? but no email or call?

I lost my edit button a while back. Called Tesla about potential updating my AWD to a P and they said I could do that until I get a vin assignment and that the edit button disappearing is a bug with all the recent website changes. You can still call or email to change your order but it will put...

Motor Trend Model 3 Performance Article

Actually this kind of annoyed me. If they can increase the regenerative breaking strength, why limit it to track mode? Why not make it a standalone option so those of us that want stronger regenerative can have it without losing traction control etc.
  28. T

    Swapping 18” for 19” wheels?

Also slightly annoying is I think your car will show up in your app and in the in car menus as you originally configured it, so even after you have physically gotten 19s on the car, you'll still be staring at the aeros.

Motor Trend Model 3 Performance Article

Why won't tesla let reviewers have the car for more than 45 minutes in LA rush hour? I mean all the test drive write-ups I've seen so far are positive, so why not let reviewers have the car for a day and get a proper review out?
  30. T

    Performance Sigma Yield?

I mean bin sorting or no. It doesn't really matter how they do it. At the end of the day as long as the car is as fast as they advertise you've gotten what you wanted and paid for, regardless of if it's through purely software or there are hardware differences as well.

Will I lose free premium connectivity if I edit my order now?

To circle back on this. I finally got around to calling and waiting for an hour to verify that if you placed your initial order before July 1st, they will still honor the free premium connectivity, but anytime you edit you basically get put back into the end of the line in terms of when you get...

From WSJ: Tesla asking suppliers for refund/cash to become profitable

It seems like more short seller FUD. If Tesla was really in trouble they would stop funding development of future projects like roadster, semi, model Y etc to focus on the products they do have working now.

Poll: AWD M3s software upgradable to performance edition some day?

If the motors were physically different wouldn't they look different in the configuration tool like they do for model S? It seems like from a manufacturing stand point if they were going to make a different motor for one of the versions, wouldn't they make a bigger motor for the performance...

Poll: AWD M3s software upgradable to performance edition some day?

As far as I can tell, the consensus opinion is that the only difference between the base AWD dual motor model 3 and the performance edition is a software unlock, (plus some minor tweaks to the suspension). I haven’t been following Tesla as long as many of you (just reserved end of last year)...

My Model 3 niggles. One week on

For a while I was strongly considering getting a Chevy Bolt instead. They really nailed the regen experience in that car where the normal regen can bring you to a complete stop and it has a paddle on the steering wheel to boost the regen even more. When I test drove a model S I was disappointed...

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

So the whole statement about "double burn in" etc is all bullshit then right? Every rear motor in the RWD cars handles the same load (211 kw) as rear motors in the PAWD, and every front motor in the AWD and PAWD handle the same load (147kw) too. There is nothing special about the PAWD motors. I...

Lack of 360 degree camera (birds eye view)

Yeah they could enable them. I'm just saying it's unfortunate they conflated the side cameras being enabled with purchasing FSD. For people hoping for an identical 360 implementation from what they see in other cars. I'm pretty sure other manufacturers are simply purchasing this Bosch system...

Does tesla have an official website where users can suggest and vote on feature requests?

I work for a large tech company and we have something like this that has been helpful for prioritizing and guiding the next features we work on.
  41. T

Lack of 360 degree camera (birds eye view)

Yeah I'm a little concerned that tesla has painted itself into a corner the way it has marketed FSD as enabling the side cameras. If they now enable increasingly common features that use side cameras like lane watch and 360 for everyone people who bought FSD could complain that the sales people...

Lack of 360 degree camera (birds eye view)

Oh I've never seen the fender view. I've only seen the view from all the other cameras from the electrek article. I had assumed with the camera mounted so low that you could see the side of the car and ground from it. Where can I see the view from the front fender cameras?
  43. T

Lack of 360 degree camera (birds eye view)

They could, but they are not about to go retrofitting everyone's cars, maybe they will add one there in the future but it will almost certainly not happen before the end of the year during this model 3 delivery crunch. Having used these 360 systems before I found it most helpful for backing into...
  44. T

Lack of 360 degree camera (birds eye view)

It seems to me like existing teslas won't ever be able to offer the 360 view most other mid and upper range cars offer due to the placement of their cameras. One thing they could easily do is show the two side camera feeds on either side of the rear camera feed as you're backing up. This would...

Stripped down P over fully-loaded AWD?

It's not that easy for some of us. For some of us it's a choice between being faster or having EAP and custom wheels. Which I'm finding to be a hard choice.
  47. T

    Model 3 Performance Test Drives

I hope Bellevue doesn't get one. That is not going to help my resolve in resisting getting the P when the AWD should be fine.
  48. T

Stripped down P over fully-loaded AWD?

I'm maybe a little salty about this because despite the rashional side of my brain saying this is a terrible idea, there is a juvenile part of me that wants to pay it anyway and get pressed into the back of my seat when I mash the pedal.
  49. T

Stripped down P over fully-loaded AWD?

Yeah I've been wrestling with this too. I keep looking at my loaded awd config and thinking "for a little more I could have a base performance" but it's really hard to mentally justify it when all you're getting for your 11k is faster delivery and better quality control on your motors. To me it...

So how important are those performance brakes?

My budget can fit a base performance model with custom color. Looking at the performance package, I don't care about the pedals or spoiler, I can buy tires later, so that only leaves the brakes as something that seems difficult to add later that might be good to have. I also kind of like the...
