    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

I got approved by BMO 6.15%@96mth on May 5th, was told Scotia is 6.06% and RBC is higher for this month. Tesla rep told me that I don't need to accept the offer until I have a firm delivery date. Until then, I can do another loan application and hope for better rate at that time. Is it true that...

Hitch Mount Bike Rack Ground Clearance Question

I have not. I’ve been using that old Yakima rack for the last two seasons, only have problems twice: one time with a very tall speed bump in a high school; the other was in the wild with a sudden drop. Both very minor.

IPhone no longer works as key

You are right! Thanks for helping me solved this headache! Long story short, my wife’s iPhone 13 (what an incident!) stopped being recognized as phone key after flawlessly working for months during a drive. Her phone just stuck at pairing process while it looks like her Bluetooth being...

Tracking Trip Details for business expense purposes

money spend on the electricity is real, mileage on the screen is real. I’m just suggesting the kWh used can not be read from the screen directly. Where is this cheating come from? FYI, my meter, directly connected to the charger, reported 185kWh electricity flow into my car, however, Tesla said...

Power use while plugged in but not charging

Interesting post. Due to the COVID, I had my 3 in the garage most of the time. I found that my car will initiate charging process after fully charged (to set limit) if I kept plugging it in. Here's an example for one day.

    Curt Hitch Install Question

Right. Better run the wire to the front. Thanks!
  9. T

    Curt Hitch Install Question

Wait a sec. You used a separate battery? I watched this youtube from etrailer which run the wire all the way to connect to the front battery from under the body. That made me pretty worried, plus I don't have a lift for the car. If a separate battery is fine, why would I bother to run the wire...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I'm so attempted to install the wire, however, I'm not totally convinced just stuffing it under the body. Did you tie it along the way? waiting for some talent ppl finding a way to use the pre-wired port behind the bumper.

    Curt Hitch Install Question

Wow, that's great! Do you have the shop install the wiring for you? mind sharing a pic or two of towing the boat? especially where the connection between the hitch and the trailer. Always worried about the clearance for mine.

Hitch Mount Bike Rack Ground Clearance Question

thanks for your reply. I was trying not to use tray type bike rack to avoid increased area possibly touch the ground. Did you ever take 1up for a road trip and have the rack scrape the ground? Thanks!

Hitch Mount Bike Rack Ground Clearance Question

obviously, I messed rear overhang distance with the total rear length with the hitch when I check the manual. Hence, I redraw the diagram. This time I factor in the front wheel. Seems like you'll have to raise the front wheel to almost 19" to bottom out the hitch. Idea?

Hitch Mount Bike Rack Ground Clearance Question

Hi Fellow Model 3 owners I've recently installed a hitch (CURT 13449) on my beloved model 3. After putting my old Yakima double down bike rack on it, bike rack sits pretty low. I used to have a SUV so no problem at all putting four bikes on it, however, by looking at the bike rack, I'm a little...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

pleasure to help! Did you fixed the gap thing?
  18. T

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I noticed the gap too, just not as big as yours. Yours more like the clips not in the right place. I believe it’s due to the fitting problem, it somehow distorted the bumper a little bit, at least for me. For the bottom cutout, I have it cut very well. It’s a tight fit. See the pics in my above...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

thanks, bud! I read that but not until I do it, those words started to make sense! I work on it by myself so I had to find creative way, see below pics, to do it. I had to slid the underneath piece in first, put something under it so that won’t slid out, and then work from the bottom, pull the...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I end up installing it today. Figured it something went wrong, I can leave the car in the garage in this special pandemic period. I have the 2019 model so that opening for the hitch already exists. It made things easier than you described. That hole fit the hitch very well. However, I’m having...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

This might be the first ever Curt hitch for Tesla review I ever saw on the internet. Much appreciated! My TM3 is 2019 built so has an existing opening on the bottom. Since you cut all the way to the edge of the piece, I might need to cut a tiny piece in addition to the existing opening.

A good way of measuring accurately KWH usage?

I installed a dedicated meter for the charging circuit. I charged 375kWh and drove 1250kms so far in Jan as of 23rd. I'm in Vancouver and daily around 20km to 30km with few long drives in the holidays. For me, short drives uses a lot more energy to heat up the car repeatedly. I also found that...

    Sudden Acceleration - NHTSA

It was the heaviest snow of the year when this had happened. I’m very sure I switched to chill mode and set regen to low before drive. Before that, it was in hold mode and regen set to standard. And I’m very comfortable driving in “one pedal” mode. The road is less than 1 degree downhill, if not...

    Sudden Acceleration - NHTSA

I'm not sure if it worth or not. It only happened 4 times for the last 7 - 8 months. Three happened in one snow day. So I blame the snow for now. I'll definitely consider your suggestion if it ever happen again. Thanks!

    Sudden Acceleration - NHTSA

Hmm. I never believed there's such "unintended" acceleration even after my wife hit the stuff lean on the garage wall and claimed it's the car which accelerate by itself. I smiled at her and said yes it's the car, not you. But few days ago, I noticed this "unintended" acceleration by myself...

My SR+ only has 45kW of usable battery.

Hmm, only 30 minutes break would not drain that much (5kWh if I calculated correctly) IMO. My car sitting in the garage with -7C this morning for 4 hours and drain 2kWh. That was already an extreme I would imagine (my overnight loss was less than 1kWh). Seems like your battery do have some...

Tracking Trip Details for business expense purposes

Best to install a dedicated power meter to track usage. There were different kind of losses, be it sitting loss, heating loss, charging loss and more, that each app will not report on, or they don't even track them properly. Tesla App and screen display only show you the power consumption on...

My SR+ only has 45kW of usable battery.

Everyone is experiencing this every day, more or less. Like @AlanSubie4Life asked above, did you run it down in a continuous drive or not? If so, you have battery degradation problem; If not, especially if this was drained in few days, then totally normal. Sounds like you have 5kWh (52kWh x 90%...

BC EV Charger Rebate Program $700

It’s been awhile since I follow this post. Today I finally get my charger installed. My setup is a plug modified Tesla wall connector with a dedicated power meter going through a NEMA 14-50 receptacle from an un-upgraded 100A panel. Reason being: 1. Tesla wall connector to provide higher current...

    Home Charging Setup Recommendation Needed

I end up buying the Tesla Wall Connector, as well as this particular meter. I present many options, including ChargePoint and JuiceBox, to my wife saying other options may be able to charge other EVs. My wife said, "If we are going to buy another EV, most probably is another Tesla. If that...

Model 3 Standard Range (Canada) Range: 150km

@dandan Forgot to mention, whether it’s showing 136 or 139km, it doesn’t matter. Because you won’t be able to even drive 100km with a full charge right now, I bet! For me as a SR+ owner, i can barely drive 200km with full charge if I don’t charge everyday. Hope that makes you feel better.
  38. T

Model 3 Standard Range (Canada) Range: 150km

interesting theory and making sense. Besides, recommend charging practice for SR+ owner is 20% to 80%, that translates to SR- owners means better not leave your battery below 40% (60km), and charge to full (150km) is absolutely fine. correct, guess-o-meter is not based on driving habit...

  40. T

    Battery capacity question

Battery capacity is around 52.5kWh usable. Probably 2kWh reserve hidden for the normal user ‘cause 54.5kWh at EPA testing. 55% usage is around 28.8kWh . That minus 19kWh, which is around 10kWh, was your idle loss (vampire drain). See post here Vampire Drain? Simple way of checking it ...

22% depreciation in 8 months [Update: sold it for 5.4% less than new price]

I can feel your pain. Lost 22% in 8 months is not something someone can easily take. Having said that, I strongly suggest you consider other brands as I'm very sure most of the issues you have may happen to your new car. Even worth, you might found new issues in your new car that you didn't...

BC EV Charger Rebate Program $700

Anyone scored a cheap Juicebox? Costco US has it online for 499 but would not ship to the border. Might just go with Tesla but heard @9-Volt had to upgrade the panel because it can go up to 80A. Anyone else was asked to upgrade the panel due to Tesla wall connector installation?

    Home Charging Setup Recommendation Needed

The whole idea of using JuiceBox is that it has the data logging capability. But after reading all the comments above, I may just go with the Tesla wall connector for it's higher current output (future proof ;)) and get a data logging capable meter. Now the mission is to find such a meter! If no...

Thanks for your opinion! I'm a data guy and dealing with data (not e-business kind) a person can ever think of. I can explain same set of data totally opposite and person still buy me. Home Charging Setup Recommendation Needed

Thanks for your reply! I have a SR+ (32A max) so charging speed is out of picture for me. Few things I was thinking not to install the Tesla: 1) No plug-in version available now. So I can't use my UMC as a backup if the wall connector ever fails. 2) No log so I'll need to install a dedicate...

Hi folks I got my SR+ in June this year, but not having my home charger setup yet. Mainly due to the fact that I have a lot of supercharging credits that I still have more than 6,000 miles left. And I also have access to level 2 work/mall/rec center chargers. As I don't charge every day and...
