Update: After the car sitting overnight when it woke up in the morning it was back to blowing only on the windshield. I guess the only true solution is pushing the update.

I have the exact same problem, happens intermittently, usually in the morning when I leave for work after the car sitting all night. sometimes takes over an hour to reconnect. I sent an email to technical support over a week ago, but have heard nothing.

I keep a space pen in the car myself, and I live in Florida. Never had a problem.

I did it that way and I see just fine out of mine, but I live in South Florida, where the heat makes it a necessity. The front windshield tint is clear, it just blocks UV rays. Sides and rear are dark, but easy to see through from the inside.

Get the darkest legal ceramic tint all around, including windshield.

It does not pop up after an update. When I installed mine the mobile service guy tried just pushing a new update remotely, it did not work. It requires someone to actually plug into the car with a laptop and change the configuration. My car had at least three updates from the time I installed...

It’s literally just plugging in a stock piece of equipment to a stock plug and sliding it into a stock clip which is already on the car. It’s not a mod.

It can be done with Mobile service, because that is how I did it. Installed myself and had mobile service come out. He plugged a laptop into a port under the drivers side dash to activate it. Computer showed it was active but it didn’t show on the dash. Then he spent an hour and a half...

I’m glad you are posting this. It perfectly encapsulates the problems with tesla. Fantastic cars, horrible service. Everyone I know who has a Tesla has a story like this. It really shouldn’t be this hard. How they have handled homelink has been a total disaster.

It requires a software update to work. However, the mobile service techs can do it. Technically they can do it remotely, but they might not.
