    Model Y - UK deliveries

Such a shame they decided to make it wider. That rules it out for me, not only is it a problem for the width of my garage but I find the Model 3 wide enough as it is on the fairly narrow roads around here and oncoming vehicles seemingly unable to stay their side of the centre line...

    Model S refresh!

Interior I quite like except for the hideous steering wheel and no stalks. As for the exterior, it’s one of the laziest refreshes I’ve ever seen. Overall, somewhat disappointing.

Wiki [UK] Holiday update - 2020.48.26/.30/.35.x

I don’t have FSD. What benefit do I get from seeing a huge animated version of my car on the screen showing me what it’s doing, when I already know what it’s doing? Especially when this means the map is now smaller? I genuinely don’t see any benefit over the previous layout.

Wiki [UK] Holiday update - 2020.48.26/.30/.35.x

Not liking the new screen layout, I now have a huge white largely blank (except for the irritatingly large, distracting proximity indicators) space staring at me and a significantly smaller map area. And why a smaller font for your speed? Bring on adjustable section sizes. I do like the...

    Auto Wipers are awful

Agree with others. They’re better than a year ago but basically still crap.
  6. ChrisA70

So.... I rejected my collection car today :(

The fact that there are still cars being offered to customers with numerous obvious faults is an absolute disgrace after three years of production. The £7.5k Hyundai i10 I bought 5 years ago was delivered with zero faults of any kind. Tesla needs to up its game here or there will be big problems...

Have third party chargers been implemented yet for UK?

Elon Says Level 5 by the end of the year....

I'm confident genuine FSD is years away. Right now their adaptive cruise control isn't even as good as our £17k Seat Ibiza!

So What Do We Think Of The Polestar 2?

Until the non-Tesla charging networks expand massively and become more reliable I wouldn’t consider any EV other than a Tesla. I wouldn’t be willing to risk being left high and dry on a long trip. But the Polestar 2 is a nice package. I had a good look at one last year at Fully Charged Live.

New M3 owner - Autopilot disappointment

The wipers are now much better than they were last September. But still nowhere near as good as the type you get on other cars. Not sure they can do much more with the camera based system. As for autopilot, it’s a mixed bag. Often, as others have said, it feels like a nervous Nelly learner is...

    Model 3 Performance price increase?

I’d like to see a higher incentive for EVs under £30k.
  12. ChrisA70

Thoughts on the Model Y so far

Was tempted until I found out it’s 2 inches wider than the 3 and has no parcel shelf. Plus who knows what the price premium will be in the Uk. I’ll stick with the 3.
  13. ChrisA70

    Phantom braking still an issue

Yes autopilot is pretty mediocre in my opinion.
  14. ChrisA70

Tesla Model Y - no parcel shelf

Yes it looks a bit unfinished at the sides of the rear seat. I guess it’s the same design for the 5 seat and 7 seat versions - the latter will have to be able to slide the rear seats forward to access the third row. I’d assumed it would be the same as the model 3 for the 5 seat Y. Plus the large...

Tesla Model Y - no parcel shelf

It’s a bizarre decision not to have a parcel shelf of pull out cover. I was also surprised to see the Y is a couple of inches wider than a 3. Not much but enough to make it much harder to get in and out of my garage.

    Problems after delivery

Disappointing that two and a half years into production cars with defects are still getting through factory and dealer quality control. Not good enough.

Looped Supply - Home Charge Point Installation

    I’m near Westerham, Kent.

Looped Supply - Home Charge Point Installation

I had exactly the same issue with a looped supply, UK Power Networks came back quite quickly and said it was fine to have a 7kw charger. No-one came to my home to do a survey, but I had sent Pod Point a number of pictures of the setup.

    2019.36.x - UK perspective

Yes that’s a really big deal and could reduce supercharger times to below 30 minutes to add, say, 70 percent.

    My North Coast 500 summary

Great read, thank you! I'm keen to do this next year.

V10 - Car moves to the right side of the lane when passing trucks on AP?

Mine seems to steer (albeit small amount) a lot, even on quite straight sections of road. It's as though it can only see the lines a very short distance ahead.
  28. ChrisA70

Things that could be improved on your 3

Lane change - yes I know it's part of FSD, which I do not have. For me it makes using autopilot very annoying. Maybe it's just me but I find I want to change the temperature and airflow reasonably often. What you suggest is a possibility on a major road, but most of my journeys are around town...

Things that could be improved on your 3

I wasn't able to justify the extra cost on a £38k car. Maybe when it's "feature complete"!
  30. ChrisA70

Things that could be improved on your 3

I agree with a lot of what's been said. My top gripes: The auto wipers are really poor, worse than anything I've driven in the past 15 years. Am constantly activating them with the stalk button. The gloss black trim. Looks great on day one, after that it's a complete pain in the backside. We...

The additional seals on the Model 3 really work

My Model 3 is at the service centre today to fix a whistle from the passenger side between 40 and 50mph. It’s coming from the door mirror. The technician said it might be to do with a piece of foam behind the mirror cap.
  32. ChrisA70

    Cruise control annoyance

The TACC seems quite poor. The first time I used it, Within half a mile it slammed the brakes on because of a car coming the other way in the other lane! Really disconcerting. And I’ve had a few goes with autopilot, it seems to steer almost constantly, feels like it’s moving around the lane...

    UK Owners with v10?

Also updated to 11.1 overnight. SR+ without FSD.

    Whistle from drivers side window

I haven’t had any contact about the service booking. I can take someone out in the car and demonstrate the sound within a few minutes, assuming I can get above 30mph!
  35. ChrisA70

    Whistle from drivers side window

I opened the window and it was still making the noise, so then I felt around with my hand, round the front edge of the glass roof panel and the mirror casing. When my hand was by the mirror casing it stopped.

UK M3 owners - EO mini Pro or Tesla wall connector?

I would recommend the PodPoint - purchasing and installation process went very smoothly and it works perfectly.
  37. ChrisA70

    Auto volume adjustment with speed

    Seems a surprising omission.
  38. ChrisA70

    Whistle from drivers side window

I have a high pitched sound between roughly 30 and 50mph. I thought it was the window, but it actually seems to be coming from the door mirror casing. I've booked it in.

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

Yep, just format and put a folder called TeslaCam on there. Also works fine with the splitter that came with the TapTes wireless phone charging pad, with a USB stick in the second splitter. The TapTes pad is great value I think.

    Another Heathrow collection!

Collected my Midnight Silver Model 3 SR+ from Heathrow at lunchtime today. Very efficiently done and a group of us had a little presentation about some of the key features before being shown our cars. Am pleased to report the car had no paintwork/bodywork issues, and the car was charged to 97%...

    Interior lighting on SR+

What's the best place to buy the upgraded lights?
  44. ChrisA70

    Fastest UK superchargers

Completely agree, I think the focus should be on adding V2 locations and the number of stalls at each location and adding Model 3 compatibility to each existing system stall. Perhaps I’m biased as I believe the SR+ is limited to 100kw charging so the V3 does nothing for me!

Just had a call from Tesla delivery, I’m also collecting on the 20th! In the space of about 4 hours I’ve gone from no news, no VIN, to collection in four days’ time - this is nuts!

    Main Fuse/Power Upgrade 80amp?, 100amp?, Confused.

I've been told by PodPoint that my 60 amp fuse is fine with my 7.2kw charger. They said the charger can detect what load is on the house and throttle down if required (no idea how that works except it is something to do with a second wire going into the meter cupboard...). But my charging will...
