    Arghhhhh - single track roads!

This is a totally different setting elsewhere on the panel which i also have set to 'late' This is a very specific error that happens on single track roads and is related to the 'emergency lane departure' toggle which is not possible to be adjusted except on a per journey basis.

    Arghhhhh - single track roads!

Oh no. Then we can't even get Tesla to fix this? How do we influence NCAP? This really is crazy... a safety regulation which makes my driving more dangerous?
  3. X

    Arghhhhh - single track roads!

My wife is the same! It is certainly the 'emergency lane assist' toggle that is the cause of my grief. If it is turned off - no problems.

    Arghhhhh - single track roads!

Hmmm - we really need to get this changed with an update. It probably only affects a tiny percentage of users... but for those of us that do live in these areas it is infuriating. My wife always forgets what setting to disable and (quite rightly) wonders why she has to faff about in the car...

    Arghhhhh - single track roads!

This really is doing my head in. I live in a rural area with single track roads all over the place. EVERY single time I forget to turn off emergency lane assist when I start the car I get aggravating damgerous klaxons going off and dodgy steering once or twice per trip as the car tries to...

    [UK] 2020.32.x

So this update has messed with my AP experience. I use AP on a stretch of road that isn't dual carriageway (with caution) and there are 2 particular corners on it that it has always struggled with. Both are on slight upward hills with a curve at the top. The tesla often doesn't see them or...

Unpleasant Experience nearly running out of charge on M6

Urghhh - horrible. Had very similar happen to me once... was relying on the chargers in Pitlochry... only to find them out of order when i arrived and ended up driving 4 or 5 miles on 0 charge like you. I also found the estimate for the last 10-20 miles to be wildly wrong despite me driving...

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

Don't worry... sorted it. I just drive in reverse all the time now. The nice big reverse camera is very effective and I don't get lane departure warnings anymore! It only causes issues when i get confused what way to turn the wheel / set my indicators when overtaking.... but practice makes...

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

That is the wrong setting you are looking at. That one is adjustable and saves.... the one that causes the issue is the next setting down "emergency lane departure" This is the setting which you need to disable each and every time you restart start the car.
  11. X

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

Yes.. as i stated in my OP. The issue is "this will reset at the start of each driving cycle"
  12. X

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

Erm no. it doesn't make any sense as.... the roads we are talking about dont have lane markings. It can go off whenever using a passing space as in the picture posted by another user... I assume you aren't suggesting i flick my indicators every 10 to 20 seconds on my journey?
  13. X

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

There are no lane markings mate... it is a single track road. I cant flash my indicators every time I go through a passing space (every 20 seconds approx)!
  14. X

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

    Lol. Single. Track. Road.
  15. X

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

I think you are right - the passing spaces i am talking about have indistinct borders/ tallish grass at their edges more so than others that don't trigger the warning. These are very rural roads in Scotland and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in considerably worse nick than the kind you...

Emergency lane assist doing my head in.

So i live in a rural area of mainly single track roads. Bit of an issue I am finding is that the tesla keeps thinking I have fallen asleep at the wheel. There are a few passing spaces that I regularly end up in that set of a cacophany of chimes and corrective movements from the wheel...

    Voice command usage?

So you still have to touch the screen? OK.. so it is a bit crap then. Although - in my experience it doesn't show everything in my USB stick to do with coldplay by default... it usually has a few obscure podcast titles... then I need to click on album or artist tab and go from there.... not...

    Voice command usage?

How do you use it for music? Have you found a way for it to play music that you ask for? (Not just search for it and force you to press screen anyway).
  19. X

    Voice command usage?

How are you guys even using it for music?????????? I find the voice commands to be generally terrible... but specifically for music.... If I say "play 'violence' by 'Grimes'"... it will (sometimes) correctly interpret the language.... then look up the song violence by grimes in the search...

    [UK] 2020.20.x

Dissapointing. This is exactly my experience up to now and am interested to hear if anyone else has had different. I was wondering if the update would fix it. Voice recognition seems better in last few months... so if I say "play creep by radiohead" it will correctly translate it.... then...

Tesla Referral Code Please [the one and only UK thread]

Yeah I didn't realise how you had to have a referral code ready to go as soon as you order on website. I regret not using someone on the forums code prior to ordering. i did try a few hours after the order - but was too late!

Autopilot saving us (and them) against soft targets.

Sorry to make a new thread - but I think my request has been buried in the old one... Oh Deer. As per the video below... I narrowly missed a deer this week. AP wasn't engaged - but emergency assisted braking was. I managed to slam my brakes and slowed enough to avoid impact (by inches I...
  25. X

    Oh Deer.

I wonder if that is why the model X in England allegedly braked when the tree fell in front of it - the shadow got picked up? I really do think the cars should be calibrated to stop if a deer (or human) comes on the scene as here though. When it fills so much of the video frame it should be...
  26. X

    Oh Deer.

Yeah - I saw that and wondered what happened there. If it could detect a falling tree (incredible edge case scenario) why not a large deer running in front of the car? I have AEB on and it didn't do squat. Not sure iof having it on full Autopilot would have been any better - but obviously...
  27. X

    Oh Deer.

2020.4.1 I did reflect that LIDAR would presumably have picked this up... hmmmm. Hopefully Tesla are looking at this scenario.
  28. X

    Oh Deer.

I kind of wondered myself - but it didn't.
  29. X

    Oh Deer.

Bit close for comfort. No AP on single track roads but I saw it just in time and the brakes worked well. Would be nice if the car recognised this as a threat and braked for me... but no sign of that.

    Mild corrosion on electricity adaptor.

I see there is a little bit of green corrosion starting on one of the pins of my electrical adaptor for plugging in at home. It is on the outside of a garage so a bit exposed to the elements despite being covered when not in use. Is it Ok to use some di electric grease to protect these types...

Some (possibly) new thoughts after a month with a M3

Family feeling sick in my M3 as well. I think because it is far too tempting to accelerate quicker than i normally wouldd after stops. Im surprised the OP is so happy with auto wipers... have you ever driven in the dark in drizzle? It doesn't work. At least voice commands for the wipers...

Car trying to avoid a phantom on back road - which feature should I disable?

Quite! This isn't about the reliability of AP... we all know it can be a bit sketchy and hopefully only use it on appropriate roads. It is more than a bit concerning that the car is auto steering us into the side of the road when we are meant to be in full control.... no AP involved. I tried...

Car trying to avoid a phantom on back road - which feature should I disable?

Has happened to me on a single track back road 3 times now. No AP on obviously. Each time it said the car had tried to save me from something... it was in fact trying to kill me. Would like to know which feature this is as well.

2019.40.50.1 - Car is mostly deaf to voice commands

Yeah - i was working through them last night. None of the show/ open commands work for me. I can receive texts - but can't use voice commands to send them. The media playing is still very poor. If you say "Play lucky by radiohead" It correctly inputs the text.. but fails to find the song...

2019.40.50.1 - Car is mostly deaf to voice commands

I tried it out last night on wi-fi - seemed to work much better than 50.1 for me. but for some inexplicable reason the UK version just doesn't seem to understand some commands at all - 'show rear camera" for example, but also a number of others. The ones that did work were great (wiper...

    2019.40.2.1 now available in UK

Yeah it isn't natural - and for the first few weeks I found just that - I kept having to act contrary to the car to stop the nag... sometimes disengaging AP by accident. Seriously - try the technique I described a few posts back... it works like a charm. Instead of reacting to the car you are...

£100s of pounds a year? that sounds a bit pessimistic? TBH - it has already saved me £50... and now I would be too worried NOT to have it on... if serious damage happened to my car and i had to use my insurance / lose my NCD and pay the massive excess I would be seriously out of pocket...

So... only had my car a couple of months and someone reversed into me in a car park. They drove off without stopping. Small scuffs on the front....no indentation thank goodness. Local garage say they can buff it out for less than £50. Anyway... without having the whole thing on camera...
