Hmmm not sure how you get <$53k new, when I configure it comes out to $63.6k new. Maybe you are thinking about tax incentives, but of course not everyone qualifies for those and you may be aware that they are proposing tax incentives for 2 year old electric car resale. In any case thanks for...

Tesla Model S l 22" Wheels in Matte Black fitted with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta - 255/30/22

i wish they made the staggered setup in the Pilot super sport but as luck would have it tirerack doesn't have any tires in the staggered setup. what are people doing for the 245/35/21 in front with a matching 265/35/21 in rear?
Take 1000 grit wet/dry 3m sand paper. Soak in water. Sand lightly in circular motion.
Take 2000 grit wet/dry 3m sand paper. Repeat same process
Take 3000 grit 3M sponge pad (used by body shops and hard to find except online). Repeat same process
Use painters tape at the edge of the seam to...
Honestly i wouldn't do 245's. The factory setup has a load rating of 1565 lbs per wheel. The 245/30/22 is 1389 lbs per wheel. That's a difference of 352 lbs in the front of the car and that is a lot! There's plenty of room up front for a 255 especially if you push the offset out by 5mm...
i have 22's as well and i have a 22x9 in the front. I have a 255/30/22 on the front and it rubs ever so slightly only in reverse. I would NOT go to a 245/30/22 because you have a weight rating problem. Technically even the 255/30/22 is under spec for max load. My recommendation is to go...
I've used quality spacers on my Porsche's both a 996TT and a CTTS without any problem. The real issue is getting a hub centric quality spacer and making sure you have enough turns of the thread and proper torque. I always rechecked it 50 miles after driving for any settling issues and then it...
@reed: I like them too. They are 22x9 but I'm selling them as I think I like the 21 staggered forged wheels better. I bought them from A&E and I'm looking to do the t sport line wheels. I have them up on eBay where you can see more pics. http://bit.ly/1gMcOyy
So this now day 4 of the project and the car is coming together nicely. The question is do I also cover the b pillar or leave it shiny glass black? Opinions please...

@Man_Utd - thanks for the link
@Twoeage - I'm actually thinking a Ferrari Yellow may be fun. I'll play with it and decide. Nice thing is you can always change it up as you see fit.

Need to replace my tires (of which currently i have 255/30/22). The current setup rubs ever so slightly (in reverse only during turn). Needless to say I'm considering a pirelli p0 nero for the front which runs every so slight narrower than other tire mfg'ers and in the rear i'm thinking a...
I've had 22's on my model S for ~1 year. The ride quality definitely degrades. Unfortunately most tire manufacturer tires will cause mild rubbing in reverse at full turn. However, I haven't had any deformed or cracked wheels. I just recently checked them and they are balanced and true after...
So we now have two model S's in the family. I have two questions:
1. Is there a way to make the keys interoperate with both cars. So rather than having different key fobs for different cars can you simply just have one fob that operates two cars?
2. I'm thinking of swapping the wheels...
Sigh - my wife was driving the Model S to LA (from SF Bay Area). Made it to Harris Ranch. Plugged in to supercharger and it didn't charge. First time every plugging in to a supercharger. Called Tesla and after 3 hours+ of remote diagnostics and trying several chargers they determined it was...

I spoke to Hugo.
2 people picked up the consoles in person
8 have shipped out
The only ones that haven't shipped are ones that have the cell phone mounts. He ordered the incorrect mount - so I let him know which one I used which was for an iPhone 5 (made by proclipusa). I told him he had...
thanks for the kind words. I too wanted a hinged cover and there wasn't an easy way to do it. The fab costs would have added a lot and that would make it considerably higher priced. So needless to say I opted out. I really like how it came out but I'm really looking forward to hearing from...
So today we test fitted the next 10 units that are now complete. It was awesome to see this many being built of my design. I must say that carbon fiber looks spectacular. What I really like about the carbon fiber is they wrapped the top so the edges are finished and it looks like a solid...
Yes Sid wants to check the fit in my car. He has a bunch done but I've been a bit busy to get over there. It's my fault. I'm going to do it Saturday am.
@Electric1: Hugo can be reached at (650) 969-1539
@Raven5000: Yes the angle was a bit off. I adjusted it myself and it now has a angle bias toward the driver. Very observant
I took another pic without the phone so you can get a better feel for what it looks like.
My update -- I feel...
OK picked mine up today. Really really like the cell phone holder. The only slight mod I would do is to angle it a little toward the driver but I actually think that's just a mounting issue. Super cool. See pic below, i'll try to take some better ones tomorrow.
final cell phone solution coming. I didn't pickup today - will get it tomorrow and post pics. I believe the final price is $472 in piano black or carbon fiber (same price). If you want the cell phone mount add $40 + shipping. Please contact Hugo at Sid's to get on the list and ETA info... I...
yes call Hugo at Sid's Custom Upholstery in Mountain View, CA (650)969-1539. He's taking a little longer to finish mine off and it should be done tomorrow. will post pics.
Well we got the trim rings in. I think it dresses it up nicely. The last part of getting this thing out of "beta" is to improve the phone holder mount. Sid's is doing that and it should be done by tomorrow. Meanwhile thought I'd share the trim ring pic.
Timing: Sid's will be sending out...
@DrComputer -- well that's a good question. For me - NO. I'm not in this to make any profit what so ever. I simply designed a solution for myself and thought I'd build a couple along the way to lower cost for myself and others. That being said I did get an invitation and I passed it along to...
That's a good question on center bore - I think Ellie got it correct but as you know you don't have to exactly match the center bore just can't get under it. Perhaps the 64mm was a don't get lower than number. Would love to know.
Thanks for all the compliments - I really like the wheels!
Yes correct - they are the AE10 22x9 et 35 with the correct center bore (63.1mm). Ellie had several sets custom drilled for the Tesla and the custom center caps. So the link provided on the page 1 is where I ordered my set.
