    Google Home/Assistant Tesla Commands

Nice! Yeah what I'll do is send you the proposed changes on github so its essentially the same base code. I've had to enhance the code for supporting multiple cars, I'll send you that too.

BizJet's code is good and is already the basis for something that will be for the Google Assistant. ;)

There's nothing to "publish" on IFTTT because as I said in the reply, it uses the "maker channel". The steps are: - Google Home 'trigger' on IFTTT, e.g. "unlock <carname>" - IFTTT action via Maker channel to send request at web server on RPi (RPi has to be on the internet / webserver, static...

    Google Home/Assistant Tesla Commands

Yes, you can integrate via Google Home and IFTTT with a Maker channel that e.g. talks to RPi that in turn talks to Tesla. I have something though all I have at the moment is "unlock" and "turn on climate". I don't think Tesla have a good way of giving out partial credentials and I already used a...

    Model X Dashboard

actually, there's a bug (that i consider a 'useful feature') whereby if you set your navigation to a destination THEN reach that destination it keeps the heads-up map on display and doesn't remove it. bug is still present in 7.1

Strange network behavior... car incessantly attacking my nameserver

my guess is they did a relatively simple fix for CVE-2015-7547 to stop people using that as an attack vector and got it slightly wrong. my guess is they just did an iptables rule to block dns responses >512 bytes without necessarily realizing their own servers do this because of the CNAME.

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

ok, so this is not exactly "spotted" in Australia, but its a shout out to happy 'straya day listening to the Triple J Hottest 100 while driving home this evening here in California while making use of autopilot in ordinary traffic (note the car in front of me not even in the lane anymore LOL).

    Black seats in hot climate?

If parked with sun coming in the windscreen on a hot (90+F) day in NorCal, yes black next gen seats are HOT to touch when wearing shorts. Just turn on cooling a few minutes beforehand and its fine - or wait 10 seconds and its not an issue. Its no worse than any other car.

Fremont SC only drawing 10A on my car.

your car says 'charging' not 'supercharging'. voltage is also charger not supercharger. are you sure you were actually at the Supercharger????

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

Indeed. As a P85D owner I'm totally fine with how the car behaves. As far as I'm concerned, its to spec. To me its very clear that the car acceleration behaves differently based on SOC and battery temperature. Not rocket science. Maybe the complainers would like Tesla to disable traction...

    Supercharger - Wodonga VIC

No not batteries. These look the same as what is used in superchargers here in US (California). Inside each of these cabinets is 12 x rectifier modules (AC->DC), which are basically the 'same' units as what you have inside your car except they're in a ~3RU type rack-mount enclosure. Each...

Is Air Conditioning less effective at high altitude?

Into a 2nd page of the thread any noone has actually responded to on anything physics related. heh. Short answer is yes: lower air pressure (higher altitude) = lower convective heat transfer capability. Put another way, the air is thinner and has less ability to carry heat. (in the context...

    Firmware 6.2

got 250 yesterday evening. noticed this morning reversing out of driveway that the slow-speed reversing (dual motor) was less 'jerky' than in the past. (i suspect at low speed its hard for them to sync the speed front/rear between two motors of different sizes at different rpm/reduction ratios...

    Floormat attachment (front passenger)

Yes, they are removable. Rotate counter-clockwise, there's a plastic screw moulded into the back of them holding them down. Easy to put back down if you want via clockwise.

    OSS and Tesla

you seem to making the assumption they modify the kernel. its not likely they do that as there is simply no reason to.

    Model S REST API

if you can read perl, just go read the code at tesla_telemetry/poller.pl at master · lincolntdale/tesla_telemetry · GitHub its pretty simple.....
  17. P

    Model S REST API

tree/code is at lincolntdale/tesla_telemetry · GitHub run it once, it will create a config file and exit (default is /root/tesla/tesla_poller.cfg). edit that file and where it says INSERT_USERNAME_HERE and INSERT_PASSWORD_HERE put your teslamotors.com email/password there. then run it a second...

    Model S REST API

are you familiar with Linux and Perl? If so, i've got a script I use that gathers telemetry from a Banana Pi (Raspberry Pi but with SATA interface) into mongodb. Its a ~250 line perl script that gathers vehicle_state, drive_state, climate_state, charge_state as well as streaming telemetry and as...

    Firmware 6.2

Just got 6.2 (2.4.168). "Insane mode is now more insane! Your car accelerates even faster when in insane mode, improving 0-to-60-mph performance in this mode from 3.2 seconds to 3.1 seconds. The accelerator pedal is also more responsive in insane mode." Thanks Teslati folks. :)
  23. P

Firmware 6.2 poll to say when you got it

yes. yes. not in a "there is a human looking at every route planned" but rather its simply ingested into a big data / hbase space and there's likely a process that also generates the lottery of order-of-firmware-push. certainly that is likely a factor in the mix too however there would be...

Firmware 6.2 poll to say when you got it

no. I got it yesterday (Tuesday) morning - in fact, got it Monday night but didn't install until Tuesday morning. this is for a P85D delivered on Thursday last week. i had a hunch on Sunday how to game the system to likely get to the head of the queue for 6.2 upgrade. my theory was that they...

Melb Meet - Sunday 29 March

Won't be there as I moved from Melbourne to California with work. Will be there in spirit (and happy to say took delivery today of my P85D. [took the opportunity of moving country to upgrade] :) ).

    Tesla in Australia

Its $14800 USD for P85D. From memory this is roughly the same as what a P85+ was above a P85. Its $4000 USD for S85/S60 which doesn't require 21", Tech Pkg or Smart Air Suspension.
  27. P

How many are going to delay their orders after seeing the live Event?

Well run company operationally. If anyone _does_ delay, it won't impact Tesla financials/revenue/current qtr in a negative way: - P85D shipping December - will likely mean higher gross margins + revenue. Fantastic company execution.
  28. P

    Predictions on P85D+ performance figures?

You're making assumptions that (a) its the same size motor, (b) its the same ratio gearing. Its likely Tesla wouldn't materially change the motor (reuse what they already have) but I think its entirely reasonable that they'd use a different fixed-ratio gearbox to provide a different...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

In VIC we have "smart meters" that have a wireless mesh connectivity that don't require meter readers to walk streets. Seems that in NSW thats not the case (NSW government to sell national electricity meters), at least not yet, so what I have where I can get the same 'data' that the energy...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

thats just the PV generation data. there's plenty of other data that is collected. BTW to give you an idea of just how much PV generation bounces around, here's 15 minutes of aggregate data. note how "TotPow" column varies from 1903Wh @ 12:54:58pm then its at 4820Wh @ 12:56:58pm then back at...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

for people on SFIT rather than TFIT/PFIT: maybe. but for anyone on PFIT (exports back to grid earn a credit of 60c+/kWh) or TFIT (exports back to grid earn you credit of 33c/kWh) when you can then buy energy back off-peak at ~10c/kWh: i doubt it. do you already have solar panels or are just...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

please go read the referenced material i posted. its 100% renewable. again apples/oranges. you are making the mistake of comparing an 'anytime' tariff structure with the TOU tariff structure that people with PFIT were placed on in UED distribution area. with a EV like a Tesla you're far far...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

i'm talking about the offpeak + peak rates for TOU metering in NMI 61 (UED distibution area) with PFIT. i'm also talking about what would be the actual real cost taking into account the last 36 months of interval data i have recorded. indeed those are their FIT rates - and that 0.68 is the GST...

The Model S is powerful, let's make that power sustainable

Am in VIC with 5KW of PFIT in UED. This means that the rates powershop offer are as per http://www.powershop.com.au/content/ppis/PSH-UE-SP-40417-XR.pdf If thats the best they do, Momentum Energy 100% energy from renewable sources is substantially better.

    Home Charging

You're in NZ which is slightly further south of the equator, so its a little hard to give general advice, but assuming Auckland is a similar KW/m^2 irradiation as Melbourne Australia, you can look at my 5KW (4.86KW actual) system on pvoutput.org, which i've been uploading data to every 2 minutes...
  36. P

    Home Charging

This is bad advice. Many houses here don't have a "breaker" as the main switch, rather its just a switch.
  37. P

    Home Charging

Note that everything is 'derated' and sizing is around protecting the cabling, so if you've got an 80A cable to the street its likely you have a -20% derating (63A) master switch on your main switch board. I think you've likely added up wrong though, because while you likely have a 32A breaker...
  38. P

    Tesla in Australia

yes - no electric hot water or heating here. based on discussion/meetup of Melbourne folk with Cary from Tesla the wall-mounted charging unit for Australia would be up to 32A maximum so it would be on a 40A breaker and derated 20%, which (in my case) should be fine.

    Tesla in Australia

My day job is certainly NOT being a sparkie - so thank you for your informed comments. Separate to the thread here, I'd started a thread for the sparkies on renovateforum.com. Alas, I'm now thinking that what i thought was a 63A circuit breaker on the master switch is likely just a master switch...
  40. P

    Tesla in Australia

No - it doesn't work like that. Sizing is based on "maximum demand" not "maximum rating" and common sense prevails. Its not likely every circuit you have would be at 100% of the breaker load. Its likely you would be charging off-peak. You do have off-peak elec h/w heating - so that may be a...

    Tesla in Australia

What makes you think you may need three phase? I'm led to believe its technically feasible to get 40A single phase which (assuming 95% efficiency) which is 8.7kWh/hr. Ok its not supercharger territory (200+A/~350-390V DC) but its likely 'good enough' for majority of cases. The only way three...
  42. P

    Tesla in Australia

The question can only be answered by first knowing if you have single phase or three phase power in your house. If you don't know the answer to this then go look at your switchboard / meter and see if you have breakers in gangs of 3 or just single ones and that answers this question. For...

    Tesla in Australia

Not correct. Sierra Wireless AR8550 module is used on the module behind touchscreen: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=45312&d=1395148747 It needs to be a Sierra Wireless AR8552 to have correct frequencies for Australia. Without that its likely operating in 2G or at...

No - you're not understanding what I'm saying. The 'radio' is EITHER: 850/900/2100 OR 850/1900 and its physically different radio hardware. See map at http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html and note that Aus is in a different band to USA for GSM/3G. Stating this a slightly different way...
  47. P

    Tesla in Australia

the issue of 'slow' data is likely because of frequency differences. assuming Tesla use AT&T in USA, 3G operates at 850MHz/1900MHz (HSPA/HSPA+). Telstra on the other hand have 3G at 850Mhz/2100MHz. I'm sure it can be sorted out with a bit of firmware work - but likely what you see in the...

    Tesla in Australia

Short answer: Let me google that for you But longer answer is: what makes you think you need LDW/CDW? Suggest you look into travel insurance and what it covers. As to whether Tesla would allow you a test drive while there ... who knows ... they have their own Ts&Cs. Have you asked them?

    Tesla in Australia

No idea if its available for any AU reservation holder or not. In my experience, I've found Tesla to be responsive to anything you ask. I've generally just emailed Naomi but with Sam coming onboard I guess that would be the process. I had a test drive a number of visits ago that was organized...
