    Supercharger - Flagstaff, AZ

I just charged at Flagstaff. It was my 14th supercharger of the trip and the fastest one yet at 289mph (we have one of the earlier batteries - 90kw). The Marriott is nice also -- great lounge and a little market for snacks/drinks. You can follow our trip at musings on the strait and narrow...

    Elon driving cross-country

Gallup is showing up in the database. I was there around midnight last night and there was actually a glitch -- I ended up charging down the road at USA RV site, but by the time I left around 7 this morning, Tesla had already responded, updated the supercharger firmware and powered it up. So...

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Just left the Worthington supercharger and had a cup of soup at Ground Round. It will be great when Albert Lea is online, because it was a bit of a stretch to the Worthington stop. I actually stopped at a community college in Albert Lea that had a solar-powered J1772. Props to them, but I'd...

    Wisconsin Supercharger Discussion & Tracking

Just went by Madison yesterday and took a picture. Still a little ways to go. - - - Updated - - - I hit all of the Wisconsin superchargers yesterday actually. I'm driving from Chicago to LA, taking Elon's LA to NY route, backwards. I am blogging it here -...

Folks who stretched: Will you do it again given another chance or regret buying Tesla

Loving this thread. We stretched. The only vehicles I have owned have been old hand-me-downs from family members meaning I have not spent more than $1 purchasing them. My husband's biggest purchase was a $3000 car. Our Model S was obviously a big jump. We are a one-car family (plus an...

how i reduce my cold weather long distance range anxiety

I haven't noticed much change until about 20*F. The biggest issues I've had are when it gets down into the single digits and negative numbers and then you'll start to see more drop and issues with the HVAC taking your energy and the battery having trouble getting warm.

Attn female owners: journalist comments on lack of female Tesla drivers

Female owner here too. I always seem to get suprised faces whenever people ask about my car. Usually they assume it belongs to my husband (or father). Perhaps there's a age bias there also.

Older Teslas limited to 90kW Supercharging

Or you were super lucky, because you were one of the first to get a Model S! - - - Updated - - - From what it looks like, yes, it really does take a new battery. Which is why it must not be an easy fix. It's not as if we didn't expect battery engineering to get better. I feel a twinge of...

How to plan a road trip - how long will it take?

@Toto_48313 - Do you have a list of what the points are? I'll be driving from Minneapolis to LA the second week of January. Haven't figured out how I'm going to get through South Dakota yet.... among other places.

which may only be able to be done by the man himself. :)

    Fog Lights Gone?

Fog lights are no longer being offered. They were previously. And they are separate from the cornering lights. Cornering lights are still offered as part of the tech package.

Has any S been driven to shutdown? (other than Broder's)

I have gotten towed in a flatbed though. I had 3 miles left of range and about 9 miles to go until the next charger, so I called roadside to be safe. If you call that safe, that is...

    EVs at Bonnaroo?

Any one planning on going to Bonnaroo in their Tesla? I'm wondering if there's much around there for charging. I know they're trying to implement some "sustainable practices", but they don't even have plug-ins for the RVs, let alone the EVs.

Daily Commuting in a Model S

Used to dread my commute (in a loud, gas-guzzling, 13 year old, 200,000++ miles beat-up, leaky ford explorer)... now I've donated said vehicle to charity and my commute is quite tolerable. 80 miles round trip every day in my Model S in Chicago city traffic. Good music, comfy seat, quiet, nice...

I Learned About EVs From That ...

Great posts. We are learning a lot here. I think it's fair to say that it does take a little practice and research to be a successful EV owner Which is what some of the fuss regarding the recent NYT article has been (although, Elon's response article was pretty fantastic). You can't just...

A "scary" trip from Davis CA to Los Angeles...

I think the EPA rated range is fair. Most people probably don't get the rated MPG's out of their gas guzzlers either. It helps to know the rated range means that your average Wh/mi is about 319. Ideal range would be at 283 Wh/mi. You can keep an eye on that on your energy chart and trip...

Has any S been driven to shutdown? (other than Broder's)

I've gotten into my car when it was reading 0 miles and driven six miles home without it shutting down.

    Worst Case Scenario?

The "old" adapters are matte colored. The new replacement adapters are glossy. Many of the matte adapters have no problems and after more inquiries, I don't think it's really weather related. As far as I know, they will replace your old one with a glossy one for free though. The glossy one...

    Worst Case Scenario?

Yes, as I said it was a learning experience for my first road trip and there were plenty of areas for lessons to be learned, albeit the hard way. Although, I can't say avoiding Dixon or the airport would have been an option, less I want to leave my fiance and friend and travel alone (perhaps...

    Leaving Vehicle On

Leaving the FOB in the car doesn't leave the screens on, but putting it in neutral and setting the parking brake does. I remember now that is what my delivery specialist had told me as well. Thanks everyone!

    Leaving Vehicle On

Question: How can you (driver) exit the vehicle while leaving the display on for the passenger? Usually when you exit and shut the door all of the displays go black. Any suggestions? This would come in handy when running in somewhere while leaving a passenger sitting in the car.

    Worst Case Scenario?

eelton -- I encourage you to push it at least a little further than that. I work 45 miles from home. On a regular basis, I go to and from work, visit friends and run errands all in the same day without even thinking about my range or charging outside of my garage. Of course, this will be...

    Worst Case Scenario?

For clarification -- I used Recargo, PlugShare and ChargePoint. The problem was I was driving between Dixon, IL and Rochester, MN and there were very few plugs. Some of the plugs I found were not on those apps, because there were only 1-2 plugs on the apps which did not work for various...

    Worst Case Scenario?
