Turning on heated seats without turning on A/C

I guess this depends on the definition of AC and why I said "climate system". By "climate system", I guess I'm saying the same thing as you say "AC panel". Now, if you are turning off just the AC portion of the climate system, then your climate system is still on and so will behave differently...

    Three-phase charging question

It is not adding the voltages together and I never said that. As @cafz explained, they are wired differently to the usual 3 Phase power outlet so you actually get 3 phases of 240V each running through a HPWC. Look at the OP's original picture. They are charging at 16A but are getting 12kW...

    Three-phase charging question

Did you note that I said "effectively"? It is 240V x 3, while technically not 720V, it is effectively 720V. If I charge with single phase and 5A it is charging at 1.2kW (240x5). If I charge with three phase and 5A it is charging at 3.6kW which equals 240x3x5.

    Three-phase charging question

And just to add to what @cafz says, with three phase it is effectively charging at 720V+/-5V.

Turning on heated seats without turning on A/C

It is actually the other way around. I always turn off the climate system when I get home (so the damn thing doesn't come on every time I open a door). When I want to turn it all back on, I just tap the temperature. It turns on (with the same settings it had before) without opening the panel...

    Autopilot/Lane Departure Warning

On my Model 3, I have Lane Departure Avoidance set to Warning. If I drift out of my lane, the car jiggles the steering wheel to warn me I have drifted out of my lane. The sensation is not unlike running over bumpy lane markers but happens even when the lane marking is just paint. It happens...

Fuel excise reduction / ZLEV road-user charge

The fuel excise has been halved (for 6 months) to help reduce the price of fuel at the bowser. As far as I am aware, the price of electricity is not going up. If anything it is going down. While the theory was for the fuel excise to cover road use, in practice it just goes into general revenue.

TESLA RECALL - VIN RECALL SEARCH

How typical of Tesla... I mean really? This could be 100% automated and we shouldn't have to enter our VIN. The VIN is associated with our accounts so at worst, all you should need to do is log in with your account and it tell you if your car has been recalled. But hey, let's get a light show...

    Auto High Beam ceased working

Yes, I think that is the behaviour of "Auto High Beam". With it on, you can override by puling on the stalk. Pushing should toggle the high beam on (but it may not actually turn high beam on until you are in a situation where it wants you to have it on).

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have certainly noticed the last two but they don't seem to stay up long enough to do anything. To be fair, though, I haven't tried as I find the Auto Wipers work fine (so don't need to adjust) and as yet I have not needed to turn the demisters on, as I always have AC on. I will try the first...

That's a pretty poor UI design for a car if it requires you to always carry a passenger!

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

There is no voice command, plus you can't turn the fog lights on if the headlights are not on (hence my comment about being during the day). To turn on the front and rear fog lights, you have to make 5 presses on the touch screen, including reaching across the screen to switch to the Lights...

I guess you have not yet driven into fog during the day. Voice controls won't help you there.

    Auto High Beam ceased working

@evpaddie I think I have a solution for you. Park the car in a dark place (e.g. your garage). Make sure your lights are set to Auto Make sure Auto High Beam is on If is dark and you're sitting in the car, the lights should be on. Turn on high beam by pushing the left stalk (note that high beam...

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

Actually, I think Scan My Tesla is probably keeping the car awake so it can do its measurements and is actually skewing its own results. i.e. the act of measuring is affecting the measurements.

    Charging is tripping circuit breaker

It would be pretty easy to check which of these cases is most likely. If the 63A RCD is the ONLY thing that trips when the 32A UMC tail is powered AND the 32A UMC tail is no longer powered, the 32A circuit is almost certainly running through the 63A RCD. If the 63A RCD is the ONLY thing that...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

First long drive with this version yesterday. It appears the "phantom off ramp" problem is back (or it was never actually fixed). Twice the car dropped the TACC MAX to 100km/h and didn't put it back. For a short period I though the "Headlights on with wipers" as working. As I was driving it...

    Auto High Beam ceased working

Show me where that says it will turn High Beam on automatically, rather than auto-dim. As I said above, I (accidentally) had Auto High Beam on for months and it never turned high beam on for me. Not once. If I did manually turn high beam on, it would dim when it detected another car. It would...

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

That was standard with the older UMC and tails supplied with the car. I thought the newer tails were updated to 10A.
  23. A

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

@doggy1 How are you actually charging? I think one reason for inefficiencies is if the car is not asleep. When I did my charge test yesterday, the car was asleep for the whole hour. This means there would have been almost no drain on the battery from the car itself. I know if I charge with...

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

I just did a test with my Model 3. I charged it for exactly one hour at 5A single phase and it added 7km to the distance (which is exactly what I expected). I can post pictures if you like.

    Auto High Beam ceased working

"Auto High Beam" got turned on for me some months ago by one of the updates. It must have been on for a few months before I realised. At no point did it ever turn high beam on for me - even driving down Lapstone Hill at 90km/h in the dark. What id did do was if I manually turned on high beam...

    Charging is tripping circuit breaker

But it is tripping the RCD for the two power circuits. If that unlabelled 32A RCBO is the one for the charger circuit, it should trip and not the existing RCD.
  27. A

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Plus it is the law to have headlights on with wipers in 18 US states (the most populous states where Teslas are most likely to be owned).
  28. A

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

Please explain... If I charge at 5A (single phase), I get ~7km/h. If I charge at 10A (single phase), I get around 14km/h. At 20A, it's ~28km/h. I can't seen any inefficiencies here at all.
  29. A

    Charging is tripping circuit breaker

It is not a "main breaker". It is an RCD that was added after. As it only provides protection for the two 20A (not 40A) power circuits there will be a main breaker (which covers all circuits) somewhere else. The problem here is the electrician should NOT have wired the new 32A circuit through...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It is so nice that your headlights turn on in heavy rain but mine don't as I have already said! Isn't it?
  31. A

    Charging is tripping circuit breaker

By the way, if that RCD is tripping, then the 32A circuit for the charger is wired into it which is not good!
  32. A

    Charging is tripping circuit breaker

Looking at the picture, that is not the main breaker. It is simply the RCD for the two power circuits and is labeled as such. "RCD Circuit 1&2". Those two power circuits are only 20A each so 63A is more than enough for 40A.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

THIS! A few weeks ago while I was driving the rain got very heavy and the visibility significantly. Obviously I slowed down but I couldn't be sure if cars behind me would slow down. I had to struggle to turn the lights using the stupid touch screen while trying to keep my eyes on the road. I...

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

How long is a piece of string? Better to look at the charge speed based on charge current. As you have a Powerwall already, you can easily see from the app how much "excess" solar you have at various points in the day. For charging from solar, in my opinion a charger that can go up to 32A...
  36. A

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Not sure if mine ever did put the lights on with the wipers but it definitely doesn't now. It is a real pain. I'm actually surprised because the majority of the US (from a population perspective) it is actually the law to put the lights on with the wipers.
  37. A

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

In my case (up to 10kW solar), I can get more than 7.2kW of excess solar. And even without that much excess solar, it is still worthwhile having the maximum charge rate available for single phase power in case you need to charge quickly.
  38. A

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

As discussed above, you may not even need a wall charger, depending on your driving distances and frequency. The UMC that comes with the car may be sufficient, either with the supplied tails, or with third party tails that g=can go up to 32A. To go to 32A you'll need a dedicated 3 or 5 pin...
  39. A

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

If you have a Powerwall, have a look at the Autarkie Manager app (I mentioned it above). The app is just an interface to the data but they have servers that will monitor the Powerwall and any excess solar (solar not be used by the house, regardless of the SoC of the Powerwall) will be sent to...

Actually they added a nice feature and then broke it in a subsequent update and it is still "broken". You can set up Utility Rate Plan, enter all the rates, etc. and save it. You used to be able to then edit that quite easily. Now, if you go to edit it, you have to go through the whole...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I just got 2022.4.5.16 (upgraded from 2022.4.5.5). I received an app notification for this (and 2022.4.5.5). The release notes for 2022.4.5.16 are the same for 2022.4.5.5 and they haven't fixed the stupidly small fonts on the charging screen!

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Voice control is still crap with 2022.4.5.5! Driving today... I said "Set fan to 4". It initially displayed "Set fan to 4". I got excited. Then it changed it to "Set fan to full". Down the bottom it said "Set fan speed to 1" and set it to 1.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

    How good is autopilot ?

I wasn't talking about autosteer. I was talking about TACC. I never use Autosteer as it puts the car too far to the left. I thought I said that.

    How good is autopilot ?

Sorry, I heard that in ScoMo's voice. As others have said. It works great on freeways and nearly straight roads. It sucks for roundabouts. I wouldn't use it on winding roads. I don't like Autosteer as I fee it puts the car to close to the vehicles to the left.
