Gen 3 Wall Connector - Is Surge Protection Already Present, or Is It a Requirement At the Main Panel?

The "professional" that installed your Wall Connector did not do their job. If you only had an electric dryer and the car charging at the same time, that would be the maximum draw that you can pull from that panel, no air conditioning, no refrigerator, no stove.... You should get your Breaker...

Surge Protection - at the Wall Charger & the Tesla Itself?

That happens many times in a home with an undersized breaker panel, ie. Load Center. Did anyone do load calculations to see if your breaker panel was large enough to handle your charging?

Kicked out of the FSD Beta! (Long Post)

I have had FSD Beta since the first of November 2021, and I have yet to have any strikeouts. I am still puzzled how anyone can get booted from FSD Beta when it takes 5 Strikeouts!

Poll: Will hands free driving be a big win for Tesla?

I live on Ohio and have had FSD Beta since the first week of Novembr 2021... I used it to drive 95% or more of all my driving. It drives roundabouts better than the vast majority of adults that I know. My biggest issue is that it at times misses a turn a must reroute...

Poll: Will hands free driving be a big win for Tesla?

I truly believe that we would already have hands free if it was not for idiots showing off and doing stunts that they should not have been doimg... I have driven almost every car out there with self-driving and nothing begins to compare to what my FSD Beta can accomplish... My car executes...

How can I see how many miles I have driven on FSD vs total driving

I am also interested in this because of Elon's announcement to eliminate the steering wheel nag for those ith more than 10,000. Has anyone used a Tire of a different size on their Tesla Model Y

I am thinking of going with the 245/50-R19 it is 1/2 in. 4% narrower with a 1.9 in. 2.1% increase in circumference. I really would like a 245/55-R19 it is 1/2 in. 4% narrower with a 5 in. 5.7% increase in circumference, but that tire is not available in a 245/55-R19....

uGreen USB C to lightning melted and fused itself to the USB C center console port

When this happens it is absolutely an issue with the cable. Some of these devices are pulling 45 watts. At 45 watts a small defect in a cable will cause this issue. But it can happen with any device and almost any current draw.

uGreen USB C to lightning melted and fused itself to the USB C center console port

I would guess that you havea cable that has a bad conne connection. The high resistance...

Has anyone used a Tire of a different size on their Tesla Model Y

I am considering a 245/55R19 - It is 0.4" narrower, is 1.6" taller. The Circumference increases by 5" or 5.7%. The taller sidewalls might soften the ride and increase in circumference means that I would travel further per revolution and might help to overcome range loss due to the stickiness of...

My car used 255/45 R19 from the factory. I am thinking about the CrossClimate2s in 265/50 R19 110V XL BSW. The 5% increase in circumference show in theory help with the approx. 5% loss in range. Has anyone out there done something similar???

Precondition car plugged in vs not plugged in

You get X number of Chargers to a Lithium Ion Battery. Anything that puts an additional load on the battery means that it will requires more charge cycles which in turn shortens the battery life.
  32. MikeHolliday

Precondition car plugged in vs not plugged in

Driving the car in cold weather without preconditioning can effect the battery life. When plugged in while preconditioning the power to does not come from the Battery at all and only comes from the wall connector. Since the battery does not need to be topped up, it creates less wear on the battery.

It is three (3) Inattentive warnings within 10 miles and you are removed from FSD Beta. I believe that is is extremely sensitive. Precondition car plugged in vs not plugged in

  38. MikeHolliday

Tesla App reducing charging current by itself?

Absolutely, I believe that the car will reduce the Amperage if the voltage is low to prevent a current issue. Volts = Wattage divided by Amperage. If you have a Gen3 Wall Connector 240 volts = 11,500 watts/48 Amps or if the voltage drops to 230. 11,500 Watt/230 Volts = 50 Amps draw, But I...

Ok, yes, 6 AWG Romex is rated at 55 Amps and 6 AWG THHN in a conduit is Rated at 65 Amps. But I have seen a number of installations of individual using 6 AWG Romex on a 60 AMP breaker. Tesla App reducing charging current by itself?

I will highly disagree with your thoughts, in the US 5% is considered out of spec, please see NEC 210.19(A)(1) below... NEC 210.19(A)(1) Informational Note No. 4 limits the voltage drop at the furthest outlet of a load to 3% of the applied voltage. This allows 2% drop in the feeder...

Driving Your Tesla in the Snow

Instead of a second set I would suggest looking into the new Michelin CrossClimate2 Tires. They have a 3 Peak Rating (which is the full snow tire rating), carry a 60,000 Miles Tread Life Warranty and can be used year round without damaging the tire. They are a true all-weather, all-season tire.

Tesla App reducing charging current by itself?

Properly torqued with the initial installation with Copper Wire you should never need to re-torque, aluminum is a totally different matter and I would never put aluminum wire in my house.
