Olympits is one I’ve gone to for years. They specialize in very high end wheels and are usually the chosen shop for high end/supercar dealerships.

now two MYPs. They’re definitely the most hilarious. My SUVs are half a second faster than my 556HP supercharged howling V8 sedan was.
you’ll love it.
If you check the site, there’s also another Knoxville charger coming live this year.
Screenshot: you can see the existing Knoxville SUpercharger in red to the left.
There are 6 Tesla destination Chargers at the REÍ Less than a quarter mile down the road. I passed by the Chargers you’re speaking of and considered them until I saw the Chargers at REÍ. 10kW vs 7kW of the ChargePoints.

I had great experiences at the REÍ and the Public ChargePoint chargers on Teaster when I went 2 weeks ago. Plenty to do (and eat) if you use the REÍ charger.
Man you guys make it look easy.
Well worth it. I’m on a road trip right now and am so happy you applied this protection for our rock chip magnets.
cheers guys.
So basically, they created this to replace the “painters’s tape” approach that many of us did (and some still do.
wherever you’d put paunter’s tape, that’s where you can put this.
mom about to take a road trip soon and I’ll be putting it on:
-Lower portion of hood
-front bumper
-mirror caps
XPEL makes a temporary PPF for road trips. So does another company.
I also have ceramic on one Y and graphene ceramic on the other Y.
And for road trips, I also use this stuff, which I used to use on my motorcycles. I’d spray and leave on to make slick and then wipe off when I got to my...
I should have clarified, I simply use this method to wake the car up.
the reason it unlocks the port is because my phone is nearby, but tapping it once when it’s in deep sleep doesn’t do the trick.
thanks very much for your insight! That was my plan as well (<=50kW, stable firmware only) but even so it seems like a risk (especially when away from home).
Setec told me to hold onto it for a bit, seems like they’re looking To help me out.
UPDATE: for anyone in my boat: returning the package to China (they don’t allow returns to Brea, CA,USA where it was sent to me from) in time for my refund period:
$290 via UPS
$87 via USPS global
asked Setec to work something out with me. We’ll see how it goes.
I don’t disagree. I have been waiting for the Chademo adapter to come back in stock for a while now but it remains out of stock.
I contacted Setec and they state I have to pay for shipping back to China (not California where it shipped to me from) , so depending on the cost of that I may end up...
I appreciate your input, and I agree that they could definitely choose to state it isn’t covered. Although the consensus seems to be that this adapter mimics Tesla’s own Chademo adapter, Tesla can tell what you had to eat based on the sounds your farts make so I assume they could do so with...
Agreed! I’m hoping we are going to be okay. Even charging overnight (early AM hours) would be okay with us I think, as my brother and I have a lot of catching up to do :)
cheers!
Right! And I have a few chargers in mind (I mentioned the REÍ Tesla destination charger And the Teaster Ln charger), but those both are 6-10 kW. I’m thinking something like going out at night to charge. Luckily Pigeon Forge is coming Q3 so future trips will be much better. Thanks!
Haha no...
Yes that makes sense. I don’t think it’s fully critically dependent, but it would be a huge convenience to be able to use it. Would give us a lot more free time.
I’ll talk it over and see. Thanks for your insight!
Haha well you’ve certainly talked me INTO requesting a refund!
the issue I saw is that last time, we made it back to Knoxville after about 3 days with about 15 miles left, and we barely went anywhere. This time we’d actually like to go to different places while out in Pigeon forge, and given...
I finally received mine today.
however I haven’t even opened the box as I’m suddenly getting cold feet.
Im taking a trip to TN at the end of this month with both of my MYPand planned to use it (with the lowest charge setting- 50kW) at the Kodak Electrify America station between Knoxville and...
No issues in either one of our two Model Ys.
we did buy covers for the seats to ensure we don’t damage them.
for the install, one of us sits in the seat while the other pulls on the latch straps. We also found that “hopping” on the seat while pulling the straps will provide additional...
Thank you for the insight! Yes I downloaded the EA app last weekend and created an account so rhay
I already have ChargePoint and PlugShare from when I had my i3, so those were already on. Unfortunately I don’t have a way of knowing the brand since it’s in TN, but I’ll definitely try out the...
I agree, I wanted to buy the official chademo but it was sold out on the Tesla site. Regardless, in my area the CCS ones outnumber the chademos by quite a bit! And it seems that the EA stations have all CCS and only 1 or 2 chademos per site.
Oh yes good call, thanks for the clarification. I was walking and reading so I thought the question was about reliability and consistency vs speed.
Agreed, 50kW for 3/y seems like the best bet but I am more than good with that!
cheers!
Apparently it has improved quite a bit. There is a thread about it here!! Seems to be a bit stable. Or stable enough. When the official Tesla one comes out I’ll sell the Setec and buy that instead :)
Not fantastic first few pages, but the last few were promising enough for me to snag it...
Yes, I was checking this out! Thanks for bringing it up.
I went up from Florida in November 2020 with our first MYP and the stretch from the “Knoxville” SC to our cabin in Pigeon Forge and backs again was a bit much. I didn’t enjoy myself much since I was worrying a bit about being able to get...
Thank you! Yes I heard v150 is the way to go, and I plan to do the standard 50kW rate to keep things on the safe side.
luckily the EA station I plan on going to (Kodak, TN) is en route to my destination (Knoxville>Pigeon Forge) so if it doesn’t work we’ll just keep on driving. I’m taking both...
Former X M40i owner here as well. I don’t miss car play as much as I thought I would.
the exhaust note though, the burps and gargles and pops that the MPerformance Exhaust has?
Yeah I miss that.
Then I stomp on the go pedal of the MYP while making fart sounds with the turn signals, and I...
I agree with this sentiment. I wish Tesla would have released a CCS1 adapter by now (although I am sure by the discussion in the last few pages that they are, due to the Japan/Korea initiative).
I’ve purchased the Setec adapter as a last resort, and intend to use it that way (primarily to use...
Just ordered mine. Thanks to everyone here for their comments and feedback.
Mainly ordered because I’m taking a trip to Pigeon Forge/Sevierville TN in our 2 Model Ys at the end of may (the PF SC doesn’t open until Q42021), and last time we went we suffered some range anxiety.
Was waiting for...
