    Powerwall Software 1.45.0

I got 1.45.1, no issue with the reserved IP address changing. I had an issue with my burglar alarm losing its reserved IP address once. After a software update, the embedded network stack permanently lost the MAC address that was assigned during manufacturing. It's now using a default MAC...

    Firmware 1.20.0

That's funny--the installers who put my Powerwalls in were unable to do the commissioning process on their own, and they had me do it.

    Firmware 1.20.0

Wow, that sucks. I still have web access to mine, and I am probably one of the owners who is "abusing the interface" ... if by abuse they mean pulling data once a second and stuffing it into a time-series database. Having that data, by the way, made it easy to prove one of my inverters was...

Is there a electrical reason for two+ PowerWall 2s vs PV system size?

I have a 4-ton two-speed compressor (Carrier/Bryant) and it works fine with the SureStart, so I assume there must be other factors.

First PowerWall2 installed in Houston TX.

The Powerwall 2 has liquid thermal management, so at a minimum it has pumps and fans. I'm not sure if it has active cooling/heating or not. I put mine in the garage, and they're a lot quieter than my EV's are when they charge. The fans only kick in under load, and they're variable speed, but...

    VIN Assignment

If they try to tell me they left voicemail, that will be a fun conversation. I disabled my voicemail because it's freaking 2018 ... send a damn email or text, I don't want voicemail.

    VIN Assignment

It could be something as simple as a supplier backlog for the 18's ... maybe Tesla predicted the wrong product mix.

    Software versions for Powerwall 2?

I got Powerwall 1.15.0 today. There's nothing outwardly new about it in the app. I haven't investigated the commissioning wizard.

    Powerwall & homeowner's insurance

I haven't contacted my insurance company about it yet. I guess I'll get it all squared away after I get my Model 3, as I'll have to shop around anyway. $60 a year is quite a deal, though. I was expecting quite a lot more.

Can a North American 60Hz Powerwall 2 Work With a 50 Hz Utility Grid

You set the grid code during the commissioning process. I am not sure if it can be changed later, but it looks possible. The AC PW2 seems to be a worldwide SKU. With the correct installation and gateway, it will charge from solar while the grid is down. It apparently also keeps some untapped...

Long term regular use of home PowerWall 2 system with solar

I use self consumption, usually keeping 30-50% as backup depending on weather. But if I was given the option to keep the Powerwalls at 80% SOC, I might be inclined to leave them there just to avoid the efficiency losses and avoid cycling the batteries too much. As is, since we don't have that...

What is going on with the price of the Tesla Gen 2 Wall Connector?

They were ultimately shipped and sold by Tesla, so regardless of whatever funny business is going on, they should be warrantied. Save that packing slip.

"Switch to my home" setting in app on 1.11.2

I can’t speak for others, but the service disconnect that Tesla put on the side of my house is a comically large commercial unit.

Is there a electrical reason for two+ PowerWall 2s vs PV system size?

Tesla put a SureStart on my A/C at no cost to me. The thing works like magic. My unit was pulling well over 100A, I don't recall exactly, but now it's like 20A at start. The thing over-delivered. No more dimming lights and it's quieter, too.

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

FWIW, my retail electric provider (MP2 Energy) is working on incentive plans for EV charging as well as Powerwalls for later in 2018. They would not tell me exactly what the plans are, but since I have both, I signed up to get the details later. I would not mind selling energy to the grid from...

What is going on with the price of the Tesla Gen 2 Wall Connector?

That explains why my tracking number shows it's coming from California and not Canada... I guess that also means the warranty will be valid. Sad to hear I am supporting some kind of scam, though.

What is going on with the price of the Tesla Gen 2 Wall Connector?

I ordered one a few days ago and got a Fedex tracking number for it. I figure at that price I can live without a warranty.

Discrepancy between app and Powerwall API

Tesla doesn't like to use Wi-Fi because spotty connectivity becomes a support issue, so they prefer Ethernet or LTE. There's a good chance they just connected it using LTE. If there's a strong Wi-Fi signal from your house where the gateway is located, you can reconfigure it to use Wi-Fi. Or...

    Elon Help Me!

Someone at Tesla was telling me today there are some areas (I think Nevada was mentioned) where they can't get any Powerwalls approved by the utility, although you'd think that'd all be set in stone before they get installed. They will get approved eventually.

Discrepancy between app and Powerwall API

Yes, I wrote a small thing to poll the data and publish it to an MQTT broker, and another small thing that subscribes to the MQTT topics and stuffs the data into InfluxDB. From that, I put together a big Grafana dashboard. It's very much still a work in progress. You can play with an interactive...

Discrepancy between app and Powerwall API

Shygar, are you on 1.10.2? My reserve is currently 30% on 1.10.2. I've started keeping a time-series database with Powerwall data collected at 1-second intervals. According to my software instrumentation, my Powerwalls stopped providing energy at 1:09 AM today at 33.50%. I'll keep an eye on...

Discrepancy between app and Powerwall API

Others reported that their reserve percentage changed when they were upgraded to 1.10.2; This also happened to me. I had the reserve at 25% and it was knocked down to 21% if my memory serves correctly. I adjusted it back to 25% and it's remained there. I decided to write some software this...

Powerwall Version 1.10.2 not charging/discharging properly

My personal feeling is that any charging behavior is fine, if it helps prolong the life of the equipment. I haven't had the chance to observe any different behavior, since one of my inverters has been busted for over a month (Thanks, Tesla!) and it's been cloudy and overcast most days anyway.

Powerwall problems - No help from Tesla so far

If there is a communication issue, the app will just show whatever it has from whenever it last communicated, and it will show those readings indefinitely and pretend they are current.
