What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Thank you! I am not using TeslaFi; just their stats to compare. I use ScanMyTesla with OBD, that reads directly from the computer. Hence, no idea what the full pack was. I also started TeslaMate recently (I am hosting it myself) and it estimated the full pack to be 95kWh; hence, my question...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Thank you - very informative! The car was set to charge to 60%, starting at 10pm every day, since the beginning. Interestingly, looking at TeslaFi graphs, I should be having only about 5% degradation. Hence, my concern. Do you think I should go for less frequent charging and deeper cycles? E.g...

    Speed sign recognition

Got 2023.44.30 and immediately after that 2023.44.30.4. First time driving on a highway after that and big surprise - the FSD does not distinguish between car and truck speed limits anymore. It was fun for 30 min to go 65mph-55mph-65mph… but then it became boring. How did that pass QA?! It...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

2020 MSLR+ here, with 50k miles. The car has a handful or superchargers (2MWh total). Charging at home every day to 60% (14MWh total). For road trips to 90%. Never above 90%, never below 10%. The cycles are mostly 50%-60%. The garage is about 75’F, consistently. I am using “scan my Tesla”...

    Door handle replacement error

I had the door handle issue (not presenting; motor spinning) and Tesla mobile replaced it under warranty. It was noisy and they replaced it again. The new one was quiet but started throwing GTW_w140-hndfdVersionMismatch errors. A firmware reinstall fixed it for a few days and then it showed up...

2020 MSLR - noisy door handle after replacement

I had one of the door handles brake - it stopped presenting itself. The mobile tech came and fixed it in 30 min. Mechanically, it works - presenting and retracting well, flush with the door, it does not rub on anything (the SC checked for that). However, it is significantly noisier than the...

    Pedal Monitor Warning

Maybe I am really old school but I have been trained not to ignore permanent errors. Either the system or software needs a fix. When you actually see a problem it may be too late. Would you ignore disk I/O errors until the disk go completely offline?!

    Pedal Monitor Warning

2020 MSLR here. I had PM_w041_dasMIA consistently for the past year+. It stays in the “Active Alerts” section. “Nothing to worry about” is not a good answer because the first thing any subsequent buyer would look at it the “Active Alerts” screen. If it is really nothing then it should not be...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

    Did you put stalks?
  19. B

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

I would argue that yoke, in general, is not a problem; Tesla’s implementation is the problem. There are many track cars where the yoke is actually beneficial (have not seen a single street car, though). However, the real issue is the lack of stalks and the “fix” does not solve that problem...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Note the delay in the wheels turning. It is pretty bad. There are many areas where we actually need improvements; reinventing the wheel is not one of them.

Rear fog lights on US Model S (2016-2020)

Hi! I have 2020 MS, US version. Is there an elegant way to install rear fog lights like the EU version? I mean, no pulling wires from the front fog lights, no additional switches, etc. The idea is to activate them through the interface, similar to the front ones. If US and EU versions use the...

Model S retrofit fog light wiring help.

@Chito307 , I assume you are asking about the rear fog lights - essentially, retrofitting the US model to have rear fog lights like the EU model. If so - have you figured it out? I think that worst case scenario is to run a wire from the front fog lights but was hoping that they use the same...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Offering a wheel solves only half of the problem. The other half is related to the controls - they will still be all over the place. A real solution would be: - Short steering ratio of the current yoke; or - Regular wheel with stalks BTW: Lexus is also trying to “reinvent the wheel”. However, I...

Why I am losing faith in Tesla’s Autopilot (Autosteer)

Phantom braking could be because of the sensors or because of the data interpretation (or some combination of the two). However, “fewer sensors - better picture” is laughable argument.

Tesla is an AWFUL software company

No, materially changing the product after you buy it is called “bait and switch”, not “market economy”. Apparently, I am not the only one who believes the car is worse than when I bought it. Here is what the disabling of the radar and religious Tesla Vision leads to...

Tesla is an AWFUL software company

“Nobody forced you to buy a Tesla” is not a valid argument. I wish the car now were the car I bought, without the subsequent forced downgrades.

Definitely not! But I do not want it on a capacitive button that moves all over the place either :)

Has anyone taken delivery of a new Model S and opted for the steering wheel?

Ok, a friend just got 2023 MS with steering wheel and I tried it over the weekend. Good news: better than the yoke. Three way turn, city driving, etc - all feels much more natural, like a wheel :) No hands crossing, you can put hands everywhere. Bad news: major controls are still on the wheel...

Has anyone taken delivery of a new Model S and opted for the steering wheel?

He also mentioned some design flaws at the end. For me, the non-linear steering could be a problem. My old Audi had adaptive force steering (harder to turn at high speeds) but still linear. Non-linear could be harder to get used to.

Has anyone taken delivery of a new Model S and opted for the steering wheel?

If the yoke has about 150-180’ move then I would agree that stalks are not necessary. The reason I think stalks are necessary because the position of the buttons (in the current yoke incarnation) moves relative to your body. Which means that you either have to mentally track them or you have...

2020 Model S Front Suspension Creaking

Had the same issue and it turned out that the chassis needed lubrication. A few hours at the SC six months ago and all still good. I have the OEM wheels. They have to prove that whatever issue you have is caused by the mid you did. Nevertheless, to avoid lengthy arguments it is better to keep it...

Has anyone taken delivery of a new Model S and opted for the steering wheel?

If we really have to “reinvent the wheel”, imagine a yoke that turns to around 150’ each way, combined with stalks for turn signals and forward/reverse, and center horn. Wouldn’t that be a better solution than the current yoke?

The latest Cybertruck photos reveal the new concept - combination between wheel and yoke, aka “woke”. Tesla continue to reinvent the wheel.

Just a thought: Is there a correlation between lack of satisfaction with Tesla’s approach to USS and radar, and the previous brand the person owned?
  46. B

Do you regret updating to use Tesla Vision and disabling your radar? Would you go back if you can?

I would 100% go back! Where do I sign? I do not see much difference in PB. Same frequency, different places, so no improvement there. On the other hand, wipers and high beams never worked. I was upgrading to the latest firmware every time it came up with hope that they would fix them. At the...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance
