Recommended cleaning products (Australia based) for Model Y

This is the one thing that you can do to help keep your car cleaner for longer, and make it easier to wash. It's a must for any new car, $1000 well spent with a GTechniq detailer. My preferred car wash products are from NV, however it often comes down to personal preference.

My car performs in exactly the same way. I've noticed that I'm now driving around the shortcomings. You can't turn it off with Tesla, their approach is that they know better than the driver.

    Toyota Bz4X

For Toyota it's a classic case of your strength becoming your weakness. Their legendary reliability (disclaimer- I'm a fan boi) comes partly from their conservative approach to sticking with tried and tested technology, re-using existing modules that work (e.g. commonality in suspension parts)...

Minor carpark dings caught on sentry

My mum recently returned to her car to find a note under the windscreen from a witness who saw the other car reverse into it causing minor damage. Building CCTV captured the incident and the rego, and she filed a police report and then a claim with AAMI. AAMI initially wanted her to pay an...

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

I agree that there was phantom braking with the radar and vision, but it was a superior system simply based on the fact that 1) it would keep working in heavy rain / low visibility conditions, 2) it wouldn't slam on the brakes if a pedestrian stood close to the kerb, and 3) you could use it with...

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

And here you are arguing with plenty of owners who had a pre 2022 with USS enabled where TACC worked relatively well, and here we are 2 years later and the development of Tesla Vision still hasn't restored TACC to the same level of capability as before. Owners don't forget that, and get reminded...

Replacing OEM 19' Hankooks on MY

I'm curious as to whether anybody has replaced the original Hankook 19" tyres on their Model Y RWD in Australia, and if so what did you go with? When new, I thought that the Hankooks suited the car really well and had no complaints. It's now done 22,000kms, and with all the rain we've in Sydney...

    Novated Leases

My NL provider was given my order details, they then contacted Tesla to reissue the invoice with the NL's correct details so that they could arrange payment of the car prior to pick up. Once you commit to going with you NL provider, you'll likely need to sort this with them.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I drive this once a week, and as I get onto the Iron Cove bridge heading east I hit "End Trip" on the Nav to avoid TACC phantom braking. Putting aside the issue of the map update, I'm surprised that given the limitation GPS accuracy that it was deemed good enough to allow TACC to use it to...

Is there something wrong with MYLR?

Toyotas allow you to disable the adaptive cruise control and switching to plan cruise control by holding down the cruise control button. Their engineers had the foresight to anticipate situations (sensor not working / blocked) where their customers might want to go old school.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I'd be surprised if Tesla let the tech titans into the tent, why cede the UI particularly when the rumours of the Apple car persist? The car manufacturers only wish that they could have the kind of brand loyalty that people have to their phones.

Is there something wrong with MYLR?

What you're describing won't come as a surprise to any long term owner, if you can get a refund on the Advanced Autopilot do it. Model Y windscreen and roof glass replacement, hail damage repair

I had my MY glass roof repaired last year by Tesla, AUD$2400 or thereabouts. I drove it for a while before noticing the crack in the glass, Tesla Chatswood needed it for the day to do the job. Based on the tools that they left in the car after I picked it up it's a specialised job, I wouldn't...

Exactly 12 months ago Tesla decided to give all owners who didn't have it, a month free of EAP whether you wanted it or not. My experience was mainly limited to using it on a Sydney - Melbourne return trip using the Hume Hwy, and I preferred the car without it using just the bog standard...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one experiencing issues with TACC. I've found that it struggles to hold the set speed, and is very nervous with either bends or slight gradients. It's a shame because the one thing TACC used to do really well is hold the set speed. I drove the Rozelle...

Strange Sounds from Model Y. Is it normal?

After 12,000kms in my MY, my remote assessment based on what you have described is: The wind noise is possibly normal and "noticeable if you pay attention to it" due to the quietness of an EV. The rattling isn't normal, and if it was me I'd log a service ticket in the app. The noise when the...

Describe your initial impressions upon new delivery of 2023 Model Y

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I can remotely unlock the car, but can't remotely turn on the climate control. The phantom battery drain that I've had with the MY since delivery (and acknowledged by Tesla Service but with a sorry we can't fix it) has been fixed, so I guess I've got that going for me.

Sydney to Canberra in a Model Y RWD

I haven't done anything special to get those numbers, and as my wife will gladly tell you, I don't drive for efficiency. A lot of trip back was in the overtaking lane. The only thing I would recommend checking is that the tyres are at 42psi before leaving. When you put in your destination to...
