Stop discussing things that might result in mild criticism of Tesla. Everything is perfect.

    Tesla Alternative?

Think what you like. The suspension on the MIC Model Y is utter dogshit. Tesla conceded as much when they had to revise it for UK market within months of launch as even fanboi reviewers described it as appalling. But hey, I guess being jostled around like being in a moshpit is a feature not a...

    Tesla Alternative?

There is a stretch of road I have to try to get along in my early MIC Model Y. I know exactly what you mean. Anything less than smooth new asphalt sees me having to reduce progress to a relative crawl. I guess that's what happens when you churn out cars without testing them in different...

    2023.12...

An NHTSA requirement in the US, as Tesla and some other manufacturers' automatic operation of windows and sunroofs exceeded a safety mandate. They had to "recall" cars to make sure they now met the safe operational threshold; in Tesla's case, they have switched it off while they work out how not...

    2023.12...

I had to take my car to Tesla in Cardiff on Monday morning. It was absolutely hammering down - which I suppose justifies the car's tech deciding you either get no wipers or ramming speed wiping, the car chose the latter. What was more surprising was to discover that in torrential rain, where...

Drop in interest in EV's and further Tesla price cuts

The marketing to date has been Elon. And now he is as toxic as polonium, they need to rewrite history again, but this time leaving him out of the story. It works for North Korea.

Drop in interest in EV's and further Tesla price cuts

I think the point Auto Trader was trying to make was that searches for EV have fallen by a third. We can speculate why - high purchase price both new and second hand (in relative terms as well as absolute compared to ICE), high recent cost of electricity both retail and commercial pushing up...

    [UK] Price cuts

Further Model Y price cuts in the US. And also reductions in Model 3 prices there too. Edit to add: Model Y has reduced by over 24% in the last 100 days.

    FSD Beta in the UK?

It might have external dimensions bigger than a Golf, but it is really tight inside. I've never understood small crossover thingies, unless it is for the slightly raised seat height.

    FSD Beta in the UK?

T The problem here is that Ford are a bit confused over future strategy. They have indicated they wish to withdraw from the "small car" market. But they have announced a BEV version of the Puma, which is small? Anyway, they have announced 2 new SUV BEVs for Europe, their Transit range (from...

    MYLR tyre pressure

If just me, 39 is optimal for ride without it setting off the low pressure warning symbol. It then increases to about 42 on a > 30 mile run. If with family or other load, then I set to 40. Again, reaches about 42-43 per the screen - not sure what the actual calibrated pressure is. It helped...

    FSD Beta in the UK?

Interesting that Ford have invested in whatever testing, is required, conversion to RHD, etc for a car that is not exactly a massive seller. And that they see no profit in pursuing level 4 or 5 ADAS. Level "2+" like this or level 3 seems to be the goal. Tesla might be playing catchup with the...

    [UK] Price cuts

That 4% of cars produced not sold is additive to the cars produced but not sold the quarter previously though. That's why days of stock held has now increased. They are continuing to ramp production faster than orders are being received. The only way to address that imbalance is to reduce the...

    [UK] Price cuts

They have gone from 4 days of sales in stock, to 16 days, and rising. Further price cuts almost inevitable to reduce stock holding costs, and also because Tesla don't have dealers they don't really have secure storage.

Firstly, congrats on not hanging on to a car that didn't suit your needs, just because... Secondly, that Ocean looks like a major step forward in EV design and usability. 440 mile range, 0-60 plenty quick enough, but with lots of little improvements over both ICE tech and Tesla tech. Finally...

Has anyone sued Tesla for FSD costs?

@GlynG You give me too much credit Glyn. I wanted the comment to be offensive. I am fed up of US dwelling Musk cheerleaders telling we thick Brits we are wrong every time we have the temerity to point out how much stronger UK consumer and contract law protections are. And that they claim that...

Todays problem: Steering Assist Reduced, Park Assist Not Available, ABS, Traction Control and Air Bag Warnings (and probably others)

Really sorry to hear the ongoing catalogue of issues - and on a safety-critical area of the the car too. If I were in your shoes, I would be thinking whether now might be the time to invest in a solicitor's letter to the company setting out a timescale for resolution, failing which court action...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

I do about 1,000 miles per month, MY LR, occasionally use the car's performance - so probably an average user. Moving to Ovo from Shell, I saw about £30 of savings in the first month, possibly a bit more to come a I started on 9th Feb. With no impact on the cost of using the tumble drier etc as...

I could envisage Elon deciding that they will no longer offer vanilla TACC / lane assist or EAP in the US, and force everyone to pay the 15 grand to use FSD. Sort of like an abandoned operating system - you can still use it if you have it, but you need to pay to upgrade (from Win3.1 to Win 95).

Has anyone sued Tesla for FSD costs?

Take this scenario for Tesla. Not sure how likely it is. Plaintiff A orders a car, thinking it had functional USS, and in turn summon, remote parking etc. Finding out it is not functional, sues and wins whatever the court decides is fair recompense - maybe even the full value paid for the car...

Has anyone sued Tesla for FSD costs?

Courts in general are bound only by the decisions of courts of a higher level. But the judicial system as a whole places a significant weighting on certainty, and county courts very frequently take shortcuts if a case has a high degree of similarity to already decided cases. Especially if that...

    Enhanced autopilot UK

I get the same effect now. You learn to cope with it, and it doesn't seem to be any danger to vehicles behind especially as it can be easily overridden if you are quick enough But 12 months ago - don't recall the software variant - it was true, hard brakes on / emergency stop type braking...

Not specifically Wales (England and Wales have the same legal system, but not the same as Scotland) - but in a small claim (usually with damages of £10,000 or less) neither party is able to recover legal fees beyond the court costs of about £300 if you are the plaintiff, or travel expenses if...

As far as I can tell, there is no minimum height requirement in the Regs to stop you going as low as you desire. Just be aware that you might encounter issues with speed humps and the like if it goes too low.

Has anyone sued Tesla for FSD costs?

Wishing you all the best with the case. Quite stressful, and can become a bit all consuming if you let it. But certainly worth it, if for no other reason than Tesla and Musk treat non-US jurisdictions as though they were in the good ol' State of Texas and need taking down a peg or three.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I went to Disneyworld about 20 years ago. The Epcot "Road Test" pavilion was at the time sponsored by GM, who had an electric vehicle on display. The classic skateboard design - battery pack chassis, with 4 wheels and steering. The display had a number of mocked up body styles exactly as you...

The key leadership might have been distracted. Last Autumn, didn't Mr Musk take a few dozen of his "top Tesla engineers" off to Twitter - which promptly broke - and has likely been completely distracted since then with his descent into mania? Irrespective - Tesla's reputation for solving some...

Don't be silly. How do you think the vast majority of personal injury cases, commercial litigation, tort etc is quantified? The loss of amenity, value, worth - call it what you will. NOT the cost, which is often unquantifiable or even zero in many cases.
  49. C

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

And - with no prospect of "specific performance" of the contract being realistic - it could be that Tesla is forced to repurchase the vehicle at its original cost, less a relatively modest deduction for the value of the use derived whilst under your ownership.
