Model Y Performance on 19" Gemini - rear lower than front

I picked up my ‘22 MYP June ’22. Put 5k miles on the 21” Uberturbine/Pirelli then switched to 19” Gemini/Conti (from Craigslist, was told they had 5k miles on them). I immediately noticed how much smoother the ride was, especially on the small bumps and ruts common on the back roads. After 10 k...

Alignment required after changing the MYP 21" uberturbine wheel to 19" Gemini?

I put 10,000 miles on a set of geminis that I bought used with (allegedly) 5,000 miles on them. Took them off and put the Ubers back on for summer driving. Checked the tread on the Contis on the Geminis, and all were consistent at 6/32 with no signs of abnormal wear. No alignment adjustments...

Windshield washer severed hose - how did this happen?

This is the hose to the driver's wiper blade. Anyone seen this happen? It almost looks like it was attacked by micro-mice.

    Windshield Wipers

Did you have autopilot engaged? All it takes is one bug splatter near the front camera, and the wipers will attempt to clear it with the wipers, thinking that it could be a raindrop. I’ve been cleaning the windshield more frequently, making sure the camera area is spotless. That seems to reduce...

Forgot To Put My Wheel Covers On For A Six Hour Trip

It’s all about the wind drag. Remember, the top of the tire is moving at 2x the speed of the car, and drag goes up 4x. A small area with high drag can make a measurable difference on a relatively clean aerodynamic car. That offsets the energy needed to accelerate the extra weight. Of course, we...

    Tidal UI - Shuffle

“Normal” Tidal streaming quality (premium connectivity) beats anything streamed over Bluetooth. If you are connected to WiFi, Tidal plays (most songs) in lossless FLAC which is noticeably better. It also stores the HiFi song for subsequent plays. I’ve connected my MYP to my iPhone hotspot to...

Xpel Stealth Wrap - Any regrets?

That’s more than 2x my insurance deductible, so I guess I’ll live with the chips. I would be concerned that a film might affect the front cameras. Anyone done this and verified no issues with FSD or TACC?

Xpel Stealth Wrap - Any regrets?

Finally washed the car last week (which brought back another week of rain!) I did a careful inspection 🧐 as I was drying, and didn’t find a single chip, and only a tiny surface chip on the frunk hood, which I haven’t hit with the hair dryer yet. Compare that to the windshield, which now has 7...

Power sharing with TWC Gen 3 and Tesla J1772?

That would work. My personal preference is to not use an adapter as a full-time solution. The adapters that I have seen are much longer than the ones for plugging a J1772 L2 plug into a Tesla. I don’t like the leverage it would add to the J1772 connector on the car. The 1772 connectors are...

Thanks for the tip on the 3SR. Maybe by the time she’s ready to drive, a 3SR might drop into the feasible price range.

Power sharing with TWC Gen 3 and Tesla J1772?

Good advice, but I shudder at the thought of a teen driver in a TM3, even in chill mode. Also, the used EV tax credit is only for vehicles up to $25k, so the price of a TM3 is almost double the net price of a circa 2018 Leaf. It would be way cool to be a 2-T family, but even the Leaf will be a...

Power sharing with TWC Gen 3 and Tesla J1772?

Another Tesla is way beyond my budget (still making $999/mo payments on my MYP). Emergency braking, lane deviation warning, TACC, are mandatory. The Leaf is the only EV around $20k that has that. If I'm wrong on that, someone please clue me in! Besides, I was happy with the 2014 Leaf I had...

Power sharing with TWC Gen 3 and Tesla J1772?

Thanks, @Cosmacelf and @240vPlug ! My teen soon-to-be driver will likely be cashing in on a promise I made years ago: that if she could keep straight A's in high school, I would buy a car for her (at the time, something that seemed highly improbable). I'm considering something like a 2018 Leaf...

Power sharing with TWC Gen 3 and Tesla J1772?

The product descriptions for the TWC Gen 3 and the Tesla J1772 Wall Connector both say they are capable of power sharing with other Wall Connectors. But, can they power share with one of each? I know power sharing doesn't work between Gen 2 and Gen 3, but I haven't seen anything pro or con for...

    Passenger Airbag OFF resolved

My MYP is about 9 months old. My wife is now about 110 lbs. Due to her Alzheimer's disease I have a waterproof seat cover (thin neoprene) and an absorbent "puppy pad" on the passenger seat. When the car was new, my wife was about 120 lbs. and the airbag would reliably activate. I started to...

    Model Y Subwoofer Bass Mod

Maybe I found a clue why the newer models don’t have the vent on the panel. I put a 3-axis accelerometer on the panel, starting on the underside where @teaston cut the hole. With a 30 Hz sine wave playing through the sub, that part of the panel has little z-axis (up and down) movement. It...

    Full PPF Wrap vs Clearbra

I finally washed the car last weekend (dry and warm enough) and did an inspection for dings, scratches, etc., while drying. Mileage difference between MY and MYP

I received my MYP last June. Ran on the 21” Ubers w/Pirelli Until October. Put on Geminis and Aero covers w/Contis with about 5k miles (or so I was told by the guy I bought them from). The first 7,500 miles with Ubers averaged 298 w/mile. The next 200 miles, with Geminis, Aero covers, same...

Does anyone regret installing Light Harmonic speakers?

I hear you. I'll probably end up with a new sub enclosure and amp, but I figured I'd see what benefit I can squeeze out for a few $$$, at least until I can afford a real sub upgrade.

    Snow chains for MYP

I went with the textile snow socks (that meet CVC 605). I got them just to be prepared in case I get caught needing them. I expect that they might not last more than one use, but if I plan right, that's one more time than I'll need them. After seeing the pictures of wheels trashed from chains...

Does anyone regret installing Light Harmonic speakers?

Getting solar along with my EV - is 4000kwh year enough for 12k miles?

I second @jjrandorin that you should get as much as will fit on your roof (that has good exposure), before NEM 3 takes effect on a few months. I’ve had a 10kW system for just over a year, and I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on 3-6 more panels that I can get grandfathered under NEM 2.0. If...

Compatibility Question: Temai Cup Holder + AO Center Console Wrap

I have the AO wood console cover, which likely uses the same cutting pattern as the vinyl covers. I’m using a different cup holder. The one you show appears to have a lip that would sit on top of the cover. Shouldn’t be any problem, because the cover material is thin, and is cut to fit flush...

I had something similar happen last summer, although for me it was off by an hour and several minutes. Just curious if anyone has personalized license plates?

Since I’ve had solar on the roof since 2000, I’ve had the same personalization on my 2007 ZENN NEV (Google it), 2014 Leaf, and 2022 MYP; SOLR RUN. It’s been a couple of years since someone looked at the plate, then the car, then asked where the panels are.

I’ve been on 2022.36.20 (FSD) for about a week, and the cameras have been solid , although I did have a couple instances of AP disengaging, but no message about cameras. Just curious if anyone has personalized license plates?

In 2010 I bought my first EV, a used 2007 ZENN (Google it). The first owner had personalized plates, which she transferred to me, since we both had PV on our roofs to charge the car. When I bought my Leaf in 2017, I moved the plates to the Leaf. I currently have the 15-year-old plates (standard...

Blind Spot how to move position after latest update?

Just push on the turn stalk opposite of the direction you’re turning to turn off the signal. You don’t really need your blinker on while you’re stopped on the turn lane. I think most people know where you want to go. After you answer/hang up, you can turn the signal back on if you wish.

Clock 12 minutes behind after 2022.20.6 update

A day or two after the 2022.20.6 update, I noticed that the time displayed is 12 minutes and several seconds behind my iPhone. I tried resetting the screen, but it’s still behind. Model y long rang verses performance model y

FWIW, I switched my order from MYLR to MYP so I could get it delivered for this summer. My test drive before ordering was in A MYLR, and it was a firm, but acceptable, ride.
