Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Check this table out. It show’s that the newer M3P has a different, more powerful rear motor that it shares with the MYP. Max power is now 393kw compared with original 377kw Last thing to consider - is there a difference in perfomance between a Shanghai built M3P and a US built version? Mine was...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

For those that keep mentioning that a M3P accelerates slowly above 60mph - have any of you actually driven one of the latest M3Ps? Recent cars (including mine built last year in Shanghai) now have the same more powerful rear motor as the MYP. This means that my car accelerates strongly well past...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Hi, What everybody is forgetting when they are comparing the 0-60 time of a Tesla vs a BMW M3 or Mercedes C63S is that for both these ICE cars to achieve their great figures - you need to use their launch control. You are waiting at the lights in your Tesla - they can stay red for any length of...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Hi, What has not really been mentioned is the fact that the latest pre-Highland Model 3 Performance (like our 2023 Shanghai built one) is supposed to have the same motors as the Model Y Perfomance - which have about 20hp more than those fitted on the launch year & pre-facelift cars. I have...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Elon stating no “Model 3 Plaid” could easily simply mean it will be called “Model 3 Spaceballs“ or something else - but not use the word Plaid! Lets all speculate what is in Elon’s mind to give the performance version of the refreshed Model 3 a quirky/interesting name! The fastest bird in the...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Hi I am surprised that Tesla are not considering using the strip of LED lighting around the dash and tops of the doors as a blind spot indicator. It should be easy to make this flash or change colour & flash if there is a vehicle in your blind spot! Cheers Steve

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I reckon it will use two motors - but they will be more powerful and it will be called a Plaid. Suspension will be more sport focused and better brakes - for less fade (after spirited driving) I would like to see the much talked about cold rocket thrusters from the new Roadster make their way...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Hi, I think Tesla is saving some big news for the revamped Model 3 Performance. Both the standard range and long range are now showing on our country’s Tesla website - but the performance is absent. Maybe we will see a Model 3 Plaid?? Cheers Steve

2021 Model 3 B-Pilar trim has come loose exposing wiring bundle

This happened to our 2023 M3P on the drivers side when it was just a few weeks old. The mobile tech fixed it in about 30 seconds! Under warranty He slid out the original white mushroom clips and replaced them with stronger blue ones - promising that this was a permanent fix! 20,000km later - so...

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

Hi, Had a Tesla engineer at our house a few months back to do a small warranty job - he advised to stick with OE filter and he told me many of the 3rd party ones are causing problems. Tesla will supply and fit one at our house for a reasonable price - so that is what I will be doing when mine...

    Tesla Tech vs. Competition

Hi, Being an owner of a 2023 Model 3 Performance and a 2023 fully loaded BMW iX - i can compare the tech in both cars as follows:- The UI on the Tesla is less confusing than the ID8 on the BMW. The BMW is equipped with far more sensors than the Tesla - which gives me much more confidence when...

Speed limit on display changed in Abu Dhabi?

Hi, I just drove from Yas into the centre of Abu Dhabi & back again on Saadiyat highway. I could have sworn that previously the car showed that this was a 140 km/h speed limit on the display. Today is is only showing as 120 or 100 km/h and all the other limits in town seem wrong (often 20km/h...

Hi, I tried to enhance the plates on the Jeep - without any luck. The base resolution of these images is not good enough to reveal the plates when you zoom into them. Cheers Steve

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

We also discounted the iX3 and instead bought the iX. The iX has the more modern ID8 with far less buttons - so more like our Tesla Model 3 in that respect.

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

As a follow up to my first post in this thread - we tested some more cars! Mercedes EQC Nice interior but so sluggish & very boring from the outside! Mercedes EQB Like a mini G Wagon - but in our market it does not come with Adaptive Cruise Control - so immediately ruled out. Volvo XC40...

    SPEED TABLE EMPTY FAULT

Sounds like the ABS wheel sensor is faulty (if Tesla even fit these!!!) ABS wheel sensors can be used for three different functions - detect wheel rotation during braking, vehicle speed measurement and when each sensor is compared with the other three - to detect a difference in tyre pressures.

Scroll Wheel Reboot After Installation Of Software

Our Model 3 always looses Bluetooth connection with my iPhone immediately after a software update. This has always been cured by a two finger scroll wheel reboot!

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

Agreed - and that is why they just get away with substandard build quality, no instrument binnacle, no head up display and no USS (and it’s related functions) on their most popular models!

M3P Auto wipers on when in Autopilot normal? [yes]

Hi, When you engage Autopilot - the auto wipers & auto high beam headlamps are switched on by default. You can switch off the auto high beams - using the stalk but you cannot disengage the auto wipers. That is why you could only switch wipers off totally when you were not in Autopilot! Cheers Steve

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Hi, Something that has not been mentioned previously by people who purchased cars in the UK are the Distance Selling Regulations! Do these cover cars purchased online, I wonder (as DSR give consumers added protection for products purchased online & therefore unseen in person)? Cheers Steve

Tesla possibly use more weasely words than a low cost airline!

Your Prediction for Restoration of USS Features

Sorry - but you are absolutely wrong! Many people ordered cars with Extended Auto Pilot - this gave them the ability to summon their car from a tight parking space, and to auto park their car into a parking space. This was not a cheap option - and without USS sensors it does not work! We are not...

Your Prediction for Restoration of USS Features

With so much inventory & recent price cuts - I don’t really think that Tesla can actually sell every car they make, at the moment! We are shopping for a replacement to my wife’s BMW X3M40i and test drove a Model Y Performance at the weekend. I really enjoyed filling in the post test drive...

Your Prediction for Restoration of USS Features

Hi, In my opinion - Tesla will need to do a retrofit campaign on any 2023 vehicles that were delivered without USS. They clearly removed USS before they had software ready and with the current camera configuration I don’t believe they will be able to adequately replicate the USS function to an...

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

Hi, Yes - we looked at this (but did not test drive it) - but in this country they are considerably more expensive than the IX3 - as are the IX40 and the Mercedes EQC. We don’t get the Hyundai, Kia, Genesis EVs here yet. Cheers Steve

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

We already have a Tesla Model 3 Performance that is my daily driver - this is a 2023 model year (that has USS fitted). The wife has a 4 1/2 year old BMW X3M40i that we want to replace and it makes sense to look at replacing it with an SUV EV - as she prefers a higher riding vehicle than a sedan...

    Has the M3P ruined me?

It’s clearly time for caravan & trailer makers to include an EV compatible battery pack built into their products - that will enable the towing vehicle to be charged when the driver gets to their destination. This could also power the caravan/trailer and also itself be charged at roadside...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Hi, Not all updates apply to all countries! Zoom, Apple Music, sentry camera view etc. were rolled out a while back - but were not available in all regions (including where I live) - but it appears this update means they will now be available here - so good for me! Back to topic - a total...

Huge price reductions in UAE now - wonder if existing orders will get the price reduction reflected in their orders?

    Has the M3P ruined me?

Totally agree with the above! Only a small handful of cars are quicker than a M3P in real world driving. My M3P replaced a 2017 tuned Audi TTS that was measured 0-60 at 3.8 seconds. It feels very pedestrian compared to our M3P. Problem will come in a few years time - I am always upgrading my...

    Autopilot seems useless

Apparently part of Tesla warranty conditions are that you must keep the car updated with software updates. Therefore if you avoid updates and request Tesla service - then they may refuse to cover costs for any faults, if you have not kept up to date with software downloads. They would almost...

Interior view of Tesla Model 3 tires

We have them on our BMW X3M40i and have used them on other BMWs since 2008. They have improved immensely since then and fortunately where we live the roads are well maintained & smooth! We happily use runflats here and will do so on the Tesla - to avoid the hassle of being stuck for 4 hours with...

Interior view of Tesla Model 3 tires

Hi We recently had a puncture on our relatively new M3P. Took nearly 4 hours from stopping at side of road to the fitting of a new & very expensive replacement to our irreparable Pirelli 20” special Tesla approved tyre! The price was ridiculous - $400 for 1 tyre! When these wear out - I will...

    Tesla Radar Speculation

Interestingly - I always approach my parked car from the direction I intend to set off from. Rear if I am about to reverse and front if I will simply drive forward - been doing that for years - whatever safety systems and driver aids are fitted to my cars. I regard USS as an aid to parking in...
