    engine buzz?

I've had my S85 for a little over a year, and about have about 13,500 miles on it. Recently my engine has started making a buzzing sound, which sounds very similar to a cicada bug. It happens regularly, and is most noticeable at low speeds during light acceleration....like in a parking lot or...

    Charging in Hartsville SC?

Just got off the phone with the motel, and they have multiple 120v outlets for use, and they have overnight camper spots with 30amp hookups. I feel like I've looked into the 30amp hookup before,,,and it wasn't a great option,,but nevertheless, a 120v will do. So I should be good to go....and my...

    Charging in Hartsville SC?

Thx evp...that is only about 2 miles from my hotel, which is great. Did you actually charge there?

    Charging in Hartsville SC?

Thanks all. I will definitely call ahead to the motel and see if they have an outlet available.

    Charging in Hartsville SC?

Thanks Robert, Yes, it's not far enough from the SC where I'd absolutely have to charge....which gives me some peace of mind. I have called that phone number a few times, and no answer. Oh well. There have been a few check-ins at the charger, and I've seen pics of a motorcycle, and some other...

    Charging in Hartsville SC?

So I'm meeting some in-laws here for an annual get-together....and I'd like to drive my Model S. I'll head down 95, fill up at Lumberton....then about 80 miles to Hartsville. Luckily there 'seems to be' a public EV charger about 2 miles from my hotel, in Centennial Park. Anyone ever use this...

Richmond VA detailing , opti coat

Oll, how did the wrap turn out? I have a guy doing prep today then modesta coating tomorrow. I was originally going to do the gtechniq crystal serum, but got a price break courtesy of tesla! My guy noticed tons of swirls all over from delivery detailing polisher....tesla agreed to pay for...

    anyone ever extended their UMC?

Yep, I ended up buying that same thing. Also got 2 adapters off evseadapters.com...for the 14-30 and 10-30. That cord is super heavy, but this seems to be a decent 'general' solution. Just need to dial down the amps when using the adapters.
  9. A

    anyone ever extended their UMC?

This was my first inclination a few months back....but whenever I think I've got a decent extension cord solution, I find out that I've got to cut the cord open and do some minor electrical surgery. I'm looking to avoid this. The basic stuff seems pretty easy, but I'm also well aware that I...
  10. A

    anyone ever extended their UMC?

That cord seems to work fine, if you need an extension for 50 amp charging....but I'm looking for a flexible solution that fits multiple outlets. For me, it seems that an extended umc would fill those gaps for destination charging. If you have that cord, and come across a 10-30,,then you're...

    anyone ever extended their UMC?

I'm thinking about having this done....and just wanted to see if others have tried. I'm planning on having 30 feet added,,,making 50 feet total. The extra length has amperage/volt loss issues, so it was recommended that the extended cord should not charge above 24A. I have 2 cords BTW.....the...

App keeps changing setting to range charge?

Anyone else had this problem? Each time I log in to the app...it warns me to switch off of range charge. Each time I make this change, no problem. I check the console in the car and charging % looks as expected. I then check the app, and it again warns me to switch from range mode....and...

    Model S Order & Delivery Tracker - Q1 2014

What kind of issues? Just curious, I'm taking delivery tomorrow.

    charging at an older home

Nothing in the vicinity on plug share...but there is an rv campground about 10 miles away with 50 amp charging.(not listed on plug share) Also campground with 30 amp about a mile away...but I don't have an adapter...and it sound like those tt-30 outlets are relatively worthless for the s.

    charging at an older home

The in-laws' lake house has a previously used, now unused 10-30,(laundry room was repurposed) on the front a front room in the house. anyone know if electricians would generally kill the juice to an old outlet like this? Or would it typically still be live? if that outlet is dead...or I'm just...

    planning a trip....elevation changes

Thanks for the offer, plugmein. 64 to 29 to 460 is the normal rt....but looking to switch it up to take 60 out of richmond. It's about 20 miles shorter...with slower speed. We took the ice on that route last time as a test run...and it was comparable time wise. Speaking of the 10-30, I was...

what to use for 30 amp campground hookup?

ZBB, So in the event that you did use that adapter...would you stay overnight at that particular campground? I'm just curious how it shakes out when folks use the campground for charging...but aren't really on a camping trip. I can see stopping for an hour or 2 to let the kids run around, so...

what to use for 30 amp campground hookup?

Thanks....that is what I gathered from other posts as well. It sounds like those hookups are no help...at least nothing to go out of the way for. Would you say it's a pretty safe bet that the 14-50 is what the 50 amp sites actually have? I'd hate to depend on that, and see some other random...

what to use for 30 amp campground hookup?

What sort of adapter is required for the typical 30 amp campground hookup? I believe the outlet is called a TT-30? Do any existing Tesla adapter hook into that thing?

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

From my experience, it has been 'the way of the DS' to be conservative on any anticipated date. I just finished production yesterday. The DS tells me it takes 5-7 days to deliver across the country. I believe there is a day of testing once it comes off the line, and another day of prep at the...

14-50 adapters vs multiple extension cords

Yeah that is what I was worried about. Clearly I don't know about about the topic in general....but getting into fabricating my own pigtails seems like a tall order. Although, some folks have stated that it is not terribly difficult.

14-50 adapters vs multiple extension cords

Hmm...so is there a L6-30p on the bottom side of that thing? Assuming there is...at that point you just plug in the ole tesla 10-30 adapter from the UMC, and plug into the car?
  24. A

14-50 adapters vs multiple extension cords

    Where did you find this?
  25. A

14-50 adapters vs multiple extension cords

Ok, so I like this idea more and more. Yes, no practical need for a 14-50 extension cord, as you can normally park right near it. I like all the adapters listed above essentially adapting to a L6-30 outlets, then using a 'master' L6-30 extension cord..... So here is where I get fuzzy....is...

    planning a trip....elevation changes

Thanks JohnQ.....yes that is our normal route using the ICE. Using the exact address(on the east side of the lake) Mapquest shows me about 164 miles on that route. There is another route we tried a few weeks ago, which take rte 60 directly west (not NW on 64, then back SW on 29)...which cuts...

    planning a trip....elevation changes

So I'd like to take my S from Glen Allen VA....to Smith Mtn Lake. The shortest route is about 150 miles, which is fine.....but it is definitely up and down some hilly areas, and involves a good amount of stop lights for the first hour or so. I know those factors can hamper mileage pretty...

    highest VIN number in production?

I keep looking at the site.... I've actually looked at it way more since going into production, worrying that it's some sort of fluke, and will switch back to sourcing parts at any time. I've heard of that happening to a few folks in the past. So far so good!

    Those with jump seats...

Sounds about right...thanks earlyadopter. I can see the jump seat going in and out of favor....
  31. A

    highest VIN number in production?

I'm assuming east coast will go into production and shipping first, then it'll work its way west, so as many deliveries can be completed before eoq. But yes...I was very surprised to go into production tonight. I figured at least another week.

    Those with jump seats...

Thanks jerry. At first glance it seems stroller (rather than car seat) related...but I'll dig around. I didn't really do my proper due diligence on this one before haphazardly starting a new thread.

    Those with jump seats...

Have you tried to store a child seat in the frunk? Not a baby sized seat, but for 2-3 yr old...where the seat has a bottom, and connected upright back... im anticipating having this seat in my car like normal, but having to store it in frunk from time to time if I have extra adults in the car...
  36. A

    highest VIN number in production?

Yep, Pilot,,,you are the low 43k of which I speak! I was hoping this thread would flush out some higher 43k guys that have also gone into production, but have not yet posted about it. Ideally I could 'see' the progress toward my 45k number...and get all worked up about it. Good times.
  37. A

    highest VIN number in production?

Thanks tiblot...that is consistent with other delivery timeframes I've seen. If I'm scheduled for delivery on the 27th, then I'd likely need to go into production by the 17th, at the latest. So, that is about a week away at this point, but there are probably 2k folks in line ahead of me to go...
  38. A

    highest VIN number in production?

I have seen someone with a low 43k VIN number go into production recently........any others in that range or higher? I'm in the low 45k range, and expecting late June delivery on the east coast. Still 2000 cars ahead, so if the late June delivery date is sound (given a 1 week cross country...

    Woo hoo - in production

steve,,,surprisingly I don't check my tesla that often...maybe once a day. I do, however, check tmc like 20 times a day. I'm sure my tesla checks will accelerate in a few days. The guy I took the test drive with mentioned something regarding production around the 9th...but that was a while...

    Woo hoo - in production

sounds about right, Steve. I am crossing my fingers for early delivery,,but not counting on it. A guy in town just picked his s up in Raleigh last week...about a week ahead of his scheduled delivery. It seems so far off though since folks with vins that are a few thousand lower than ours are...

    Woo hoo - in production

I'm #45160, confirmed May 6th. Scheduled delivery June 27, in Raleigh nc. I reserved about 3 days prior to confirming...which seems to be more indicative of actual delivery date. That may be incorrect,,,but just something I've noticed.

    Front License Plate in Virginia

so oll, are you planning on mounting the front plate? I originally told the ds to not touch it....then just caved, and requested that they mount it. Since the sc is so far off,,,I figured...meh, better to have them drilling holes in the niece one than me.

Richmond VA detailing , opti coat

Hmm,,not terribly reassuring for the local detailing scene. The guy at concours pointed me to a guy for xpel, Jose mora, that works out of his shop from time to time. now I'm all confused....I did successfully change my color to black..so the protection is more of an issue now. i was thinking...

I've not heard of them....but that isn't saying much. They are right near my office though.....so that could be a bonus if someone pops in the thread with a firsthand experience. I did notice they don't use OptiCoat...but rather 22ple. Carpool Auto Detailing was Opti Coat certified. I guess...

How long after finalize...to adjust an option?

This does help CricTic,,,or at least confirms the way I see it as well. I've never owned a black car...but always secretly lusted after them from afar. My past 2 cars were silver, which I like just fine, and they definitely appeal to the sensible 'easy to maintain' side of me. I do feel, with...

    Who's Expecting Delivery Soon???

Wow hsctiger...that is quite the bump indeed! I'm slated to pick up in Raleigh on June 27. I'm now going to obsessively keep my fingers crossed for 1 week bump up! Hey when did they notify you of your date change? It sounds like it was just a day or 2 warning? So...you must be about to take...

I'm due for delivery in late June, and looking to get Opti Coat Pro applied asap...hopefully that same day. Has anyone else in the Richmond area had this done? From my cursory internet search, it seems like Car Pool Auto Detailing may be the only place in town that does it. I remember using...

Northern Virginia to Savannah and back

i admire the sense of adventure. I've got a 2 and 5 year old....so selling the family on an extra hour, and definite charging stop is prohibitive on my end. Nevertheless the trip is totally doable...and I'd love to hear about your charging situation etc once your back. I love the outer banks...
