12.3.4 does a poor job of ending trip at charger

12.3.4 is great! However, it is annoyingly bad at ending trips at a charger or parking lot. In my experience, it slows down, begins jerky steering wheel movements as if unsure what to do, and I always have to take over. It would seem it would be possible to train it to go into a charging area...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

I've been using FSD 12.3.3 now for several days, including a 700 mile freeway drive. It's much better IMHO than 11.x.x. It slides a bit sideways when you're passing a truck, moves left to give a biker or jogger room, moves out of the passing lane if someone approaches you from behind, seems to...

    FSD 12.3.2.1 is fabulous

I received the free month trial of FSD 12.3.2.1, and have been trying it in our rural area. It is a huge improvement over 11! Even on our two lane twisty rural WA roads, it performs nearly flawlessly. Gone are the overly wide taking of sharp curves. It now slows appropriately for sharp corners...

FSD V12.3 Download Issue for HW4 vehicles

I received notice that 12.3.2.1 was available to me. It took about 25 minutes to download, then changed to a 'Install Software' button. I parked Tessie and triggered the install. Yesterday, I FSD beta'd with 11.4.6, which by itself was a big improvement on what I was using last summer (I'm gone...

How to get software updates while on a long road trip?

Ah. I now have a Slate AX(GL-AXT1800) travel router that only draws 9 watts, and can be plugged into the 15 W Tesla USB-C port for its power. Tessie oddly has no 120v outlet, only a 16A 12V outlet.

How to get software updates while on a long road trip?

TDS is our only wired internet source, via phone lines, in rural Washington, and they are so expensive and bad I finally quit them. We are in an odd spot that Starlink doesn’t serve, plus now you can’t suspend it and as I am abroad 6 months a year, it’s pricey. I’m going to try the ‘travel...

How to get software updates while on a long road trip?

I live in a rural WA area with no WiFi. I’m about to go on an 8,000 mile two month road trip, and need a full software update including FSD beta. We have good internet available at all our libraries, but Tesla chooses to not allow connecting to systems requiring a log-on (it would be easy: all...

Autopilot is useless on non-highway roads.

I live in a rural area in Washington State. Tesla does not understand the speed rules. On most country two lane roads, 50mph is the default speed. As you say, they commonly sign ‘Reduce speed to 25mph’for school zone. Then ‘end of 25mph zone’ rather than new speed. So Tesla usually thinks the...

Are there any heads up displays that show nags so you don’t have to (unsafely) look down?

I find having to look down to monitor nags so you won’t be disconnected to be unsafe. Either a heads up indicator or audio signal would be better. I’m a pilot, and you have to do so much scanning that things are (in the best planes) arranged to accommodate that safely. I really don’t understand...

Can I do a software update via flash drive?

I have the same problem. Tesla sales just told me to make a service appointment where they plug car in rather than use their WiFi, which (as you say) requires login and won’t work. Libraries, same problem. I’ll try the service appointment route next month. Not good for Teslas off on long road trips!

Optimal settings for long term storage to keep cabin dry

I have no idea, as my Y is stored in a metal building in rural WA without a decent WiFi connection. Tesla does seem to manage some communication with the vehicle through cellular signal, but not enough to do updates. But, as with computers, it probably is as safe to drive as it was with what it...

What does current FSD monthly subscription get you?

Does that mean it will do its own lane changes to pass and return without drive prompting?
  14. M

What does current FSD monthly subscription get you?

I’ve been abroad for 4 months, my 2023 Y LR up on blocks awaiting my return. I subscribed for several months and found FSD helpful on long freeway drives of thousands of miles around the West. However, the frequent ‘nagging’ struck me as unsafe, as it requires you to watch the screen rather than...

After 5-weeks, I turned FSD Beta off!

Mine is the same settings. I get regular software updates automatically, but not FSB Beta latest versions. I've now driven 8000 miles. I've quit subscribing to FSB until they let subscribers have the latest updates to FSB Beta. They will not say if/when this will happen.

Just completed 10 day Road Trip with 2023 Model Y RWD - Mixed feelings

As we say in the computer business, YMMV. I bought a MYLR 2023 in February, produced in Fremont, CA. (I have owned 3 Toyota Prius in years past). Perhaps I was lucky, but I had no fit and finish issues at all. I did a 6100 mile five week trip around the western US in May, and found the Y to be...

After 5-weeks, I turned FSD Beta off!

You're right. I started the 5 week trip on May 4th, and didn't get to download FSB Beta until about May 27. Till then, it was just Autosteer Beta. However, as of July 8th, 2023, Autosteer Beta STILL turns the wipers on in clear dry conditions, with a clean windshield, and won't accept...

Spurious Tesla Supercharger Visa charge [RESOLVED]

How to check Tesla? Charges don't appear when I log onto Tesla.com, nor are shown in my iOS Tesla app. The only listing of charges I can find are on my Visa account. Revised: it is indeed in iOS app, buried deep. Top right icon of your 'face':Account:Charging:History Thanks, F

After 5-weeks, I turned FSD Beta off!

It would always be helpful to include the FSD Beta version in a post. I received 11.3.6 on May 29th, 2023 for my Y LR 2023, and drove 6100 miles with it in 5 weeks. Generally good results, and found it useful especially for long freeway cruises. I did have several phantom braking events, and...

Spurious Tesla Supercharger Visa charge [RESOLVED]

My Tesla Y LR 2023 is sitting in my garage in rural Washington State. My Visa card just notified me of a $16.xx Supercharger charge at 2:33am EDT, June 16, which is impossible. Update: this appears to be a repeat billing for a charge made on June 7th at a Supercharger in The Dalles, OR. Further...

FSD Beta 11.3.6 does not understand rural road speed limits

Perhaps your area is different than ours. If the default speed is 50, and you approach a corner with a 25mph suggested speed and take it at 45, you'll run off the road into a fir tree, especially if there is any loose gravel or the pavement is wet. 25mph is usually a 90° curve. We even have some...

Positioning of attention alert leads to less safe supervision

I have a Y LR 2023, 6300 miles, and just did a long freeway drive using FSD Beta 11.3.6. I am a glider pilot, and as such I think that the attention alert system Tesla uses is poorly conceived and hazardous. Pilots are taught to scan, scan, scan for hazards. But making the alert you are required...

Do You Need to Update Anything In Settings After Tire Rotations…???

I'm about to do my first rotation at 6200 miles. I talked with a Tesla service rep about recommended patterns, and he said that side to side is a good idea, in order to reverse the direction of rotation, and that front to back is also OK. So I'm going to combine these, and do Left front to right...

Newbie - should I buy monthly FSD?

I have found FSD Beta 11.3.6 very much better than autopilot, and worth the subscription price (at least for long road trips). It really is quite capable now. I'll probably only subscribe for road trips.

    Imanginary speed signs?

It might be that users could be allowed to submit road speed suggestions (as you can via voice after disconnects from FSD). The problem, of course, is that in the many states that use something like 'Speed limit 50 unless otherwise posted' have so many speed limit changes it is hard to have them...

Yes, when I have had it happen, there was absolutely no visible obstacles front or back. There is some serious debugging needed surrounding this, and only Tesla can do it.

FSD Beta 11.3.6 does not understand rural road speed limits

The joke among engineers: "The great thing about standards is that there are so many to choose among!" If we hope to have FSD, a set of federal road marking and signage standards would be a very good idea, and both greatly reduce the complexity that programmers have to cope with, and also...

FSD Beta 11.3.6 does not understand rural road speed limits

I live in rural Washington State, have a 2023 Y LR and subscribe to FSB Beta 11.3.6. In our rural area, the speed limit is 50mph unless otherwise posted. Tesla defaults to 25mph. You cruise along, and there is a 35mph sign, and Tesla slows you. After the end of that, there is a 'End of 35mph'...

    Imanginary speed signs?

I have been driving long freeway distances in the desert West (Utah, Idaho) lately, using FSD Beta 11.3.6, and have experienced mysterious speed limit changes where Tessie changes the speed limit downwards inappropriately despite not having passed any speed sign. Also cases where we pass a...

    mirage problem?

I have been driving in the desert southwest recently, using FSB Beta 11.3.6, and started getting phantom braking off and on in clear weather, no cars in sight. My only guess is that I was seeing 'mirages' of water on the road ahead, which may fool Tessie. While it was occurring, the only...

Newbie - should I buy monthly FSD?

It updated to 2023.12.10, taking about an hour on a relatively slow motel wifi connection to download. It said '25 minutes'. After about 40 minutes, I got in thinking it was done (I had not checked on the app) and it ran the driver's window down halfway and would not put it up! My bad. So I sat...

Doesn't have a Request FSD beta button, what am I doing wrong?

After further driving with FSD (not FSD Beta), I must make some corrections to the above. FSD does seem to turn on some additional self-steering features on some (not all) freeways. When it does, it displays a blue 'center of lane' line, suggests changing lanes if someone in front of you slows...

Doesn't have a Request FSD beta button, what am I doing wrong?

You are conflating FSD and FSD Beta. FSD does not full self drive on interstates. All it will do is self-steer within a lane, change a lane if requested by driver, and adaptive cruise control. That's it. Anyone who paid $15,000 for FSD since November 2022 expecting to get more than that have...

Doesn't have a Request FSD beta button, what am I doing wrong?

As more and more people are saying on Youtube, it is pretty much fraudulent to call what Tesla is calling Full Self Driving as that. It is most certainly NOT that at the moment, nor has it been for several years. It not only doesn't Full Self Drive on city streets, it doesn't full self drive...

    Tesla App issue

I am an iOS programmer. A oddity in the Tesla app confused me for a while, as it does not conform to Apple guidelines. When you put up an icon that can be pressed to do something, you must have a consistent policy: does what the icon shows indicate the state of something, or does it offer to do...

Doesn't have a Request FSD beta button, what am I doing wrong?

The problem is that if you go to subscribe at $199 for FSD, you're still not told clearly that you're getting very little for your money beyond enhanced autopilot, and nothing that remotely should be called 'Full Self Drive'. It's misrepresentation. Calling it 'enhanced driver assistance' say...

Doesn't have a Request FSD beta button, what am I doing wrong?

As of May 18, 2023, still greyed out, and Tesla support won't give any date that it will be made available. Perversely, those who had it before the 'recall' have gotten and are getting periodic updates. Just not all us new buyers, for whom FSD is a myth used to entice us to buy, but not...

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

Perhaps that is what we 'non-FSD buyers' get just now when we pay a monthly fee. Autopilot with Steering beta. It does a pretty good job of steering and staying centered, and changing lanes on request, and excellent adaptive cruise control. But definitely not passing by itself, nor exiting, nor...

Energy content of battery by 10% slices

Thanks, jc. Very interesting. I'm an unusual case, storing the Y in the air on QuickJacks, plugged in for 6 months inside a cool steel building without somone monitoring it (my winters are spent abroad) so not being plugged in is not an option. I wish Tesla provided us with some ability to...

FSD problem dealing with exit lanes

For my part, in USA, I'm talking about regular exits on the right side. As I have driven more with regular (not beta) FSD, I have seen fewer errors in this regard. However, I just got a scare when I did a requested lane change from left to right, and wound up just before an exit, and the car...

Energy content of battery by 10% slices

The 'charge above 94% periodically' advice is new to me. Do you have an opinion about whether is good to also periodically charge to 100%, or to discharge to near 0%? Or any other opinions about best charge level for long term storage (say, 6 months)? I've read 50%. Likewise, usage range best...

FSD problem dealing with exit lanes

I just took a 700 mile drive in my MYLR2023, using 'regular' FSD (as FSD beta is on recall still so I cannot access it). Much was OK, but one hazard is that it gets confused when passing an exit. It seems to see an exit as a widening of the lane, and tries to center on the double width it...
