Disappointed with range estimate in first long term drive

Agree that this is real world range for an 85. My experience is very similar. There are many threads on here and elsewhere that advise you on how to drive in cold weather. Count on 30 - 35% less range, maybe more in very cold weather. It's really a very different car in the winter.

    Tesla Valet service goes POOF!!!

Andy, you and I along with thousands of others are in the same boat. I, too, would have thought long and hard about buying the car so far from a service center. In my circumstance, it will cost me nearly $1000 for a valet fee for the yearly service that costs $600 to go to the Mt Kisco service...

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

Disappointing that there is no progress on Erie. Perhaps Tesla is looking into a similar location near Erie, but Peach Street with all its attractions would be ideal. Restating the mantra -- Travel to Pittsburgh from western NY is a challenge without a supercharger somewhere near Erie. Like...

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

Agree completely. Still baffles me that nothing is scheduled for Erie at this point, and unless permitting happens soon, looks like another winter without being able to reach Cranberry from Rochester, even with Buffalo. I am sure that there's a lot going on behind the scenes, or at least I hope...

    Ranger Service Going Away?

I, too, was just informed that valet/ranger service will be at $3 per mile from the service center. Not complimentary anymore. Since I live over 300 miles from the nearest SC, so that would be $900 per tip (they didn't say if the $3 was for round trip or not, so could be $1800) to get the car to...

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

So glad Buffalo came on line. Really need Erie now. Come on, Tesla, find a location and get it done.

Front trunk open alert, but frunk not open

Yesterday, car began warning that the frunk was open, but it was not. Opened and closed frunk several times, appears to be closed properly. Rebooted center screen, dash, and powered off and on car, as per Tesla Service when I called them. The car is still able to drive but the three ding warning...

    Tesla or 14-50

I had a 14-50 and was happy with it until I got a HPWC (after the price drop) with 80 amps. Now if I forget to plug in the car at night, I can do so in the morning and the charging speed allows me to top off while I get ready for work. The other reason for the HPWC is the length of the cable -...

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

Eastview would be ideal. Lots of parking available.

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

That's certainly good news, if accurate. One would hope that the addition of the updated Syracuse supercharger online would suggest that the information is correct. Only time will tell, and I am sure the sleuths on this forum will sniff out any activity! One more point, the map for 2015 has a...

    Supercharger - Syracuse, NY

Fantastic! With Buffalo soon, the 90 corridor will be easily passable, even in during a polar vortex. Erie, PA, you're up next!

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

That's awful. A supercharger in that location is sorely needed. Buffalo, when completed, to Cranberry is about 211 miles, reachable in summer but iffy in the winter. To whom can we voice our concerns?

What do I do for the next few days while Smart Preconditioning is "learning"?

Actually, this function could be set up like the Nest thermostat. You manually warm/cool based on your mobile ap or visible tesla and the car learns your schedule over a few weeks. If it is the same each day, then it locks in the pattern earlier. This would not be hard to set up.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 Snow Tire Report

The R2's are that much better than the Pirellis? I have the Pirellis and they were quite good in the the snow in upstate NY. Can't imagine how much better they can get - I was unstoppable in a foot of snow. Good to know, will change to the R2's when the Pirellis wear out or if I am unsatisfied.

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

jrreno, thanks. I believe that many of these RV sites are closed for the winter. I will look at the White inn and other Fredonia sites. Erie can't come fast enough. Buffalo will help.

    Supercharger - Erie, PA

This is exciting. Erie is so important to me. Live in Rochester and need to travel to Pittsburgh for family events. Looks like we will have something "soon" here. With Buffalo on line perhaps in the spring, western NY will have access to western PA. However, until Buffalo and Erie come around...

    Frunk Dent (Frustrating...)

I am in the same boat with September 2014 production - takes a fair bit of force (never measured it but could be 50+ lbs) to close frunk. Makes me nervous each time but no frunk crease, yet.

tliving, where did you get the Nokians from?

Time to Shop for Winter Tires

mknox - can you give specifics on the "good torque wrench"? If not too challenging or very expensive, I'd like to tool up to do the seasonal changes myself.

Question to posters who got the TST wheels -- and I apologize for my naivete´ - how difficult is it to find an reputable installer to mount & balance the tires, and install the tesla tire pressure monitoring system? I've always taken my cars back to dealers -- and have been overcharged for...

They are gorgeous! I have a pearl white on the way and was wondering how the greys look. If only the lug lock also came in grey so it blended in with the other darker ones.

Finally! "T" day of steel grey Model S

The new grey looks fantastic. I was originally scheduled for the old grey and I agonized over whether to accept the new grey or choose another color altogether. I went with pearl white but after looking at your car, I would have been well served by going with "steel". Cograts!

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Email notification from DS just now. Left the "queue" and now in production! Pearl White S85 VIN 52460 Finalized 7/1 - projected home delivery 9/27 Rochester NY via Mt Kisco. Very Happy!!!!

Your Model S has entered the production queue at our Factory in Fremont, California

Wouldn't it have been helpful if someone at Tesla let us know what "in the queue" meant, either with an email to those affected, or in some other way? I actually thought that my car had actually advanced into another part of the production process. It's not a big deal, since I know as soon as it...

You guys are going to shoot me but I have a question on Rial Lugano wheels

The gun metal Rials look great on the darker color cars. Anyone have experience with the gunmetal color with a pearl white? I'm figuring that the silver will essentially look grey with the brake dust/road dirt, as I plan to use them for my winter rubber. Why not just get a pretty grey wheel...

Rumors - upcoming features, costs, etc.

Bugeater, that would be great news. Frustrating to say the least, actually, since I would have easily held off my order to get this function. However, advances like this will always happen and you can never time it just right. Just like the stock market. Still have a degree of suspicion...

Planning a Trip in a Tesla

talhas3 - I live in Rochester, NY and in late September I will become Tesla owner number 20 in this area, so I have looked into this a bit. Not an owner yet, so take what I have to say with that in mind. Chipper is right, you need to know if the loaner has a dual charger. Rochester NY seems to...

    Supercharger - Syracuse, NY

I second that. This supercharger will allow western NY folks to more easily get to Albany, especially in the winter. That stretch of the Thruway from Rochester to Albany, especially east of Syracuse is hilly and frequently snowy, and I'm sure energy use will skyrocket. There is the Best Western...

    T Sportline Pictures

Anyone using TST sportline turbine 19"s in metallic grey with a pearl white MS? I would ordinarily choose the silver option, but these will be for my winter tires and I expect them to be covered in dirt, salt, etc. a great deal, and they would probably look kind of grey already. I am also...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Confirmed 7/1/14, VIN 524XX S85, Pearl White. Had late September delivery date assigned, spoke with DS a few weeks ago, arranged for home delivery in Rochester NY September 27. Very hard to believe this will actually happen on time, despite DS indicating the late September deliveries are "on...
