    Syncing specific calendars from iOS

With the addition of Zoom conferencing, I decided I might like to share a single calendar with car. I don’t want all my calendars to be shared but I want to create a single calendar with Zoom entries that I can share with the car. I don’t seem to be able to select a single calendar in the IOS...

    Carplay

We're operating on Elon time. Elon is notoriously optimistic about timing. I'm sure he thinks Level 5 autonomy is just around the corner (as in next year) but the reality is it is at the most optimistic 5+ years away. As more states pass restrictions on drivers operating handheld devices and to...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

No, I really like my 85D and will probably replace it with a Tesla vehicle in the future. I understand that I'm grandfathered and this change is not likely to impact me for years, I nonetheless feel a basic understanding of the Supercharger network has changed. Given the high cost of electricity...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

It'll be interesting to compare the supercharger build out map of pre-Jan 2017 and one after. I doubt they'll be much change. Further, their current "no cost to me" plans are more than adequate for my current two or three times a year use of the Supercharger network. They don't need tocharge me...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

Sure, I do think one should start with a full charge but not every person your visiting/staying with has an available 240V circuit for you to charge on.

An Update to our Supercharging Program

I use the Supercharger network a couple of times each year traveling to friends in Upstate NY. I charge at my house which is north of Boston to 100% and then charge in Albany and near their home. They don't have the ability to offer me 240V destinating charging so I charge before I reach their...

    Software Update Today?

2.36.31 was released to address a remote hack of the vehicle discovered by some pretty sharp white hat hackers in China. This is the first known hack that didn't require access to the physical vehicle. Security researchers from China remotely hacked a Tesla Model S Car hackers demonstrate...

Car Hacking Research: Remote Attack Tesla Motors by Keen Security Lab

Tesla hasn't offered this update to my my 85D yet. A quick call to the Watertown Service Center this morning yielded the fact that only 25% of the fleet has the update at this point and I should see something in the next week. Even though the hack requires a rather unique combination unlikely to...

    Supercharger - Plattsburgh NY

Queensbury NY seems awfully close (~ 60 miles) to the Albany NY supercharger.

    HPWC installation

Any competent licensed electrician can install the HPWC. I watched the installation and it went without a hitch as the installation manual is very thorough.

Summon Changing to Smartphone Only (According to Consumer Reports)

I don't normally use Summons but I think solely relying on the cellphone is a bad idea One use case that will most likely no longer work is a extracting a car from an underground garage parking spot when the closely parked adjacent car prevents the doors from opening. It is rare to have cell...

-25 celcius has eaten 66% of my range

Definitely saw a 30ish percent range hit in Northeastern Massachusetts this weekend with the extremely low temperatures.. Was averaging over 400 WHr/mi at 65 mph and cabin heat set to 64F. Car sat out for part of the day so the battery was quite cold in the afternoon. As a result, not only was...

Tesla Priorities: Refine Autopilot or Fix Everything Else?

The Tesla Model S has been on the road for three years and I've had mine for 7 months but I still consider mine a Beta status vehicle. Tesla's 7.1 release was a non-event for me and still leaves the car in Beta status. I see half finished projects not only with Autopilot, stable NAV routing, and...

    Firmware 7.1

Waiting for the notification that my car will be updated. Hopefully, it'll be a short wait. While waiting, I watched the following inside and outside view of a Model S entering and exiting a garage on BGR: Tesla Model S software update 7.1 includes feature and more | BGR

    Will Tesla support CarPlay?

The Massachusetts legislature is holding hearings as part of the push for laws requiring "handheld device free driving" and Tesla's lack of Carplay integration or its Android equivalent is going to become a big problem if these proposals become law. The current Tesla controls do not permit me to...

    Necessity of using Tesla electrician

Yes, any licensed electrician can do the work. My cousin, the family's master electrician, has a well established but small client base and he said mine was the third HPWC that he's installed over the summer and had a couple of more scheduled but was awaiting delivery of the HPWCs themselves. I...

How much did your electric bill go up?

Driving about 1500 miles/mo around Northeastern MA costs me about $90/mo. As National Grid requires a minimum monthly average use of 2500 KWh to be eligible for TOD rates and as New England continues its transition from low cost base load plants, I'm afraid my costs are only going to increase...

    Firmware 7.0

Yes, I agree. I'd prefer seeing the actual instantaneous power value along with the power and/or regen limits, if they're applicable.

Autopilot tries to exit at every right lane exit opportunity (SoCal)

My experience was exactly as you stated. The dashed lines used on I-93 to account for rush hour breakdown lane use seem to help define the current right lane and kept the software from becoming confused. I agree that guiding the cars path shouldn't disengage the system.

Autopilot and v7 coming this Thursday! (15-10-15)

With new software like V7.0 Autopilot (Beta,) I want as much information as possible. The reports of quirks like the Model S wanting to take every exit was important to me to know ahead of time since I'm almost certainly driving on highways far from the mothership that haven't yet been mapped in...

    Info on Autopilot + v7

I found my Model S continually "yielding control" a bit annoying when traveling in the right lane on highways when the car wanted to take every exit and I tried to guide the car to continue on the highway. Hopefully, all of the "learning" that occurs whenever a driver takes control will fix this...

Future of autopilot on current gen hardware

For the current generation of Tesla automobiles, I'm sure the lawyers and design engineers quickly got that notion out of his mind.

    Will Tesla support CarPlay?

OK, we've got V7.0 with Autopilot (Beta) but the Model S still seems incomplete. Numerous state laws are restricting drivers from touching hand held devices while cars are in operation and since the steering wheel controls of the Model S provide rudimentary control of content selection on...

    Firmware 7.0

Update for my 85D completed about 45 minutes ago and have yet to take the first drive but noticed the iPhone app is now reporting interior temperature without rounding to nearest 0.5 C. Now off to the interstate for a taste of AP driving.

    MOR-EV $2,500 rebate in MA for P90D?

Probably, the enumeration of acceptable EV models on the MOR-EV website needs updating. I'm still waiting for my rebate check after almost a month.

Autopilot lane keeping still not available over 6 months after delivery

I agree. I, too, bought a car that I enjoy driving and having seen closeup what can go wrong with realtime control software, any use of autopilot by me would be under nearly ideal conditions during long road trips.

How many MA drivers are on TOU rates?

The National Grid site (National Grid - Service Rates) states "Time-of-Use (R-4) This rate is available for any residential, church or farm customer whose average energy usage exceeds 2,500 kWh/month."
  28. 5

How many MA drivers are on TOU rates?

I won't be taking advantage of the TOU rates as my monthly electrical energy use even with charging the MS is not much over half the minimum monthly energy use (2500 kwh) required to qualify for the R-4 rates. I'm wondering how the "14-04" time varying rates will change things, too.

    Firmware 6.2

Had a surprise this afternoon when traction control activated on a dry surface while under mild acceleration. The car very sluggish and I thought I had some sort of power failure.

Vibration at 3-4 mph at the end of regenerative braking

Yes, I thought the same and almost reverted back to trying to put the clutch in. In my MS, I feel it is coming from the front. I had range mode enabled at rhe time..

Has your car shut down before it hits zero?

Exactly, having additional data available via an option setting to those users that want it is not an unreasonable request. Heck, the mothership is getting it along with my location so why shouldn't I get to see my data from my MS?

    Firmware 7.0 Beta Discussion

Absolutely, the analog power meter must be restored. Tesla's engineers and designers are making a big mistake if this is not prominently displayed.

    Firmware 7.0 Beta Discussion

I agree the MS is like driving the manual transmission cars I've always owned. The single pedal driving is great and it is one of the features that I really enjoy though unlike the MS, in manual transmission cars you have to eventually downshift.

Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay, please

Yes, CarPlay and the Google equivalent are needed and should be high priority for integation with the rumored 17 inch display UI update. Not having CarPlay is one of the few things that hinders my full appreciation for my MS. In particular, no CarPlay in my MS means having to manually select my...
