Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

So I drove the Taycan and really didn't like it at all. Tech was second rate, everything was optional at great cost and the lack of regeneration was annoying after 7yrs in Tesla's. Range was very average as a result. No assisted driving tech to speak of, user interface was crap and salesman was...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

And even then anyone in the UK can drive a LHD car if they really wanted a Plaid.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I saw somewhere that they had resumed deliveries to LHD European markets but I haven't checked into it myself. Personally I'd be very reticent to buy an EV from a small manufacturer. As Tesla found out it's one thing to come out with a model but it is exponentially harder to get it into mass...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

You did indeed, my Model S wears the "360" plates (wife's car) and my X wears "275". I've been interested in Heritage plates since I was a kid and started collecting them several decades ago when they were relatively "cheap". I'm as surprised as anybody else about the values of them today. I...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

My fully optioned 2017 X P100D was circa $310k OTR. I strongly suspect that the Plaid if it ever gets here will be north of $300k OTR, perhaps significantly north given the strong US dollar and the rise in OTR costs here in the Socialist State of Victoria. I'm sick of waiting for the Plaid...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I hope so, with the adverse currency conversion, our LCT, GST and ridiculous stamp duty, any US price increases on S and X are effectively doubled by the time the car is in the hands of an Australian customer.

I've been waiting years and years for fsd, and still zip, nada. Not even offered a beta test...

Daily commuting is mind numbingly boring and in Melbourne, very time consuming. Anything that makes that easier and more comfortable is welcome. After 5 years and 150,000kms with FSD equipped Tesla's my experience is "FSD" does that. Is it worth $12k though? Probably not at this stage. As for...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I reckon a fully optioned Plaid will be closer to $300k now. I'd read the fine print on your contract, that is a huge Delta for Tesla to swallow and they don't have a great history of looking after customers. The website has had pricing and spec TBA for 6 months or more. These orders will be a...

I've been waiting years and years for fsd, and still zip, nada. Not even offered a beta test...

FSD at $4200 on a $300k P100D in 2017 was worth a punt. I've got it on both my cars and have had the FSD ECU upgrade already (I had to ask), and features have been added over the 5 years of ownership. I'd put FSD in the "nice to have" category having used it for 100,000 km in the X and 50,000km...

ModelX heading out of warranty - any tips or suggestions?

` If it is about to go out of warranty (like mine) it sounds like you were one of the unfortunate souls who bought the car at the peak of Tesla pricing. My Model X P100D was north of $300k drive away. If you have a guaranteed buy back deal the price you get to hand it back is likely to be...

    I want a new Model S

Just wait 6 months after the release and Tesla will drop the retail price by 30%

    I want a new Model S

I'd love to buy a new Tesla X or S to replace my existing cars that are about to go out of warranty. Not interested in going back to ICE vehicles and Tesla still make the best EV's out there; but the current Models are barely any different to the cars that I already own. I'd probably update to...

    Trading in with Tesla AU

I've always found it intriguing that the Tesla's on Carsales are invariably all private sales. If Tesla Inc. is taking older model Tesla's as trade-ins on new Tesla sales, what are they doing with the trade-ins? There are almost never any "used" older Model Tesla's on the websites "used...

    Looking at Model X 75D - Syd-New range question

Will do over the next few weeks. I'll be charging the S a bit more too and will be interesred ro see if it drops off as my X did.
  16. 360C

    Looking at Model X 75D - Syd-New range question

Very interesting. Both my P100D's are 2017 models. The X has 65,000kms and the S has 28,400kms. So both well within a year of each other but the X charges at 135km/h and the S at 335 km/h. Doesn't add up to me.

    Looking at Model X 75D - Syd-New range question

I've noticed the charge rate gets throttled back pretty quickly if you start to use the Superchargers regularly. When the only base was in Richmond I never used them unless I had to visit the dealership, a rare occurrence. When the opened the Moonee Ponds chargers it became convenient. For 8mths...

    Looking at Model X 75D - Syd-New range question

Model X and Model S energy usage isn't comparable. The Model X is the equivalent of a 1960's Cadillac gas guzzler. Economical it is not. I have both Model X and Model S P100D's, both are 2017 models. My Model X long term average over 65,000km's is 265 wh/km. The X has 22" wheels, my daily...

What was missing from your Model 3? (if anything...)

Owners are very passionate and knowledgeable about their Tesla's and as a result do tend to hold Tesla to a higher standard than they might otherwise with a comparable ICE vehicle. Whilst I am no great fan of Tesla, their "no customer service" model and the abysmal retained values, I do like...

Model S Performance with Ludicrous insurance

I've been running Tesla's for about 5yrs now and insurance costs have increased pretty dramatically in that time. As background I have a 30+ year claim free history and a long record of insuring high $, high risk vehicles. Typically a high performance/risk/cost ICE vehicle is about 1% of the...

What was missing from your Model 3? (if anything...)

I think you guys are probably being a bit harsh in your criticism of faults in your Model 3's. From what I've seen I think Tesla quality control is actually not that bad for what they are and the price they currently sell them for. Not perfect by any means; but really not that bad. For...

Anyone tinted the glass roof, results?

I have the roof on both my Model S and Model X tinted, plus the upper portion of the windscreen of the X. It makes the cars much more livable in summer. I had to cajole the installers into doing it though, they refused initially as it is against the law in Victoria, even at the correct tint...

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Yes the loss is mearly irritating, not devastating. One consolation is that Tesla still make the best EV's out there when viewed as a total package, so it's not like there is a better product that I would prefer to be driving. Incredible product, woeful company.

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

I'm driving it all over the place 7 days a week, so it gets around. Do you find the Model 3 a step up or down from the S/X ? I'm sure nobody would be surprised to hear that I cancelled my Model 3 reservation on the last round of retail price drops.
  25. 360C

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Yeah really - fully optioned $320k OTR in Victoria, first shipment.

Where do the written off Teslas go in Aus?

I haven't noticed any salvage Tesla's coming up for auction recently. I'm sure they are still getting written off at a prodigous rate judging by the difficulty and expense in insuring these things, so where are they going?
  27. 360C

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

I paid $320k for my Model X P100D almost exactly 3 years ago with the full self drive option, same hardware spec as your Model S. I also have a Model S P100D, same build date with ehanced autopilot but no FSD option. I'm far from impressed to still be waiting for the hardware upgrade on the...

    AU Pricing

I'm very much aware of the effect of all our taxes on new car pricing and depreciation. I've bought a number of cars where the tax component on them exceeded the total OTR cost of either of my P100D's. My point is the expectation of new car pricing stability so the total ownership cost is...

    AU Pricing

I probably would be more tolerant, though still very annoyed, if I kept all of my cars for 14 years as well. In reality cars have always been my "thing", I've owned a lot of them in my time and I tend to change them every 2-3 years. It is rare for me to keep a car for much longer; but I've owned...
  30. 360C

    AU Pricing

As I said in other replies, buyers expect new car pricing stability and the normal depreciation experience is expected when you buy a new car. If a car loses $25k a year in expected and entirely predictable depreciation then fair enough, you know that buying in. The problem arises when a...

    AU Pricing

I'm long past any inclination to show off to impress anybody, friends included. I think I've used the full "I want my Mommy" Ludicrous mode once in my Model S P100D to see what it was like and as far as I can recall I've never even bothered in my Model X P100D. As I said in a previous post, the...
  32. 360C

    AU Pricing

All new luxury cars these days, ICE or EV are computers on wheels. Buyers expect pricing stability on the new car price, comparing a car to a straight out computer component isn't valid IMHO.
  33. 360C

    AU Pricing

As I said, I love the product and neither my wife or I would contemplate going back to an ICE vehicle for daily transport. Having said that, people expect price stability in a new car price and manufacturers and importers use currency hedging to achieve this as much as possible. Tesla OTOH raise...

Congratulations, I think that is easily the top contender for the most banal and irrelevant comment I've ever read on any of the many internet forums I frequent. Well done

    AU Pricing

You guys seem awfuly calm about the butt reaming that Tesla has just handed existing owners again with this latest, and largest price drop. I'm an early adopter having first bought a P85D Model S 4 years ago and later fitting it with Ludicrous for $$$. I am currently running my 2nd (P100D...

    Question about solar power

You're right; but I've got the batteries anyway. I'm just transferring them from my work system to my home system. I am going to upgrade the 65kw work system with about 200kw of lithium batteries from salvage Tesla vehicles as a fun project. I would expect that there will be a couple of months...

    Question about solar power

Here is some more data that may interest those looking at solar/battery storage with EV's. Initially we had a 10kw system with 24kw of storage. Our first Tesla arrived early August 2015. We upgraded the system to 20kw solar and 48 kw battery storage on 25/10/16 Our 2nd Tesla arrived late...

    Question about solar power

An update on my earlier posts about running Tesla's on our home solar/battery storage system. This is a full year of running 2 Tesla's and the house on our upgraded 20kw solar/48kw battery storage system. My conclusion is each Tesla is adding the equivalent energy usage of one average house. So...

    Real world range in P100D

That would have been before the new price drop and no doubt on a made to order new P100D with all the options. Go for a lightly used inventory vehicle and the delta is around $70k depending on the spec and mileage of the inventory car.
  40. 360C

    Real world range in P100D

As you know I made the change from an identical P85D to yours a few months back. The new P100D Model S runs the same big wheels and it is left in "Ludicrous" permanently. On 100% charge the estimated range shows around 485km and 430km at the usual 90% charge. The car is mostly used by my wife...

    Model X Range

I agree, my Model S runs the 21" wheels and my Model X on the 22" wheels has a much better ride quality. I have driven a Model S on 19" wheels back to back with my Model S on 21" wheels and the difference in ride quality was startling.
  42. 360C

    Model X Range

I have a P100DL Model X running on the 22' wheels. It's only 6 weeks old so I've only covered 1700 km's; but the average energy usage to date is 294 Wh/Km. The Model X is the EV equivalent of the old 4mpg American muscle cars. My P85DL Model S has an average energy use of 215 Wh/Km measured...

How are you protecting the back of those seats?

My Model X was delivered about 6 weeks ago and before I drove it I had the backs of the gloss black seats covered in clearplex film along with the entire painted surfaces of the exterior. One of my boys scratched the film on the back of the seat in front of him on the very first outing. I...

Has anyone obtained a Powerwall 2 installation quote yet?

I've been running the system for 2yrs all up, all but the last 6mths in the first version which was half the size. June and July are the worst 2 months for yield where it produces just under half the yield of December/January. It won't be off grid running the 2 Teslas; but it would comfortably...

    8.1 in Australia

If it doesn't get significantly better by 1000km I will be taking it back to ask why; but at this stage I am just hoping it is in a learning cycle or something.
  47. 360C

    8.1 in Australia

Well my experience in the first 500km's is quite different. It either doesn't work at all (minor roads) or it tries to kill me (freeways) by travelling at the extreme outer lefthand edge of the lane to the point where it would hit the car next to me if I left it to its own devices. I would have...

Has anyone obtained a Powerwall 2 installation quote yet?

Sorry it took me a while to get back to replying to this; but hopefully this will provide some data that might be useful to you. Why did I go for this setup? Not that easy to answer; but probably because I like to keep life interesting with a never ending series of complex projects :) I...
