Hopefully Denver since there are no construction sites from Canada to Mexico and California coast to Ohio to distract anyone.

    Supercharger - Ozark, AR

It is good to see Tesla is adding a few amenities to the SC sites ;)

    Supercharger - Shelby, MT

It might be a good idea to suggest to prospective SC community leaders for them to contact civic leaders in places that have SCs. Santa Rosa NM comes to mind. The motel there offers a 10% discount for meals at their restaurant and like the Tesla business (good food too). The local car museum...

Supercharger price hikes: what's your opinion?

"We" is who? Homeowners with a 240V, 200A feed? There is a big difference between the demand charge on a home vs a SC. This applies to all utilities. Try getting a 2" water line run to your house and see what the demand charge would be. And it doesn't matter a bit if you don't use one drop...

Supercharger - Fort Smith, AR (unconfirmed)

Gaps in coverage maps of any kind (cell towers, etc) are not good for promoting your product/service.

    Updated autopilot sucks!

I have given up on autopilot given the new update. It is discouraging.

    Supercharger - Pecos, TX

FYI, the Santa Rosa, NM SC has a nice car museum close to it. The guy who owns the museum restores cars so the exhibits change.

I will post any news I receive from Mr. Ramos. Maybe the second time around will be better.

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

FYI: Good morning Mr. Stuckey, My name is Remie Ramos, I am the new EDC director that replaced Mr. May after his retirement. I apologize for the delayed response but I wanted to verify information before replying. The building permits have all been approved and permitted on our side then...

San Angelo and Carlsbad? Not Interstate but an alternative until TADA weakens/disappears. Another practical side is that I'm not interested in traveling in places that can be dangerous to my family's or my health. charliepmayer's comment about getting hurt may be a little tongue-in-cheek but...

Jeff: Did you get to see the car museum in Santa Rosa? An unexpected gem! I saw a great Woodie there. The guy has a restoration shop and the variety of cars he gets in surprised me.

Fossil Fuel Divestment - Saudis Want Out

Nope. It is a very logical world - follow the money. But very arrogant - hey, we elected them.

Thanks for the info. I visited this forum to research a stop on a future trip. Looks like plenty of other places to spend $ where I will feel welcome.

    Supercharger - Charlottesville, VA

Hopefully a little closer to topic: Is this SC in a safe place to visit? Sometimes radical places or places that tolerate problems are places to avoid, or at least spend a minimum amount of time at or only visit them during daylight hours. I have a high school friend that lives a few miles...

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

To add to purplewalt's comments on sites: Be sure to see the car museum in Santa Rosa NM.

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

How about the Firestone Texas Proving Grounds (TPG) about 15 miles west of Ft Stockton. It is about one mile north of I10. Not much for amenities (yet) but probably a safe place and Firestone would have time to make a pitch for their tires on Tesla vehicles. You could always make a quick stop...

    Supercharger - Erwin, NY

This is great news. The Corning Glassworks is on our bucket list.

    Supercharger - Marshall, MI

This makes Hickory Corners, MI and the Gilmore Car Museum doable from several directions. There are a number of national car museums on the Gilmore campus - fun car place to visit.

Another solid experience with Tesla Service, and WOW the P100DL is scary

Loaners are the best way to experience L. We got a 90L and have not turned on the L in almost a year. Besides making us and our passengers sick the car just plain exceeds the human body's tolerance for acceleration. Besides finding places to be ludicrous while your vision is narrowing. It...

What other cars did you consider when shopping for MS

    I thought about a red S.

    Comments on an EVtripPlanner trip?

We did a couple of short test trips before our first cross-country. It was worth it plus we had fun.

Should I get a public charging network account?

ChargePoint, GreenLots. A more important question - CHAdeMO or not. Our CHAdeMo saved us twice when the SC in St Charles, MO was flaking out last year. The other forms of charging are pretty slow and can really change your travel plans.

If you had $150k for a car, but the p100d didn't exist, what would you buy?

We would do exactly what we did: buy a VOLT and wait for a MS. If no MS ever: buy a VOLT , build a bigger garage (with a lift) and get a frame-off restored late 1931 Model A truck, and maybe a Vickie and a Tudor.

Supercharger - Van Horn, TX (permanently closed)

This saves a few feet of real estate - maybe an issue. If so, smart thinking.

    Planning a road trip

Our kid-less experience verified that if you plan on having fun on charging breaks (walks, eating, site seeing, etc) the trips will be enjoyable. The car with a lot of extra buffer was ready to go about 98% of the time before we were ready to continue our trips. Check for things to do around...

    NOT TRADING

Faraday is part of the Tesla plan. I hope they make it but I'm not going to help them either.

How often do you open sunroof (pano roof)?

Don't use it very often but it is nice to have, kinda like the power lift on the trunk lid. We do exercise it at least once a month to keep it moving. I was waiting on someone a couple of weeks ago, 25 degrees and opened it up for a few minutes and enjoyed the fresh air.

Giving a Tesla Moment to my 92-year-old father-in-law

We were going to delay our MS purchase until this year but decided to get one in December of 2015 so that we could take my folks for a ride in March of 2016.. They are 92 and 94 now and a year makes a difference. We are glad we took the plunge and provided the MS experience for them last year...

An Indian Reservation would be a good place for a service center and a showroom (by a casino?) The car dealerships don't own the Indian politicians like they do the NM ones.

What size wire for HPWC install?

It is a good idea to consult the code book or other source for wire sizes/types/conduit sizes and distances of runs. Distance could make a difference!

    Great Service experience

This sounds like the Cincinnati Service Center!
  41. John Stuckey

How have you handled accident damage (as in I'm looking for other's experience)

It can always get a little worse. $34K damage; knucklehead was cited; knucklehead had $25K limit on insurance and is a bum. I have $1k deductible. Major lesson: always have your dash cam on! Otherwise it is a he said, knucklehead says.

Do Your Brakes Emit a Cheap Sounding Squeak?

6,000 miles is a fair guess. Could be more if you use regen a lot. Our noises went away at about 8-9000 miles. And then I was involved in an on-purpose (humaniod ran a red light) wreck and the left front brake was replaced. The brake noise, left front, is back again for another 8-9000 miles :)

    EVTripplanner Accuracy

Before we did a RT from Dayton to ABQ we took a test trip to the closest SC outside of Dayton. We found the "percentage remaining at destination" number in the car to be very helpful. Play with it, speed up slow down. The only way to build your confidence is to figure out what works for you...

Has the quality of Tesla service gone into the toilet?

Just had our MS in for annual service in Cincinnati. Easy to get appointment. Loaner MS warmed up (5 degrees this morning) for us. They also took care of a few minor issues and answered several questions. Our car inside and charged up (still 15 degrees outside) when they called us for...

    Must have accessories?

Must have - Dash cam. Blackview is pricy but good reviews. rearviewsafety.com has specials (read best pricing) on dash cams and are good to deal with. Lift gizmo (thin wire and ends) for truck shelf.
  48. John Stuckey

    Must have accessories?

    Harbor Freight $13, works great.

    Lets see your garage!

Our "cover" photo shows our pole barn. MS on one side the Volt on the other. Underground conduit for the 50A lines to the wall units.
