The software only starts heating the battery actively when It absolutely needs it, to avoid using extra electricity. Another trigger is to turn on your cabin heater.

Same amount of energy is being consumed. I guess the higher amperage has a higher loss due to heat, but if you are getting that specific you would have to take in account the extra runtime of the computers and pumps while charging 110v due to the increase in time charging.

I would normally take this as a possibility, however we have the smallest battery pack from the same year. My car definitely runs fans while supercharging, however even when charging at 80 amps at home the ambient temps must be above 80 degrees.

I am blown away by the fact your cars run the fans that loud when you are not driving! Even in Texas August summer heat my car never runs the fans more than low for longer than 10 minutes.

For the few of you that have disassembled one, how is the liquid cooling set up? Secondly, this computer has the power of 10-15 mac pros, what would be the limitation on using a computer like this running a normal Pc or OS X interface.

That's what I assumed was the culprit I was having a issue with vampire drain. From what me and the service advisor/ technician understood from corporate is that it is related to the bms / associated computers waking periodically to check the conditions.

mine does the same, raised an issue with service center multiple times, made its way to corporate engineering, turns out its normal. Note there seems to be no real purpose behind it.

How is the computer architecture in the Tesla laid out? I know there are computers for most subsystems as well as the internment cluster computer + 17" touchscreen computer. What kind of interaction do the main 2 computers have with the individual subsystem computers?

According to business insider this morning, all Tesla's ordered after January,2017 will not come with free supercharging. There will be a credit of 400kw and after that there will be fees on a per charge basis.

When i call and report issues, they can usually help you find a stall will the max amperage possible. Seems like they know about the issue when I report in, maybe Tesla owners in Texas just stay on top of them ;)
