Will Tesla Charge for HW3 to use a FSD subscription?

Entitled is probably too strong of a word for how I feel. More like disappointed if this is the way it stays. You can say EAP is feature complete all you want, but when my wife is yelling at me to turn it off after it phantom brakes for an overpass shadow yesterday then it doesn't feel like I'm...

    Benefits of HW3 v. HW2.5 besides FSD?

I think the biggest bright side is actually the $1500 upgrade cost. Seems unlikely that they will significantly raise the hardware upgrade prices (as compared to FSD software price) so then if Tesla holds firm on not offering HW3 for free then at least I have an upgrade path. Previously the only...

    Benefits of HW3 v. HW2.5 besides FSD?

Good to know that I'm not missing much with my HW2.5 car. However, I'm concerned that this is the death knell to any improvements to Enhanced Autopilot features on HW2.5 cars. That's where it gets tough for me, not necessarily the price to upgrade to be able to do FSD monthly, but the...

With the eminent arrival of FSD Subscription... HW 3 upgrade?

The bigger issue, in my opinion, is that if the promised EAP features like NOA continue to improve on HW3 and beyond while the software on my car with HW2.5 (2018 M3) stagnates due to hardware limitations. In that case then I would feel entitled to a free hardware upgrade.

Will Tesla Charge for HW3 to use a FSD subscription?

I don't know if I'm remembering wrong, and maybe it became clear sometime after I got my car in July 2018 with Enhanced Autopilot, but I remember always thinking that I'd need to upgrade to FSD to get the HW3 computer. Maybe this was clear when the HW3 computer was announced? The bigger issue...

Tesla Model 3 goes to the Prom...

A little off topic, but the data doesn’t support your claims. Teens today are less likely to drink, smoke, have sex, and get pregnant. I still don’t know if I’d trust one with my 3 though! Today’s teens are better than you, and we can prove it

Why Tesla needs better PR/Marketing people

tl;dr If the people at Apple had announced the news from Tesla over the last month they would've done it in one event, peoples mind's would be blown, and the narrative around Tesla would be completely different right now. Somehow Tesla took 6 positive developments and 1 strategy change and...

Am at a loss: is the $2k FSD offer going away on Monday?

Ok, I'm an EAP buyer and am agonizing over this upgrade. I made the pros and cons list below. My biggest concern is the price might go up beyond the $4k if/when the FSD features become super compelling. If they can sell vapor for 2-5k, how much will they be able to sell an actual product for? My...

Noticed battery warming just plugged in not charging.

Well, It's at least 4 measurements as I noticed the behavior twice (the second time when it was -15 F) and Big Earl and Stretch both got the same number. I'd be interested if anyone is seeing more than 2.5kW with a fully cold soaked battery. I also don't know why the car wouldn't pull the max...

Noticed battery warming just plugged in not charging.

I noticed this behavior today as well. Temps were right around zero. Plugged into a 30amp source that usually maxes out at around 200volts. Battery still had the blue bar. Car only pulled 12 amps at 200v for several minutes. Seems to indicate the peak battery heating power is about 2500 watts.

The Mystery of the Edit Button

    Current RWD orders.....delayed again?!?

Yeah, it must be a placeholder. They haven't started mass AWD production yet. They hadn't invited anyone new to configure until yesterday. Most people who ordered right away after the last invite are getting deliveries scheduled between now and mid July. If every new order now is saying...

Go Ahead -- Grade my Vanity Plate Idea

    Functionality of air vent controls

I still doubt the "with physical controls I can operate most, if not all, controls of my car without taking my eyes off the road" claim. I'd like people making that claim to actually check their habits while driving. I know I momentarily take my eyes off the road to adjust most things in the...

Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

Honestly I think the websites are overkill. The google sheets with the published web version is plenty fast, and the google form for data entry seems to work pretty well. New plots and visualizations could be useful, and I’d hope @Troy would be ok with people pulling data to provide those, but...

This seriously needs to be resolved. Is there a trusted user or Mod that could be some sort of arbitrator? I think we are coming to a point where we will have a lower sampling of the data as day 2 and beyond reservation holders start getting invites, VINs, and deliveries and these people are...

Watch Autoline this week on Thursday

Definitely think he was very good and insightful when he was in his comfort zone on the details of what was analyzed. Where he started to lose me was when he drifted into speculation. The worst example was in the last few minutes when he speculated that the number of cars in customers’ hands was...

@Troy @chojn1 Is there a calculation on this sheet that shows estimated total number of deferrers? As we get farther along with only 1 config available I'm imagining a huge number of reservation holders waiting for some future option. When a new option becomes available (or the Tax Credit...

    LR non-PUP

Any predictions on when the LR non-PUP car will be released? Currently I want the SR w/PUP, but I think that will only be available with the half tax credit. Definitely feeling frustrated/sad. Not because the delay in general, more about the bait and switch with SR timing and options pricing. The Automobile 2.0: Chevrolet Bolt EV vs Nissan LEAF vs Tesla Model 3 Long Range

I found it in there, Snow Drift's post has the text quoted. This doesn't make me rethink my Model 3 purchase long term, but may have me thinking about delaying my purchase to wait for AWD and maybe a model year or 2 to be certain any kinks are worked out. My prediction on Model 3/Tesla

The OP may be right but I think the theory of failure is wrong. The bottleneck could linger longer than expected, but the solution would be to just throw money at the problem. That could come from debt or stock offering or, worst case Elon’s checkbook. The problem would come if to get through...

    Tesla Replaces Half Dozen Parts

I am really sick of hearing you all cry about trunk / storage space in the 3.

I'm not concerned with cargo space in standard config. I'm more interested in cargo space with the rear seats folded. If they lay nice and flat and low I'll be good.

[POLL] How much will the 75kWh upgrade cost?

Yeah, I think anything less than $8k is unlikely and $10k-$12k range is more likely. Current Model S 75D to 100D upgrade is $23k for 25kWh. That includes air suspension and high amp charger so true cost is more like $20k. Using the same $/kWh the upgrade would cost $16k if it's 55->75 and $12k...

    Wiki Model 3 delivery estimator

So unless Elon had another red wine and ambien induced tweetstorm in the next few weeks, seems like the estimator will be locked in now until the reveal and configurator opening. It's unfortunate that there is more uncertainty now than earlier in some ways (which configs will be the initial...

Trunk is now 5 inches longer than at the initial reveal.

This GIF looks more accurate to the changes I've been thinking I've been seeing in the RC's. Slightly taller and more vertical back end with minimal or no increased overhang. This also results in slightly less downward angle of the rear glass. This would definitely increase interior trunk height.

Model 3 Only 1 Screen Officially

So when you're in a mode that is designed for the driver to eventually pay little or no attention to the driving of the vehicle the display is going to change to take up a large amount of real estate to display the autopilot interface? That doesn't make sense at all. That's when you'd want to be...

Most 35k (all 35k?) and many 25k plus cars have a lot of that information in front of the driver. And that still doesn't address monitoring autopilot and autopilot alerts. Any current AP model S/X owners want to weigh in on how necessary the information about AP that the IC displays is?

Yo, everyone, screen directly in front of driver IS NOT JUST FOR SPEED. I agree that I could get used to not having speed right in front of me, but a Tesla is a modern car, there is a lot of information provided on the instrument cluster screen. Energy usage, navigation directions, climate...

I honestly wouldn't mind if the Model 3 doesn't get any free credits in order to continue the SC network expansion, keep the congestion down, and hit the $35k starting price. As long as I have access to use the superchargers and the price to charge is <= gas I'd be fine with it. I still get...
