I had been using summon successfully a number of times in the past, taking my car out of and into the garage. On Saturday, backing out of the garage, just as the front wheels were passing by the narrow garage door opening the wheels turned sharply right and wedged into the door frame...
I frequently use summon as my garage is very narrow. Its worked every time except once when I hadn't lined up the car well. I aborted (via my phone) as the car looked like it was about to scrape one side.
Good point about the app vs. the fob. I will start using the fob in the future.
Why do I...
I come close to agreeing with you. Instead, I'm selective on when I use EAP on local roads as I want to provide as much information back to Tesla to help them improve their software. I keep engaged with my hands on the steering wheel getting a sense for the times that the Tesla goes stupid on...
I got the blue "HOLD" alert for the first time yesterday - and it happened a few times. Always on a flat road. This hadn't happened before and I haven't had a software upgrade in weeks. Curious.
The upgrade would have no impact on 98% of my driving needs. But that's just me.
I looked at EVplanner to see the impact of driving a 60 vs. a 75 from DC to Orlando. Same number of stops to recharge but about an hour less time recharging.
I've experienced similar issues. Having said that, based on my (limited) Autosteer experience to date, its far from ready. Like others, hoping that an upgrade comes "tomorrow" to fix this.
Given the long time with no updates, I'm wondering if regulators have stepped up their game and imposed some rigor on "Autopilot". It would explain the delay and the silence.
From what I have read, I believe that Google/GM/Tesla are all looking to out-Uber Uber. The real prize is changing the way it which we use cars and car ownership in general. I have advised my kids to hang on to their cars until about 2020 as self-driving cars may save them lots of money.
I received an Email on October 22 asking if I'd like to upgrade to AP2.0 and responded yes the same day. It hasn't shown up on "My Tesla" yet, but I'm not surprised. And I was told by my salesperson that there's no cause for concern. I expect that the 5 business day delay to be a reasonable...
There's another way to consider when "Reveal II" will take place: when Tesla needs to go to the market for more equity. $1,000 per car won't come close to the money they need to build the production capacity the market expects.
