Wheel alignment (Tesla or tyre shop?)

Hey guys, I lent my car to my dad while i was overseas, and now the car pulls to the right, do I need to get Tesla service to do the alignment, or can I go to the local tyre shop? I know there's a software alignment in the service menu, and I'm wondering if tyre places tent to have the lifting...

    Model 3 Highland live now

Hi guys, just a heads up, highlands are live now for January delivery on Tesla website. It looks like slight range increases, only RWD and LR for sale, slight price increases and slight styling redesigns inside and out. Nothing to compel me to swap over...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

That's some whacky logic. Those markets are sated, they've had the S and X on sale continuously since 2012. RHD markets haven't had an S or X since Nov 2020, and there was likely plenty of pent up demand. I'm not sure why there is a hardcore element strongly defending an accountant's bad decision.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

You haven't seen one in real life. My old man had a Model S facelift since the end of 2016. I've driven it countless times. To say there is an aesthetic difference is splitting hairs when you see them in real life. There's no way anyone could tell them apart when driving by in real life.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Have you seen one in real life? The difference is indistinguishable.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Having had a good look inside and out of a Plaid Model S two weeks ago at Goodwood, I can tell you chrome delete aside, the Plaid is indistinguishable from the old S. If the widebody kit adds an inch, you can't see it.

    Cybertruck firewall stamping (bad news)

She was senior executive at Telstra. Have you ever dealt with Telstra? It's a disaster of a company, that trades solely on having the best mobile infrastructure. I would question the effectiveness of any executive of that company (and Australia Post). Without a doubt the two worst major...

    Cybertruck firewall stamping (bad news)

The fact that they didn't engineer it with dual controls from the outset does not bode well, given Tesla's history. Other full size trucks are not made natively in RHD either.
  9. B

    Cybertruck firewall stamping (bad news)

Accountant's decisions are not always good business decisions.
  10. B

    Cybertruck firewall stamping (bad news)

Hey guys, bad news, but these pictures of the Cybertruck body have emerged, including the front firewall. Like the updated S and X, there is only one steering column throughput whole. They could engineer a new stamp for RHD markets, but they didn't bother with the updated S and X, and the...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

You've got to be pretty stupid if you believe an auto company executive telling you that people drive on different sides of the road as a form of protectionism. People have been using the left of the road since Roman times. 'Driving' on the left and right predates auto manufacturers by thousands...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

It's all good until you turn up at the broken Charge fox and realise that's why you originally bought a Tesla.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I would say that the entire EQE range isn't competitive on price when you take into account real world range and performance. But I guess in Australia we're no extremely limited for good premium EVs. The Y and 3 have pretty crappy interiors, but I'd argue that as a car the Model Y performance...

Happened to me twice this weekend.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

If they full intended to make the cars, how come the firewalls were stamped without RHD steering column access, like the previous generation and the 3/Y? The initial promise of March 21 delivery for Australian cars was a flat out lie.
  18. B

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

That's super shifty business practice, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised. Almost 3 years and no updates, then a cancellation is bad business and goodwill with their most loyal RHD customers.
  19. B

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

It is a mechanical design issue. Munro did a tear down, and unlike the pre refresh S and X or the 3 and Y, the updated S and X firewalls never had any hardpoints to pass a steering column through. The fact that when Tesla launched these cars they said Australian deliveries would start in March...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Looks like S and X have been cancelled in right hand drive. What a massive slap in the face. Well the X at least. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope for the S, but I doubt it.

Finally - national data on the number of BEVs and Teslas!

Extreme doubtful. BYD isn't even officially imported by BYD in Australia, it's imported by a third party.

    Boombox in Aus?

There's someone about 5 posts down from you that says they have one. And in the other thread too.
  23. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Both S and X have launch control. The electric motors, even on the Performance models, aren't programmed to deliver maximum torque from zero RPM. Launch control, amongst other things, gives a more aggressive torque curve and changes the traction control to allow some slippage.
  24. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Question, does the Model Y Performance have launch control? Pushed the brake and accelerator from stationary, and all that happened is it told me that both pedals were depressed and power was reduced.
  25. B

    Boombox in Aus?

Sorry, it was a guy on the first page of this thread.
  26. B

    Boombox in Aus?

Not sure this is the case, as there are people in the Model Y waiting room thread who have it, and it was activated when they picked it up.
  27. B

    Boombox in Aus?

Picked up a Model Y Performance and no boombox app. Car was built last month, so it's a March 23, and I presume it has the hardware. Has anyone had Tesla service activate the app?
  28. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Anyone who has a MYP delivered recently, does it have the boombox? I've seen some people who have got Model 3s have them, but Model Y? We just picked one up but no sign of the boom box.

Wrong (old) indicator camera after crash repairs

Hi guys, recently had a minor accident and needed some crash repairs, where they replaced my left indicator camera. I know about 2 years ago they swapped over cameras, because of the light bleed. My car originally came with cameras that don't have the light bleed (21 Model 3), but now my...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

They sell every S and X they can make, that's why they haven't even bothered with RHD markets yet. The capacity is 20k, but they sell capacity every quarter, except this quarter is different, because they've started exports to Europe and China, so 10k of that 20k is on the water waiting to be...

Model S S75D for sale, VIC.

Will be trading it in next week, so it's on the market for a week at $66k before we withdraw it from sale. Right now it's the cheapest low mileage AP2 Model S in Australia.

Model Y SR now has AWD in US, when will come to Australia?

It's not a rumour, the SR AWD in the USA does have 4680 batteries. Right now they don't have the energy density of the 2170 cells (hence why it's only offered in SR guise), and weighs the same as the LR. They are very much behind schedule with the 4680 project.

Anyone in Melbourne do adjustable air suspension?

Sorry, but youre plain wrong, and you're asking too much from the car. It is absolutely not an offroad machine.
  34. B

Anyone in Melbourne do adjustable air suspension?

No, not incorrect. I go offroad all the time. You need a purpose built off road vehicle to do so. A Model Y (long range only, as it has awd and doesn't have low profile tyres), doesn't even have an offroad mode in the software. It doesn't have locking diffs, it doesn't have a low range, or...

    Full Self Drive In Australia

I disagree. I think the Polestar 2 is much better looking than a Model 3, but mechanically its far behind.
  36. B

Anyone in Melbourne do adjustable air suspension?

The Model Y is in no way an off road vehicle, and air suspension will not fix that. Currently no off road EVs are available for purchase in Australia, but will be available when Rivian starts exporting.

    Full Self Drive In Australia

In your cars. I've found the 2021+ cars are way less prone to it. Can't explain why.
  38. B

    Full Self Drive In Australia

I've done 25,000km in my Tesla and it's phantom braked 3 times, each when passing a truck that slightly crosses the line. From what I've read, Polestars lane keeping system is nowhere near as good as Teslas.

Model S S75D for sale, VIC.

I've dropped the price to $68k, if it doesn't sell, we'll be trading it in this week. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/tesla-model-s-2016/sse-ad-14568738 Currently the car is priced at about $10k below the 75D average, and is the cheapest low mileage car in Australia. The car itself is...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

You forgot GST. And shipping is in the $3k ballpark, especially when you're shipping hundreds of them. I think the list price of the Plaid will probably be around $210k on the road, before options
  41. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Because they are more efficient. In a 1000km drive the real advantage of a LR/P is the higher initial range, before the first charge, which is maybe 50km difference, if you're lucky. Depending on where the fast charger you use first is located, determines the total journey time.
  42. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

That's not true. Literally 99% of systems marketed as all wheel drive, (haldex) are front wheel drive 99% of them time until the TC detects slippage and engages the clutch to use the rear wheels. If what you say is true, almost no one would call their cars AWD.
  43. B

Model S S75D for sale, VIC.

Hi guys, I've dropped the price to $70k, please DM me if interested. It's the cheapest S75D available in Australia, (and appears to be the cheapest offered on carsales ever according to the price calculator).
  44. B

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Are Tesla allowing swaps from pre orders to inventory right now? Day 1 order on a MYP and identical spec cars are in local inventory. ETA is APR 02 - APR 23, but no vin (hidden or not).

Obvious solution is to unhitch his boat and let it roll off to wherever it lands.

I think all the inventory cars are cancelled orders because HW4 is imminent. Leaks happened a little too early.
