    Lasfit Product Reviews

In terms of follow up, I have to say I'm very pleased with the product. It's stayed in place and completely blends in with the interior of the car. I have made a few marks on them with my right foot, and they wipe away easily. And it sure better than making marks on the car itself. I would...

    Lasfit Product Reviews

LASFIT sent me the side panel kick covers to review. Here are my initial impressions, as I've just installed them today. They come folded in the box. I would recommend laying them out and flexing them in the opposite direction of the fold to allow them to be flatter for installation. I left...

Charge port LED turns on and off

Great info, thanks! Pointless I can live with. I just wasn't sure if it was symptomatic of some problem.

Charge port LED turns on and off

Totally agree with that. But then why does it turn on again for seemingly no reason? I might go into the garage a couple hours after I've parked and plugged in. I saw the light go off when the car locked...but there it is on again! I would think that once the light goes off, it should stay...

Charge port LED turns on and off

I've noticed an interesting behavior with the charge port LED on my MS. When I plug the car in, it turns blue and eventually turns off when the car locks. I've noticed that sometimes when I go into the garage, no keyfob in range, the blue light will be on. I go back a while later and it's off...

Trade in experience/ advice of a ICE for your Tesla

I also traded in an SUV and Tesla's offer was slightly more than CarMax by about $400. As someone said earlier, couldn't have been easier. Drove up in old car with title and both key fobs. Handed them over, and drove away with our sweet Model S. The one thing that I thought was interesting...

    The story so far...

CarMax said that they provide you their offer and they also submit the car info to KBB, who comes back with an offer as well. The CarMax guy presents both offers and they will honor the higher of the two. It's worth trying the USAA service since it's free and you can do it from home. But as I...

    The story so far...

From what I've read, Tesla's trade in offer is typically low-ball and CarMax is better. I researched it online and got estimates from several sites like KBB, Edmunds, even USAA sell-your-car service. The range was about 33-39k for trade-in. CarMax offered 35, but now they also generate a KBB...

    The story so far...

Geeky reference to the law of conservation of mass, as apples to chemistry. Trading one Tesla in that parking spot for another.

Yeah might have been good to mention that, huh? Model S 60D

    The story so far...

TL;DR Two words...Happy Ending ;-) As an avid reader but only occasional poster on this forum for several months, I've learned a wealth of information as I've waited to take my place among the ranks of Tesla owners (huge thanks to the membership!). That day finally came this past Monday...

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

Ah I wish I had your skills...but I do make a killer BBQ brisket.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

You make a fair point. I've always parked the cars in the garage nose first. Maybe because my driveway is a short but slightly steep hill. That probably isn't a showstopper though.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

Our panels are in a utility room where the furnace and water heaters live. The good news is that there is a common wall between this room and the garage back wall, so they would have to come through that wall and then run conduit across the ceiling and then to the front of the garage. FWIW...

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

Oregon does require a permit. The contractor that gave the "flat fee" didn't mention it, but the other one listed it as a separate line item.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

The electrician that made this recommendation was one of the two listed by Tesla...so there wasn't much mystery there, unfortunately.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

I'm pretty sure he said 42 amp, but perhaps he misspoke.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

The other contractor that came by didn't mention it at all. The third, which was another Tesla-listed electrician, said that he does these for a flat fee of $995 and didn't mention anything about the panel.

Installing NEMA 14-50, would appreciate your thoughts

I'm collecting quotes to have a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in our garage. Model S to be coming soon! One of the Tesla-listed contractors came by today. We have 2 200 amp panels, so power isn't a problem. However, he mentioned that he's recommending that, for Tesla installs, residential...

    Experience in Portland, OR?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. My experience in the Washington Square store has been very positive thus far. Folks seem very knowledgeable and not at all pushy. Which, I guess, is one benefit of the "price is the price" model!

    Experience in Portland, OR?

I'm seriously considering a Model S, and am very grateful for the wealth of information that folks have contributed to this forum. It's quite the education! I've read about varying experiences at different Tesla stores and SC's. Does anyone have any experience with Tesla in Portland, OR? I'd...

Questions about trading in a vehicle for our new Model S

When dealing with either Tesla or Carmax for trade-ins, is it wise to have the car detailed first? Does a spiffy-clean car present better and result in a better offer?
