Hertz selling their FSD capable Tesla fleet could go down as one of the dumbest business moves of all time. The other car rental companies not buying one now could go down as another.

If I was buying a Tesla today I'd definitely pay the $12,000 for FSD. And I don't think that price will be dropped. Over the next few years both the monthly rate and the purchase price are going to explode higher. Don't like it? Feel like you missed out? Too bad. Tesla will buy your car...

With all the confusion and turmoil of the past year or two shares are becoming more and more concentrated in the hands of those who actually understand the company and are true believers. This is very good for TSLA in the long term. I think Elon is also very happy to see this happen.

    Tesla Unionization

This isn't about Musk hating unions, it's about unions hating Tesla. If they get in they'll cause problems whenever they can because: EVs - Union leaders around the world have openly called EVs a threat Competition - Tesla is destroying the other car companies, who the unions rely on for...

This year's profits will matter as much to Tesla as 1998 profits mattered to Apple. Destroying the competition right now is what matters. As the EV market matures there will be no new entrants as the barriers to entry become too high, just like happened in the ICE vehicle market. Competition...

I agree with Philippe Houchois of Jefferies - It's time for Tesla to consider cancelling the Cybertruck. Customers are swarming the showrooms gawking and taking pictures and drooling on the floor, which must be very annoying for the staff and cleaners.

I don't think this is right because: 1) It's an event for Cybertruck, not FSD. It's the wrong place for anything more than an FSD announcement, especially given how time consuming it would be to do a bunch of drives a long enough distance to really experience FSD. 2) The question was about...

This is great news. Cruise was turning public opinion against autonomy. Telling Cruise to remove only half their vehicles from the road was insane. That's like the FDA discovering a drug is dangerous and telling the company to sell it to half as many customers to reduce harm.

I'm looking at the earnings transcript and the confusion around the 50% CAGR is easily explained. The questioner actually asked two questions in succession - 1) About the growth rate in 2024, and 2) When Tesla will return to 50% CAGR. The second question doesn't actually make sense because...

I understand Wall Street's reaction. Normally when a CEO talks about a bad economy it's because they're messing up internally. It's inexplicable to them that this CEO could be simply speaking honestly because it just never happens. It's hard to adjust to Tesla's honest earnings calls when...

So Tesla is able to ramp 4680 much faster than experienced cell maker LG can ramp Ultium, which is much easier. How embarrassing for them. Or could it be that GM just doesn't want the ramp to go fast because they don't really want to sell EVs?

Gary would be correct, except he doesn't understand the purpose of the price cuts. If it was just to generate more sales then he would be correct in saying advertising makes more sense. Remember when the Model Y first came out Sandy Munro said it was cheaper to make than a Model 3, so there was lots of room for improvement. With 50% of parts changed, almost all of which were done to reduce cost, I'm guessing new Model 3 is 10-15% cheaper to make than old Model 3.
