Just FYI i had the same error this weekend on my ‘17 MS 90D w/ MCU2, FSD, …. but it came with an actual loss of power steering. It was a full-on brown stain moment while turning a corner the wheel jerked out of my hand w/ Power Steering failed and i almost slammed into another car in the...
Hi all - I live in Vermont and need some service on my '17 Model S. To my surprise today when I opened up the app to schedule the service, the top recommended location was in Quebec at Saint Bruno Premenades.
God knows I miss visiting Quebec and would love an excuse to test out our mutual new...
I am seeing the exact same thing - I upgraded to MCU2 / AP3 a few weeks ago and have had my driver-side IC go black / reboot a number of times. It causes some beeping / alarming when I’m on autopilot when it happens, but it hasn’t forced a disengage at least.
I was also having problems with a...
I just did this trip - NY to way upstate in WI (thru Milwaukee). If you have an Apple Notes account I’m happy to share a link to our trip planning and notes. The PA -> OH -> IN corridor is mostly convenience store / truck stop locations that were all open for a quick bathroom break or to pick...
Has it been verified that this is actually possible with current cars built in North America without modifications to the charging system in the car? I had heard that this was possible in Europe spec cars, but would not be possible for NA?
It looks like this particular one is from Korea - if...
We had our first drive-in movie last night post-MCU2 upgrade for my ‘17 MS, so it was “do or die” time.
Can’t say it was the most acoustically perfect cinema experience, but it worked in a pinch:
Now THAT is interesting... Mine definitely stayed on for days at a time previously. I wonder if in the past I had something that was preventing my Model S from going to sleep... I do use teslafi, but that isn’t something that changed. My MCU1 was in a pretty lousy state of reliability before...
Is the “always-on” power behavior in the center console ports somehow different for MCU2 cars?
I just upgraded from MCU1 / AP2 to MCU2 / AP3 (HAPPILY!) but since the upgrade the items powered off my center console are all shutting off sometime after I leave the car.
In my ‘17 Model S I have...
Thanks for all of the creative ideas here - I’ll be ordering an old galaxy S9 to try out - but for this weekend it’ll be a battery powered boom box. I’ll pass on here how effectively the S9 works over Bluetooth - i suspect the audio/video sync may be impossible to fix though (i can’t delay the...
On the one device issue, for my personal use case, i think that’s fine. Honestly i very rarely care about FM - but we do need it when we go to the drive-in movie (the only kind we go to anymore....). So if i had something that could pair to the car, I’d be happy to disconnect my phone when...
Hi - I have tried to digest the hundreds of posts in the MCU2 upgrade threads but can’t quite find any solid answers here...
Has anyone found an FM tuner of any kind that can broadcast over Bluetooth to our car stereo? I assume it would need to pair with our car as a phone connection to play...
My car has been in now for many days - I suspect a similar issue. They say that the hardware updates are done, but that they are having trouble with the firmware upgrade. They pushed my completion date from Friday -> Saturday -> today -> tomorrow. We’ll see.
Just stopped at this supercharger on our trip from NY to northern WI — I just want to add her that this is a great location. The newly renovated (or maybe built?) Hilton Garden Inn has a wonderful restaurant and bar and is a great modern design. If you walk out the south driveway and then...
I had some time to kill so I tested out all of the stalls after my experience with a dead one a couple of weeks ago.
It looks like the (4) stalls on the west side are not working, but all of the other (8) are working fine. I was pulling 145 kW in my Model S 90D today which is quite good for my...
Dorky to quote myself, but to follow up - I had the appointment for my ‘17 MS scheduled for this Wednesday 5/13. Service called this morning and:
1) Confirmed my VIN is now eligible for the MCU2/AP3 upgrade (yes!)
2) Confirmed that the service would replace: Center display and MCU, the...
I have a Feb ‘17 Model S90D with AP2 (and FSD) with MCU1. With the update to the website, I scheduled an MCU2 / AP3 upgrade for later this week at my local service center. Fingers crossed - I’ll follow up here.
The last charger on the end (west) doesn’t seem to work - it won’t start charging. They’re not numbered unfortunately. I moved to another spot and had no problem charging.
Consistent with the other the commenters here - it definitely varies.
I have a 1Q2017 Model S90D and have used teslafi.com's logging and visualization services since about 2 months into ownership (2k miles or so). Highly recommended if you want to get gorpy with your car's data.
The 90D...
I know this thread is getting long, but I figured I should add in my most recent experience with this issue. Feb '17 build S90D bought new with air suspension.
Two years ago, in March '18 (1 year old @26k miles) after reporting severe front suspension noise, they successfully mitigated by...
This is really going to be a fantastic site.
- Just off I-84, -- literally 60 seconds from the exit if the lights behave.
- Off to one side of the parking lot with easy access - backing in should be easy because it's not in the middle of traffic like some frustrating supercharger setups...
I don't want to flood this with daily updates or anything, but in the last 48 hours there has been a ton of progress. Sorry for the potato quality - I was driving by when I snapped these.
Looks like they have about 5 of the stalls installed, and they're doing quite a bit of the wiring box work.
Unfortunately my browser is still DOA after the update - 2017 Model S, AP2, MCU1.
I did notice a significant improvement in regenerative braking on my drive into the office this morning though - so ++ there.
Interesting (and painfully) - that drop/blip is actually ~2 month period where my Tesla sat in a body shop waiting for some parts from Tesla for a trunk repair... The car battery actually ran to dead during that period of time (long story - they had the back end entirely apart including the...
I have a February 2017 build S90D with 73k miles, located in the northeast US. Degradation has been pretty reasonable vs. my expectations - 100% range is now 278 miles vs. starting range at 298 = ~7% degredation.
I have a local body shop that is excellent - BUT in the future will only use them for minor work on my Tesla.
- If a local shop needs parts, Tesla is AWFUL about servicing them. Those stories of 3-6 month waits for basic parts? All real. I waited 3 months for some front fascia parts after a...
Hi - essentially every morning on my ‘17 Model S 90D lately I get in to the above error message for the first 10-20 minutes of driving.
As the error message says, when I try to adjust the air suspension, i just see a swirling circle in the UI indicating that it’s having some sort of difficulty...
Thanks! We continued on our way without any problems - I hope it was just a lousy combination of circumstances.
The 72A charger was a splurge upgrade - we have a March '17 S90D but we had the circuit in the garage so figured "why not?" It has been a great perk "a few" times - like this one! -...
All chargers offline this morning - causing quite a challenge for a family road trip! The chargers still show as “online” in the car navigation system, but when I called Tesla roadside, they say “yes, we see that all have been offline for an hour or so.” Well thanks for guiding me here Nav...
Very encouraging! I saw on youtube that it's not too difficult to pop the frunk and accessing the 12v terminals so I'm optimistic we can avoid a flatbed! Hopefully it wasn't drained too long to do any real battery damage (good lord it's a pain dealing with months of parts delays!)
THANKS...
Hi - looking for some guidance on what I might expect and how to address...
My car suffered some rear end damage and has been in service (waiting for parts....) for 3 months. Long story for another day - suffice it to say after a few years of Model S ownership I'm still in love with the car...
Well crud - no go unfortunately at this point. The right front wheel is definitely rubbing on part of the inside of the wheel well. It’s not the tire thought, it’s the inside of the rim. Here’s a picture after taking the tire off after hearing it rub when pulling forward
It looks like it...
Thanks everyone for the feedback - it give me hope! I’m going to just jack the car myself in my driveway and get a sense of the fit. Maybe the installer was just conservative. He freaked out at me initially when I pulled out the wheels/tires and pointed out that the sticker in the wheel well...
Well that sure would explain things... I followed the tirerack recommendation for the 21s to buy, but probably should have double checked. I'll check that out later today.
I have a 2017 MS 90D that came with the stock 19" wheels/tires. I have been changing them every season between winters and summers (in NY) without any issues.
This spring I decided to get a second set of wheels / tires to make the process easier every season and went with some recommended...
This is a great flow chart and is just the information I was looking for! Thank you for posting this!
I guess the only remaning question I have is whether or not I will require some sort of hardware upgrade to enable “D” on my 2017 90D AP2 car. In the meantime, I’ll keep using “C” happily...
I am still a bit baffled as to what buying a FSD upgrade actually means.
I have a 2017 90D Model S w/ AP2 EAP at delivery. I do now see the $2000 upgrade to FSD in mytesla account page.
If I buy this, is there a hardware upgrade required? Is it purely software? I’m looping around threads...
Hi - just wanted to close out my experience with this issue for posterity.
Service diagnosed my issue as a bad modem card. They replaced the "connectivity board" and SIM card under warranty:
Well this place is pretty ICEd up today. It may be particularly bad now because of the fair that is happening near the mall - 5 of the 10 spots had ICE cars parked in them. And for the hour or so I was in the mall, none of them left so they were there to stay for awhile... It may be...
Hi all - just an interim followup. My issues with the intermittent LTE connection have continued - turning my cellular Apple Watch off (and using airplane mode) didn’t seem to improve the issue. I have an appointment in with my local service center next week and will follow up here on any...
I have a 2017 Model S 90D that has developed a serious LTE connectivity problem (roughly 50% no-service) over the last month or so. It’s tough to timeline it to any particular event, but I would say that two things happened around the same time that I started noticing this:
1) I upgraded to...
