New ‘23 Model X, long term Tesla owner. Some questions…

What was wrong with leaving systems in place that worked? Remember the rain sensing wiper fiasco? Simple rain sensors have been on 15,000 VW’s for years that work almost perfect, but not so on a $100k Tesla, cuz Tesla knows a better way to do it. Same with ultrasonic sensors that have been...

Long time Tesla owner with a few questions about the New Model X

What in the world was wrong with leaving the damn turn signal stalk that has been tried, trued, proven, and is on virtually every other car being made? Oh sure, I’m certain I will “get used to it” and then I get in one of my several other vehicles and have to “get used to the old way” again. I...

Long time Tesla owner with a few questions about the New Model X

Hi guys, I’ve owned 4 Tesla’s, a ‘16 MX, ‘18 MS, ’20 M3, and a ’21 MS. I’ve been away from Tesla for a couple years (Lucid for the last year) and have a few questions about the ’23 MX. I see you can get a steering wheel again (hated my friend’s MS with a Yoke) but if I’m understanding it...

    2022 Refresh differences?

And a new charge port, and possibly changes to the ultrasonic and radar sensors, and maybe a swiveling screen, etc. etc. Call it whatever the hell you want, I'm just trying to see if anybody ACTUALLY KNOWS, when and what the differences REALLY are...

    2022 Refresh differences?

Sorry, since this is the S forum, I assumed everyone would know I meant the S. I’m not talking about the 2021 interior refresh, I’m talking about the 2022 refresh that just happened roughly a month or two ago. From what I can find it was headlights for sure, not overly clear on what else.

    2022 Refresh differences?

I searched the forum and can’t find a definitive answer, the delivery specialist said “about a month ago”. Does anybody know for sure WHEN Tesla made the 2022 design changes and WHAT exactly ARE those changes?

    Unique Sale Possibility '22 Plaid

I agree with you, I don't feel I'm acting in bad faith at all. I've been in a similar situation with an LTV motorhome I was trying to find. Ordering a new one is literally a 2 year wait, so I found a used one at a pretty good price to see if I actually like the unit. I purchased it and liked...

    Unique Sale Possibility '22 Plaid

This will be my 5th Tesla, some I sold after a few months, some I sold after a year. I wouldn't really think Tesla would black list me if I sell it after a week or two, but who knows? I guess if they do, all the more reason to try out Brand X, which does look pretty dang interesting on the...

    Unique Sale Possibility '22 Plaid

I'll be damned, I've never read the fine print. I certainly didn't order this car with the intention of reselling it. Way back when I ordered it in 2020 it was a Plaid + with a regular steering wheel. Tesla substantially changed the order on me, which of course they "can" do because they're...

    Unique Sale Possibility '22 Plaid

I guess I'm confused how Tesla can stop me from buying the car and selling it someone else? I'm not trying to sell my reservation or anything. I will buy the car and turn around and sell it. Since I'm in Montana there is no sales tax and such to deal with.
  11. P

    Unique Sale Possibility '22 Plaid

So I'm one of those guys who put money down on a Plaid + when it was announced. As most of you know, Tesla changed my order to a Plaid. I've been putting it off for quite some time and now Tesla just built a Plaid for me that is sitting on the ground waiting to be delivered. I'm not sure why...

Best place to sell Model S

Am I dreaming or did there used to be a for sale section on these forums? I’m thinking about selling my ‘21 Model S Performance FSD and when I check autotrader and car gurus there are like 3 in a 500 mile radius, Facebook Market place has none. Where is a good place that you guys have had the...

    72 amp charging?

Well Hell! I miss being able to charge at the faster speeds at my office. Sigh... Hopefully with the size of the battery the Plaid is going to require, they will go back to 72amp charging...

    72 amp charging?

For awhile it was not an “option” My 2018 MS100D came with 72amp charging standard. My new MS100PD (equivalent, I realize it’s now LR) not only didn’t come with it, but I couldn’t order it as an option. Hence why I said they cheapened out on it. As I understand it, the charging consists of...

    72 amp charging?

I saw this discussed awhile ago but couldn’t find definitive results. Since Tesla cheapened out and no longer include 72amp charging on their “100 battery” models, does anybody know if you can add the additional charger and how much it costs for doing so? Thanks!

    Problem with “Depart at” charging

It used to work in my M3, but with the last update, I’ve tried it twice and it failed twice. I just picked up my ‘21 MS Monday, I haven’t tried the departure yet. I don’t use peak rates as it doesn’t apply in Montana, maybe it’s still trying to use them and that’s what’s messing me up?
  17. P

    Scheduled Departure no longer working

Interestingly enough, I just picked up my new ‘21 Model S Ludicrous on Monday and it has the same “bad” at the end of the software version. I’ve noticed a few things a little screwy with it, but so far I really like it. I have not tried scheduled departure with it yet to know if it works...

    Scheduled Departure no longer working

I definitely have it set right. It used to work pretty well before the latest update. Something I’ve never seen, my version is v10.2 (2020.48.30 040912887bad). Has anybody seen it literally say “bad” at end like that?
  19. P

    Scheduled Departure no longer working

So it seems for me at least the last update screwed up the scheduled departure. I had it set for 4:30am to 100% charge, at 5am it was only 80%. That’s not even close! And really sucks because it screws up the routing on my trip. Anybody else seeing similar results?

    FSD Price Change?

I hear ya... I’ve paid for “FSD” on two of my earlier Tesla’s, neither of which ended up with much “FSD”. LOL. Didn’t bother on the M3, I do miss a few of the things like being able to change lanes on auto pilot but ya, wasn’t really worth it. Now that it seems it’s actually coming along into...

    FSD Price Change?

Ok, that must be it. I knew there was a 1k discount, I could have sworn it applied to new vehicle purchases as well, but I couldn’t find it when I ordered a new Model S yesterday. The upgrade discount is no longer there either. App on my phone shows $10k to upgrade to FSD. Thanks!
  22. P

    FSD Price Change?

It absolutely was there roughly a month or two ago. Typical Tesla. LOL
  23. P

    FSD Price Change?

Did the $1,000 discount on FSD for previous Tesla owners go away?
  24. P

    Current interest rates Dec. 2020

Does anybody know of any promotional rates at credit unions, etc. going on right now? Tesla is listing 2.49% but doesn't finance in Montana

    Snippiness 2.0

I charged to 90% because I still had slightly more than 200 miles to go in my trip and there are NO superchargers between Helena and Kalispell, MT. I arrived with about 30 miles of range left and the warning “I need to charge soon....” So ya, I suppose I could have charged to 85% and arrived...

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

Okay, so let me stir the pot a little more. LOL but seriously, I see several of you justifying that supercharging is more expensive than driving an ICE because of electricity demand charges etc. I’m certainly not going to argue that. But I do question it from the standpoint of trying to migrate...

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

Then the 121 gallons of diesel I put in my Coach this afternoon in Colorado @ $1.76 per gallon will really make you cry. But I will admit supercharging the Model 3 IS cheaper than fueling the 605hp beast.
  28. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

    Well said, Adam, well said.
  29. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

So at $2.25 gas that equates out to exactly 30mpg. Which further proves my point. Was that mostly supercharging?
  30. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

Oh and for those curious the lifetime average for my car at 7,038 miles equates to 32mpg using the same calculations. So the first part of the trip was abnormally high consumption. Who knows why, The second part was pretty accurate. So let me rephrase: Driving ANY ICE vehicle that gets over...
  31. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

On the way back using the same calculations it equates to 30.1 mpg at $2.25 / gallon fuel. Still would have been cheaper to drive my Turbo Jetta at 38mpg. So, it’s STILL cheaper to drive an ICE than to supercharge. That really is all that I am saying. (No, the turbo Jetta isn’t as fast as the...
  32. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

Clue??? LOL! FACT! How do you charge at home when you are traveling more than ~250 miles??? (yes, I know if the first “tank full” was done at home at a cheaper charging rate divided into how many “tank fulls” you have to fill with supercharging divided by the lower cost of charging at your...

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

Sir, it appears you just want to argue, have at it, but it will be with someone else. The term “commuting” is something YOU brought up and is actually quite irrelevant to my point that supercharging is more expensive than driving an ICE vehicle. Like you said, “as someone who owns so many...
  34. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

I’m not worried about the cost as in I can’t afford it. I’m just surprised supercharging is more expensive than driving my pickup. My MX and MS both had free supercharging so this is the first time I’ve experienced the cost and it shocked me. I can understand what others have said regarding...
  35. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

LOL, and this is about typical. I’m not arguing about charging at home being cheaper, I’m not arguing about performance. If I was I would say my twin turbo Mercedes and my supercharged Corvette are both right there or better. The Mercedes and the Vette are both upper 20’s for fuel mileage, so...
  36. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

I didn’t look at the kWh charge, I’m simply going by two facts. One, I drove 140 miles and two, it cost me $14.56 to top off to the same 90% charge I left with. This Model 3 isn’t overly efficient compared to my Model S. I’ve never achieved rated range in the 3 or my MX, the MS would regularly...
  37. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

$14.56 / $2.25 = 6.47. ie $14.56 would buy 6.47 gallons of fuel at $2.25 per gallon. 140 miles / 6.47 gallons is 21.63 mpg. I rounded down to 21.5mpg. I exaggerated by .1mpg. In other words, my math is accurate.
  38. P

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

I thought Tesla said they wouldn’t make the superchargers a profit center? After paying $14.56 for driving 140 miles from home charger to Supercharger and topping off, I realized it would have been cheaper to drive my pickup. At the current cost of fuel which is $2.25 per gallon here this...

    Helena, MT Supercharger

Hi, the Tesla website shows the Helena, MT supercharger is installed, but I don't want to get caught there tomorrow on my way to Kalispell and it not be up and running. Can somebody verify for me that they have been there and it is functional? I can't make the 300mile trip from Bozeman to...

Current onboard charger in S and X?

This is REALLY disappointing to hear! The 72amp charging in the Model S will be sorely missed for me. My '18 100D would charge at 35mph at home (48amps) and 53mph at my office (72amps) My LR Model 3 will charge at 46mph (48amps) so not a huge decrease from what my Model S was, but I'm about...

Is Anyone receiving Jeda charger orders? COVID-19

I wondered if it might be held up since they are introducing the 15w charging pad. Would be nice if they send me the 15w model, especially considering they’ve had my money for 6 weeks.

Is Anyone receiving Jeda charger orders? COVID-19

Hi guys, I put COVID-19 in the title so people can skip over it next year if this shows up in a search about the Jeda chargers. 3/27/20 I placed an order with Jeda after a recommendation from a fellow forum member, seemed like it and the USB hub would be great additions. Jeda immediately...

    Wireless charging pad question

I really appreciate the info, after looking at it, that hub is pretty slick too! With that bundle discount I paid slightly more than I did for just the Tesla charger, but it's worth it if it works, the Hub is just a bonus. Thanks!

    COVID-19 Social Distancing Trip

Barely making 260 miles starting out with 310 rated is VERY concerning to me! And it sounds like you were taking precautions to try and stretch your miles and driving in fairly ideal weather and geographical conditions. My X would rarely if ever come close to rated miles. My S on the other...

    Wireless charging pad question

My case is pretty much identical to the Apple leather cases (had a few of them on past iPhones) I just prefer the look and feel of this Alcantara case, but as far as size and thickness go, it’s all but the same as the Apple case. My daughter’s iPhone X doesn’t work either unless you take the...
