So I tried camping in the car for one night......

From your icon it appears you have a Model 3 as do we. I how I wish I'd kept our Model S P85. I think you would have had more room in an S. Not sure about the noise though. Down here in Hotlanta you need AC more than heat.

    No Yoke

When 3 first came out I had to have one. We traded our 2013 Model S P85 for RWD 3. I so much wish we had kept the S and decided which if not both to keep. I'm in severe Model S withdrawal but simply can't get past the yoke. I'm so close to going with a performance Y but I miss the panache...

Stategy for Lack of Spare Tire on Model S

Here is what usually happens in the real world. This happened to us a few years back in my brother in laws MB, please forgive me but he did work for Exxon until retirement. You are driving along and run over a piece of road debri similar to what happened to the Concorde SST. A can of goo and an...

    Floor mats

I do want the weather tech type floor mats. I already have the front and rear trunk trays obviously manufactured by Weather Tech but purchased from Tesla Store. I keep checking on the Tesla and Weather Tech web sites for them but no joy. We have them in all our, hate to use the expression ICE...

Heater and air conditioning on the model s

I see folks Supercharging on a hot day with their windows down. I'm guessing that allowing cooling system to concentrate on batteries they are hoping to speed up Supercharging? Does this work? Maybe they just want fresh air?

Model 3 Gripes 2 Months later

I think the charging road is a bit far fetched. The batteries in our iphone 8's seems to finally be fairly decent. Wireless charging is also very convenient, have you tried it? We have several wireless devices at home and the two in the Model 3 and really like the convenience plus the lightning...

Blog Tesla to Offer Turbine Wheels Seen on Model 3 Prototype

I suggested that Tesla offer a third wheel option several weeks ago. I suggest that the turbines be in 18" at zero to minimal additional cost. We have sport wheels on our 3 and love them, but Tesla should offer a low to no cost option to aero which can be polarizing. The car is incredible and...

Model 3 Gripes 2 Months later

To update my post #88 I have now switched the wireless chargers for our iphone 8's to Fastpad. These are thinner, look much better and no longer would require adding the wood to prevent the phones falling down. I do miss the pilot light on the clunkier triangular chargers but this is a much...

New oak interior decor in configurator

In our experience of driving Tesla for 4 years and taking a few road trips we have found most Tesla owners whom we have met at Superchargers to be "one big happy family". Like on a plane some owners want to talk more than others. For the most part we all share our love for our cars and the...

    Accident at Oxnard Supercharger Site

When I posted this comment it was only made in jest and only since no one was hurt. I actually researched it a little more bringing up the Oxnard SC on Google Earth. It appears that the white truck somehow got in the space between the guard rail and the large parking lot where the SC is located...

    Accident at Oxnard Supercharger Site

No doubt the Tesla bashers will find a way to blame Tesla. Like Tesla should not have located their Supercharger site there.

Model 3 Gripes 2 Months later

Addressing number 7 wireless phone charging. We have always used iphones so I'm not as familiar with android phones but do understand that they adopted wireless charging long before Apple. The only iphones that can be wirelessly charged are 8 and X. Wireless charging was a feature that many...

Model 3 Gripes 2 Months later

As a Tesla supporter and owner I would like to respond to your complaints one by one since you have so many issues. Addressing 2 first. When one places a reservation for Model 3, Tesla makes it very clear that you cannot sell or otherwise transfer the reservation. Previous Tesla owners are given...

Model 3 Traffic Aware Cruise/Autopilot touchscreen controls

As you probably know by now the latest update around 4/14 did make the right side steering wheel roller switch control TAC speed changes as well as spacing between cars.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

In reply to Economite reference to professionals doing the testing, is he referring to the Uber "safety driver" who was clearly texting or surfing the web at the time of impact? If we follow such logic we would all be drinking cold coffee because one person out of a billion burned themselves...

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

Let's get a few facts straight. The accident where the pedestrian was struck and killed was an Uber test car NOT Tesla. The so called safety driver was clearly not doing his/her job. The Uber car was using LIDAR a technology that Tesla does not support. Tesla was faced with a dilemma in the...

For those who are a little hesitant to pull the trigger, what are some of your concerns?

AUSinator: Regarding the HUB (?HUD) having driven ours for 3 weeks, I see no need for a HUD. The screen is so close by and easy to see that IMHO a HUD would be redundant. As I have said before if Tesla can produce Model 3's for 35K expect to see a lot of these on the road. It handles, rides...

    Locked Charge Port Adapter

This is what forums are all about. I had downloaded, printed and read the owners manual cover to cover while awaiting delivery but don't recall any mention of this cable release. Now I have shared this "emergency" procedure with family members. BTW I like the 295 mile charge with room to go. We...

    Fremont delivery - car refused

Well said. I recently returned from watching one of Elon's other projects lift off from Cape Canaveral at precisely 4:30pm Monday afternoon.

    Fremont delivery - car refused

Another option to climbing over the console if door handle does not extend and I presume your P90D was an S, would be to reach over and pull the inside door handle. On the S the inside handle will bypass the electronic door mechanism and open the door manually.

    Fremont delivery - car refused

Your experience certainly has been very different from mine. For a Tesla service person to make a comment like that is very surprising to me based on my experience over the last 3 years. Enjoy your Mercedes S class.

    Fremont delivery - car refused

Your experience is very similar to mine during the three years of Tesla ownership. When I first bought our preowned 2013 S P85 it only had one key fob. I went to Tesla SC and planned to purchase two key fobs. The man said "Do you own an iphone? Then you don't need two key fobs." I can use the...

    Fremont delivery - car refused

Well we had our S for 3 years/40,000 miles during which time we only had two minor problems both of which were fixed quickly and under warranty. Do you own a Tesla or just base your opinions on what you read?

    Fremont delivery - car refused

In contradistinction to his experience our Midnight Silver Model 3 which we have now had for one week was pretty much perfect. In fact it was perfect. I always make sure the delivery people know not to power buff my car. We have really enjoyed the car and only slightly miss our 2013 P85 which...

Video: Standard 9V Battery vs Model 3 Frunk

And how do you know "manual is flat out incorrect"? Certainly sounds like a good idea to prevent someone from opening the frunk except when 12 volt battery dead. Maybe this was a new update that this person's car does not have yet.

Video: Standard 9V Battery vs Model 3 Frunk

Probably so. I remember little 9 volt devices you could plug in cig lighter when changing main battery on ICE cars to preserve radio presets. I'm just very cautious. I have a chademo adapter but hesitant to try it on our new Model 3 until Tesla gives the official ok for the Model 3. to try it.

Video: Standard 9V Battery vs Model 3 Frunk

Opening the frunk allows access to the 12 volt battery which can be charged (I would disconnect before charging) or replaced.

Video: Standard 9V Battery vs Model 3 Frunk

According to the owner's manual which I am reading cover to cover in preparation for our Model 3 any day now, it states on page 15 that if the car's onboard 12v battery has power applying power to the external wires will not open frunk. Did you disconnect the onboard battery to do this...

Tesla Model 3 Down: Won't Power Up, and is Inaccessible

When we purchased our 2013 P85 from a non Tesla dealer - I know, I know, it was completely dead. The dealer was clueless (kept chaning key fob batteries to no avail) but I having read everything Tesla, knew about removing the nose cone to access the 12 volt battery terminals. The computer had...

    Slow Supercharging

I purchased a CHAdeMo adapter almost two years ago to add more options for long distance travel. When I have tested it at an EVgo site nearby I found it charges at about 2/3 Supercharger speeds. I believe most Nissan dealerships have CHAdeMo and most seem ok letting Tesla's use them. Of course...

    Slow Supercharging

We just completed our second road trip in our 2013 P85 with 40K miles. Only had slow supercharging at one of five SC's we used either going or coming from ATL to NC Outer Banks, approx 500 miles. On return trip we stopped at Burlington NC which we had skipped on the trip up. This SC is numbered...
