Is worth to order FSD now?

I’m ordering the FSD today. I initially had it order to come with it but had to strip it out to qualify for the new NJ $5000 electric vehicle rebate. If I look at it that way the FSD is only $2000 net after rebate. My first impression of the car is that it’s much bigger than the 3. I didn’t...

Is worth to order FSD now?

Thanks! Not what I wanted to hear, but pretty much what I suspected. In keeping with the crux of the thread I’d say the FSD is definitely worth it. I don’t want to pay $7K for it but after having the lane change feature on the first two cars I’m lost without it. Like they say, it’s not what...

Is worth to order FSD now?

I just took delivery of my Model Y and this is causing me some confusion. I have a 2015 MS; 2nd gen AP, and it will execute driver Initiated lane changes. I have a FSD M3 and it will do both driver Initiated and auto lane changes depending on the level of automation I have engaged. My new Model...

    1st Roadside Assistance Experience

I live on the opposite coast in NJ and your situation is eerily similar to mine. I got a pressure warning and was just able to pull into my employee parking lot as the pressure reached zero. I called roadside assist and they were very accommodating and would have a repair team to my location in...

    Winter Driver: Extremely hazardous

First off, I think you are exhibiting an Americanized view in your observation that 29 degrees above "sub zero". As another post mentioned "sub zero" is merely another term for winter. If you go by the Centegrade scale "0" is 32 degrees Fahrenheit and I think that is a better reference for what...

    Model 3 Weird Smell

When it is very cold, I have just an initial faint smell that is normal for electric heat. It goes away within a couple of minutes as the heat stabilizes.

My M3 vs my MS...the revolution is underway

When the day arrives that we have the Tesla app for the Apple Watch it should alleviate the need to take out your phone.

My M3 vs my MS...the revolution is underway

Interesting note about the key fob in an earlier post. It’s obviously a matter of personal preference but I love not having to carry my keys anymore. I love the app and have had no failures with it. The key card for valet parking has been seamless as well.

how come no one talks about gas anxiety?

800 miles is great but unfortunately, my internal tank has to be emptied every 250 miles so I have to stop anyway. I'm sure everyone here has had bathroom anxiety. :(

My M3 vs my MS...the revolution is underway

How can you disagree? You've not owned or regularly driven an M3 so you have no point of comparison. Not one comment here has been negative toward the MS, only that especially for the price, we prefer our 3's. I've had my S for almost 3 years and my M3 for 2 months. To this point, the only 2...

how come no one talks about gas anxiety?

I think maybe I've matured a bit since I've started driving my Tesla's. We occasionally take a road trip to Stamford CT which in my MS always required a bit of a charge up to get back home. This past weekend we took our new M3 for the first time and expected we could go round trip without the...

    S/3 Comparo -- Driven Back-to-Back-to-Back

I had the thought of trading my Model S 70D for an AWD M3 ever since I got my Model 3 but it hadn’t crystallized until I read your post. Now I’ve got some thinking to do.

    Auto Hi Beams

Tomorrow is my one month anniversary with my Model 3. It has vastly exceeded my expectations but the one item I miss from my Model S are the auto Hi Beam Headlights. I'm not sure if it is possible to upgrade this via software and have not read anywhere if Tesla plans to make the change. The car...

    Cancelling my reservation

I think this totally misses the point. Tesla can and will produce a $35K version of the Model 3 but many if not most of the potential buyers will choose not to buy it. I’ve had my Model 3 for 3 weeks and my Model S for 2.5 years. My conclusion is that I would not buy another S. The 3 is just too...

    Snow Flake Icon

Thanks PoitNarf, the article answered my question. @Snow Drift, the two cars sit in the garage side by side so I assume it is the Model S battery heater that is the difference. I also notice that the regen braking is limited for a much longer time on the Model 3.

    Snow Flake Icon

Does anyone know where I can find any documentation for the snow flake icon on the battery status page? I’ve had my Model S for 3 winters and never seen it but have already seen it twice on my Model 3 in the first three weeks. I know it is cold temperature related but would like to know exactly...

PSA: If you installed charging station in 2017, you're eligible now for 30% tax credit

Good old AMT; when I bought my first Tesla I had the same experience. I got the $7500 credit for the car but AMT wiped out the credit for the wall unit. Now I just got my Model 3 and I’ll again get the $7500 for the car but the two 2nd gen wall units I installed in December will be nullified by...

First thoughts on my Model 3 vs. my Model S

@Andrew - Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll check it out. Having said that, after driving the car for a couple of weeks it has become a non issue. I just had to get accustomed to it’s handling a little sportier than my “S”. As you said, maybe getting a little wear on the tires may have helped as well.

Does Anyone Like Their Model S More Than Their Model 3?

I agree with all of your assesments above. The handles were widely complained about but in real life are a non issue. On the glass tinting, it is almost a rose color on the outside. I had mine opti coated and with the rose colored raindrops beaded on the roof it’s a very cool optic. Again...

Does Anyone Like Their Model S More Than Their Model 3?

@AUSinator If the takeaway you got from the thread was that the M3 has a harsh ride your preconceived bias got in the way of your reading. I have a Model S without air suspension and a M3. The M3 ride is sportier and more nimble but far from harsh. After driving it for a week I'm not sure I even...

Does Anyone Like Their Model S More Than Their Model 3?

I honestly can't decide. There are things I like about both. I have yet to drive one and then immediately get in and drive the other. I think that is what I'm going to have to do to make a final decision. The M3 has grown on me over time.

    Model 3 Backup Camera Sucks

I don’t see any backup lines so I assume you just selected the rear camera. Is the picture quality the same if you shift into reverse? Does anyone know if the algorithm is different when you are actually backing up vs just looking back?

    Model 3 Backup Camera Sucks

After a few days with our new Model 3, my wife raves about how much she likes the rear camera. I’m not sure if it is personal preference or if there is a fair amount of deviation from one car to the next. To me it is slightly brighter than the camera on our Model S. I can’t see as one is...

First thoughts on my Model 3 vs. my Model S

I took delivery this afternoon of my new Model 3, Vin # 3813, in Springfield NJ. I also own a 2015 70D Model S. I've driven it about 60 miles on the trip home. I won't give as in-depth an evaluation as the one above but do have some very preliminary initial impressions. The delivery process...

    Wiki Model 3 delivery estimator

One of my referrals purchased a Model S in December 2018. He had a Model 3 reservation for over a year with a mid 2018 delivery estimate. He got his invitation to configure last week, less than a month after the Model S purchase. It looks like he moved up at least 6 months due to the purchase.

Can't leave car at airport... battery dies

I'm an airline employee and leave my car in the employee lot 3 days at a time 3 to 4 times per month. Temps have ranged from minus 20 to 100 degrees over the past 2 years. I lose on average 5 miles per day in warm weather and never more than 10 even in the extreme cold.

Vendor Opti-Coat Advanced Protection for Tesla Vehicles

I've owned a Model S for 2.5 years and have around 40,000 mikes on it. I had it Opti-coated immediately after delivery. I work as a pilot for a major airline and drive it to work each trip. It sits in the employee parking lot for 3 days, 3 to 4 times each month. Directly adjacent to the employee...
