There is a 12v source in the left footwell of the driver's side for a trailer brake controller. You can get the pigtail from Tesla for less than $5. It has a 12v and ground right on it. Then you don't actually have to tap into anything, it was already meant for this purpose of powering the brake controller. Enjoy!!

The part number is 1072586-00-A. I had to go into the service center and talk to parts and grab it. My SC had one in stock.

The 12v switched wire I tap is on VCRight. It's switched, so it turns off when I leave the car. And I don't need a relay. Currently, that wire powers my radar detector and GoPro. it's shown in this video:
