2013 Model S - HV Battery Failure - Service no longer offering upgrades or new battery replacements

Has any one heard of this new policy not to sell HV Battery other than the original size on the car? I got a service replacement for invoice for 15K for a 60Kwh battery.

Bummer...
What new policy? I thought this has always been true, especially for a S60. There are a few exceptions like putting a 90 kW pack into an S85, as the S85 pack is no longer made. As far as I'm aware, Tesla has never installed 100 kW packs into cars that originally had smaller batteries, partly because the connectors are entirely different. It's not plug-and-play. Now outside of Tesla, others have done various modifications to move packs between cars, so that may be one option.

Battery capacity is measured in kWh, not kW.

They're different, but not entirely different.
They can be swapped out with the new connectors pretty easily making it PNP.
I had my 85kWh battery replaced with a newer 100kWh battery in one afternoon.
No reason Tesla couldn't do the same. They just choose not to.

This is right on. Now they choose to add $4500 on top of the $18K for a new battery replacement. This after sending numerous emails to many service "friends" allowing for the swap.

Now looking to sell or third pary repair options. Know anyone in the San Diego area?
