[2014] Consumer Reports verdict on Tesla: average reliability, no worries

Just saw Consumer Reports posted their update on Tesla reliability. Over 1300 owners answered. Key points:
1. Minor issues for most consumers
2. Reliability improving
3. Predicted reliability = average
4. Reliability similar or better than other luxury cars such as Mercedes S-class or Cadillac XTS.

I thinks this puts reliability speculations at rest. Can't wait to get mine delivered....

Okay now I am confused. I thought CR just rated Model S reliability worse than average? Now this CR video says it is "average" and in fact better than the Mercedes S Class and the Cadillac CTS.

I'm confused by this too. OP do you know if the video you posted from CR was made before or after the one in the following:

Tesla Reliability Doesn’t Match Its High Performance - Consumer Reports

CR seems like they can't make up their mind. "Best car ever!" "Terrible reliability!" "Average reliability!" What's the deal?? I have always trusted CR for their reporting on cars but this just seems all over the place. I realize the original glowing report was based on performance, etc while the latest was based on consumer reliability, but there are now apparently three reports with what seems like very different feedback all within a few months.

I'm a new owner so can't comment on any issues - hoping there will be none. But I can say I would put up with a LOT to continue to own this car. My heart pounds every time I get into it. I. Love. It.

Reliability has probably gone up since 2014. Respondents in the 2015 survey were likely referring to problems on 2013 cars. Tesla is constantly making engineering improvements.

For a different perspective on CR's recent findings...

Love this closing quote from PopSci:

Meanwhile, let’s all just take a deep breath, accept the possibility that this may indeed be a tempest in a teapot, and not lose our collective **** every three days over this company.

LOL! Good advice for TMC, I would say!!
