2016 HW2 based on VIN?

Hi,

Is there any way to tell based on the VIN number if a 2016 model X has HW2 on it? Been trying to find a 2016 car with HW2 on some of the used websites but having a hard time figuring out based on their description whether its HW1 or 2.

thanks
Cars aren't necessarily built in VIN order so you can't rely on that. I had people tell me that AP2 didn't appear on the S until a certain VIN and I had to point out that my first Model S had a VIN several thousand lower and it had AP2.

If you can see pictures of the 2016 car (S or X), look at the turn signals on the front. If they are all silver, then the car is AP1. If they have black, they would include the AP2 cameras.

Most 2016 cars would be AP1 but there were some built at the end of 2016 that would have AP2 hardware.

To add on to @MorrisonHiker post:

Most car pictures will show side profiles, so you can look for cameras between the doors. This is the easiest and most definitive in my opinion.

If it's a 60D it is also has HW2 (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Build date of 11/06 and 12/06 is also HW2.
