Expired 2017 Model S 75D with New Upgraded HV Battery to 90kWh, FSD, MCU2, 35K Miles [Expired]

Yes, still available. Battery warranty expires Feb 23, 2025.

The HV battery temperature sensor went out @25K miles. Since this sensor is in the battery pack, Tesla replaced the HV battery pack with brand new 90kWh battery Part Number 1014116-00-B under warranty. Tesla did not cap the battery, so I felt I won the lottery with a new 90kWh battery pack.

I think they decided not to cap it. They were replacing a 75kWh battery that had a max range of @250 miles and @25K miles on the odometer. The service invoice just states: "Concerns - Replace High Voltage Battery due to BMS temperature sensing fault. Verified customer concern, replaced HV Battery. Verified Operations." No mention of capping battery on invoice. Tesla has serviced my vehicle several times since the battery replacement and Tesla has not mentioned anything about the battery.

I just looked at a 2018 S 75D with 21k miles, similar in price to yours, that had the same story. Sensor failed so Tesla put an uncapped 90kwh pack in it. I wonder if this will become more common as a friend just had his replaced too (though he already had a 90D).

I don’t think they replace these with anything but a 90kwh. It’s a bonus for the battery failing when it obviously should not be at such low miles. Can that sensor be replaced without doing the whole pack? Seems like a costly fix if so. What about people out of warranty at 25k? Is Tesla just going to say sorry about your luck you need a 19k battery and your car only has 29k miles? Seems ridiculous to me
