2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

I took delivery of my LR last Saturday, it drives great! However, there's quite a few fit and finish issues. Just wondering, if anyone here have similar issues (chances are yes), and more importantly - did Tesla services actually did anything about them and how are the results? Or are these just "normal" finishes and it's the best Tesla can do?

1. specks of dusts behind the driver display screen
2. interior door panels have gaps large enough to fit a finger (see pic)
3. seat bolster wrinkles (see pic)
4. scratches on the wood trim - I am beginning to wonder if that's the way it is, as it's everywhere (see pic)

I don't see scratches even zooming in. It looks like normal simulated wood grain.

In my driving I haven't cursed the headlights. I have cursed trying to unsuccessfully find the horn button.
I have cursed the headlights but only related to the auto high beams. It isn’t close to being as intelligent as my other cars and constant flashed cars coming at me and cars in front of me. It’s just a matter of time before someone roadrages me.

Would be nice if there was a software update to make it more intelligent.

software update coming in two weeks

Finding the horn when you need it quickly is a joke. The single biggest defect in the car. Not used often but when necessary can make a difference. Temporary solution-went to Michaels and bought a self adhesive sheet of decorative plastic buttons/tabs and attached right below horn. Couldn't decide between black or white--but they are sold in sheets of 40+ (various colors) so I can change.

My September Plaid is at the SC getting the Airbag Recall…
Just saw this on the invoice. Another recall? (Redesigned Wiring harness for air suspension?)

Concern: Retrofit Hydraulic Control Unit Wake-Up Wire
Correction: Retrofit HCU Wake-Up Wire
Parts Replaced or Added
ASY,HARN,FRUNK SWITCH GND,OVERLAY,MS(1731861-00-A)
Part Quantity 1.00
I am getting that too. Mentions a frunk switch so probably not anything with brakes or suspension. But I don't think it is the widely reported frunk recall latch issue for the older Model S

Correction. This apparently is part of the brake system -- the reference to frunk is just the location of where the wire harness is and maybe what else is on the harness, but issue is the brake HCU wake up wire -- needs to be retrofitted. I have a August or maybe July build, also needed the airbag (I wonder if I got the horn . . . )

@cwanja front foot well lights are much much more subdued than rear. I hadn't noticed until I snapped these for you.
I do not even think mine are half that bright. I will have to snap a photo tonight and compare. But I appreciate the photos!
So my passenger side is definitely failing a being a light. Drivers side is better, closer to yours @impastu. You can tell the passenger side wants to try to light up, in the second photo with the red circle is all that little buddy gives off. Looks like my rear seat ambient light works fine.

Does your cubby light work correctly? It looks like it is on with the lid fully open.. When was your car built?

Just an update from another thread. My build date is 6/29/21. Console light worked properly when delivered. Replaced console twice now due to issues (first, cracked trim. Second, drawers sticking.) The third console - light now turns off when fully opened, stays on all the time otherwise.

So, keep trading one problem for another with this center console.

My delivery specialist was able to give me that info. Not sure what exactly is meant by the day, since I assume it takes more than one day to build a car, but it's interesting.
I believe @vcor is looking for the "born on" date, which I believe is the date his car started production. If you look for a "factory gate" day, that is the day it is completed.

I'd be ok with either start or end production day - they are likely within 7 days of each other. I'll ask for service next time I'm in (which may be a while!). I was hoping there was some hidden label on the car with the day of manufacture included.

was leaving for a road trip this morning, charged to 100% and woke up to all these codes being thrown. Limped my car to the service center, they’re saying it’s probably a total battery replacement after 1200 miles. At least they gave me a rickety model 3 loaner instead of some Uber credits. Definitely not boding well for the future of ownership on this thing.
