My PTC heater has been diagnosed faulty by Tesla and compared to their usual instant service booking response they've gone suspiciously quiet about booking an appointment to fix it?

Is there a known waiting list for this part, how bad "it's freakin' cold out here Mr Bigglesworth" do I need to be buying a run around for the winter or is this usually a couple of weeks?

I've been waiting 1.5 months for a replacement door handle. I haven't been aggressively pushing it because the one I've got still works (a spring has gone so there's no soft close aspect to it now). Parts sourcing seems to be a real problem for Tesla, and I can't think of a worse one to go at this time of year to be honest :(

Good luck!

Could well be totally unrelated but I was bored and browsing the tesla shop yesterday.....just about everything is out of stock from seat covers to key cards! Its kind of insane. I wonder what is going on with them.
It's never been great been has been getting worse for a while now. I've was waiting for air filters to come in stock for weeks and finally gave up and got Blue Print ones instead for less than half the price.

Most items are in stock in the European stores so there doesn't seem to be a supplier issue.

My heater went just after the 2 year mark in the winter, basically the car will be unusable during this period and difficult to drive to the service centre when it gets cold due to the windows misting up etc.

I just dropped the car off asap without a loaner and got it fixed within a week I believe, they managed to source a unit from a different service centre but this was in 2021 and I would have hoped they have improved by now, I would contact them for an update and tell them the car isn't usable during this period due to the temperature

Ive had the heater matrix go (leaking) in an ice car back in the day and for the most part this is a dashboard out affair.

I bypassed it, put some extra layers on and opened the window a bit and let air flow.

If you still have air conditioning, this will get rid of the misting, wether you run it hot or cold.

I'm guessing you need part 1088218-00-I (pictured below)? I would try call the Tesla Customer Service number and select the option for service and spare parts. You can give them the spare part number and they'll be able to tell you where there is stock. Some of the bigger Service Centre's also have Parts Specialists who deal with spare parts management, they can also look up where there are parts available.

If you're out of warranty then maybe consider trying to source the part yourself, also look for earlier revisions than revision I (the last character of the part number is the revision number) and see if you can get someone to fit for you?

Also, annecdotal but a Parts Specialist recently looked up a part for me and it was showing negative part numbers across the UK. This was just a pinch bolt needed when replacing the front upper control arms. Turned out they had loads but for some reason there parts system wasn't showing correct quantities.

That tequila is sounding pretty good right now.

Well ... it appears to be in stock, but my guess is that you are not aware of the price?

Hmmm ... discounted (a bit) here: Tesla Tequila

and A LOT at auction sites e.g. Tesla - Tequila (75cl) | Whisky Hammer

That's Tesla depreciation for you!!

Noticed the same. Was initially browsing in the Australian shop for some random reason and all out of stock. Switched to the UK and same story….🤔

Shame as I found something I want

Here in Finland as winter comes these ptc heaters start to pop (along with heatpumps, real epidemic but availability looks to be okish) and availability is zero.. these cars are undriveable after that for months.
Some 3rd party services have found one way to get some of these cases back to use after diagnosing which heater module is broken and then they disable/bypass it hw level.. not final workaround as car cycles these modules and no heat if broken one is selected. If I heard right, all tesla service center parking areas here are full of these ptc fault cars..

Perfect reminder to update here. Got my new heater fitted by Tesla yesterday. Finally, it feels like an absolute age but actually 6 weeks ish.. it could have been worse

The new heater smells like a new hair dryer at the moment, generally fills the cabin with the smell of burning plastic every time it comes on.. but it works beautifully and it's about to get cold again so timing is much appreciated

I spoke to a mobile technician today about these. You can have up to a 6 month wait for the part .. apparently Tesla have prioritised shipping to the middle east as the glue in their heaters are melting in the 40 degree plus heat. They haven't actually failed... Perhaps they could repurpose some and send them to the UK where we actually need the heat they produce? Or is that being too sensible?
