27 hours from delivery and I don't have a final balance due yet!

I'm scheduled for a 7/14 delivery and as of today (7/13) I don't even have a final balance yet. I'm planning on a cash purchase with a wire transfer. BTW, I placed my order on May 10th and have had a confirmed delivery date for 3 weeks.

Is this normal? I hope my bank has time to process the wire transfer!

Will Tesla accept a personal check the day of delivery? Could I escalate to executive this afternoon to get permission to pay by personal check? My bank's wire transfer cutoff is 3PM EST.

It depends on the amount; most of mine (for my X) was from Alliant and I had about $10K in a personal check, which wasn't a problem. But it's up to the local delivery person. There was a thread here that had an internal number to call to get results. If you had an approximate number (loan amount) for the bank to handle, and the balance in a 'reasonable' check, again, that might work.

It is ridiculous they can't provide final amounts in a timely fashion!

They've accepted mine multiple times. They didn't even blink or remotely complain. I didn't ask them beforehand either. I just showed up and they were fine.

Are they really going to refuse to give you the car when they need to get them out asap?

I'm sure for cash flow and credit risk reasons they would love for you to wire the money weeks in advance, but they will take your check too.

The best option might be have a lender bank check or cashier's check for the bulk of the money, and top it up with your personal check drawn on the spot when you approve of the car and have the final amount due.

Obviously very different where you live! Personal cheques don't cut it over in the UK unless fully cleared, which takes several days.

This thread is in the model 3 forum -- I assumed only N. American deliveries for now.

And I thought all other countries did away with checks anyway. It's totally primitive and embarrassing that the US still uses checks just so banks can capture a small margin on the float. But I digress -- if you can do a wire transfer on the spot as I think most countries have a banking system to support, that is the best option for all concerned.

That sounds exactly like my situation. I had a vin for 5 weeks now. Delivery scheduled tomorrow. I don't have a final amount and I know they won't take a personal check for more than 10k.

I should say at this point I'm 25 hours to delivery..

I've purchased my cars with cashiers checks and personal checks. There's fraud with cashiers checks as well, but it's drawn on the bank so they can confirm with the bank that it's valid. Unless they need the money right away, in either case it rests on trusting the buyer.

@ratsbew I just logged into my tesla account and the MVPA is there with the full amounts.

When I emailed my advisor about this she said the contracts team was pretty swamped. I got the final amount and wired my down payment Friday afternoon. I picked up the car on Sunday but the funds didn’t finally transfer until Monday. I was fully ready to do the electronic transfer in front of my delivery specialist on my phone if need be. Turns out I didn’t need to.

I got my final amount late in the day July 11, but I decided against ACH and got a cashier's check for the amount. My ISA said either ACH or cashier's check. I got nervous that I wouldn't have time for funds to transfer for my delivery tomorrow, so I am bringing the check. Now I am afraid to check my email, dreading that there will be some last minute delay in delivery!

Yeah I realise that now. Just picked up this from the "recent threads" list. I know what you mean about primitive. We have property in Canada and banking there is like banking in the UK 25 years ago! I haven't written a personal cheque in about 10 years or more. But looks like you guys can still write a personal "check" and drive off with a $50K motor on the spot! I'm surprised there isn't more fraud going on?!

I am in the same situation! I am picking up my car tomorrow (Sat) and less than 36 hours out have no final cost. Too late to get to bank for a cashier's check. I've lost count of the number of times I have reloaded the Tesla account. We are prepared to do ACH at delivery but this is very nerve wracking!

If ACH on site is an option, then that will work too because that should be able to go through on the weekend. My ISA has been completely unresponsive since I emailed on Sunday.

I'm an understanding person and I know that they are swamped, but this team obviously needs to hire more people.

btw - I've never gotten a call from my ISA (in Las Vegas), only email. I've tried to call the number and the vm has always been full. I've sent another email asking for final pricing but the reply was that comes from another department. This is a crazy way to buy a car!
