adding a driver remotely?

so my wife is currently abroad and she comes back next week. I'm flying out so will miss her coming home.

I've changed the locks since she left. I have a spare in the glovebox of the tesla.

If I send an invite to add a driver from the tesla app to her, will that let her open the car and even use it as a key to drive, or will she still need a key card to pair it?

According to the manual:

While inside or near the vehicle, open the Tesla mobile app and touch Set Up Phone Key on the main screen, or navigate to Security > Set Up Phone Key. Follow the prompts on the mobile app and vehicle touchscreen to set up your phone key.

So not clear if you can do it from outside the car or if you have to use the touchscreen.
If it's a convenient time you could always unlock the car remotely while she is standing there.

This. Plus if all else fails you can "start" the car, remotely, too and she can then just drive it (but if she engages PARK (maybe also need to exit the vehicle, I'm not sure) you'll need to start it again.

If that could leave the spare key in a jam jar under the hedge in a specific location, rather than glove box, perhaps?

I added my wife through the app very soon after I got the car. Not had an issue since.

No key card is needed, the invite alone is sufficient for the car to be added to another Tesla account. If you have PIN to Drive enabled they'll need to have the PIN.
