Thinking about adding a NG generator, such as Generac, to my existing PV & PW2 system. Would that integrate with the existing Tesla Gateway 1 transfer switch or would the generator need its own transfer switch? Thanks.
It’s possible. We have it done with GW2. The generator feeds the “backup” panel directly so that it senses when the upstream grid or Powerwall is not providing power and energizes the “backup panel”.
I put backup panel in quotes because it was the 200amp main panel for the home until the Powerwall install where Tesla made that whole panel the backup panel for whole home backup, and a new panel for the GW2 and grid is the new main panel.

Adding energy storage to your solar system is the best way to maximize your system’s value – allowing you to use solar power day and night. Powerwall can be integrated with a new or existing solar system.
